Help me decide if Swain is better than Vladimir

Hallbuster··1 votes·1,062 views

I've taken advice from Vlad Maine, but I need more opinions. Just looked up Swain on Lolking and noticed he had the 5th highest win rate at 52.89% whereas my OTP Vladimir is barely over half at 49.46%. Vladimir is a great hyper carry champion, I use him to win games but sometimes he just doesn't stand a chance against stronger picks. I need to know particularly from any Swain main's if he is better before I can make my decision.

49% on a high skill floor champion is actually pretty damn good. Vladimir is a good champion right now. If you can't win with him, it might be because you've plateaued as a player and need to improve. Changing your champion won't magically make you climb. Take a guy called Aqua Dragon on NA as an example. He plays mostly AD malz jungle in plat/diamond. Is it good? Hell no. Does he make it work? Yes, because he is a better player. You don't need a new main, you need to focus on improving.

Hmmmmm, you may be right.

Swain is far better than vlad. Better sustain, tankier, higher damage output, stronger when fed, more crowd control, more AoE. Better in every way. Only difference is vlad is a slightly easier champ to farm as(though the 2016+ vlad is still a terrible champ to farm with in comparison to others).

His wave clear is probably his greatest flaw.

vlad is played more than swain that could always be why his win rate is lower. They play two different roles on a team, vlad no mana lots of sustain easy lane bully and yes decent team fight and dmg, swain generally more of a tanky sustain mage late game with some lock down i feel that vlad will always have better burst.

Sounds reasonable, so it's less inaccurate. Lol did you use this site?

No, i can just see vlad more often and those statistics confirm it lol. Win rate alone doesnt determine how well a champ is (sometimes it does) other times its just numbers that affect the win rate because people either feed more often on a particular champ.

A paragraph, I can still take in his meaning though.

what dont you agree with or not understand? Swain isnt meant for burst hence the reason his dmg is DOTs. Yes he does do can do good dmg but thats not his main focus as a champ. Vlads ult makes him a good team fighter, swain is far more self-ish. To add to that, vlad has more aoe, swain has to land a multiple person snare, and his ult which i dont see do much burst itself and can only hit 3 times per target i believe, unless they changed that.

Well if you look at his name it appears that english is a hard area for him.

His ult can hit up to 5 targets now if I remembered correctly. But I think most of what you said is true. Swain can't burst someone down, his DPS is only high when it takes time, much like Cassiopeia.

I think vlads also more difficult then swain...swains kit is a little more straight forward whereas Vladimir takes some work into figuring out

It could just be me but I don't find Vladimir too difficult to play. Even for players who are new to LoL. His Q, transfusion is a targeted ability, R is a point and click, his E can hardly be called a skill shot when it hits 10 directions, and w just makes you untargettable to most attacks.

His Q and R is like Annie's, which was why the transition between these 2 champions wasn't hard.

It's not that the specific mechanics of each ability are difficult more that the way in which you use the abilities and all of the little nuances that come with the champ are difficult to master

Yes, swain is a better vlad, in terms of drain tankness. He has cc, more range, and more sustain in a teamfight. Vlad's ult is useful, but, you need a team to follow up on it, and he doesn't provide hard cc, like swain can. Vlad's e can also be blocked, swains ult can't.

Yeah, one of the reasons why I'm starting to get frustrated with Vladimir is how easily his e is interrupted. Vladimir also has to go in to deal damage while he isn't that much tankier than most mages.

I was referring to him calling Vlad a lanr bully. But go ahead and use my username to insult me.

Well R can technically miss. I've definitely missed it a handful of times due to enemies flashing or dashing the second before I used it. You probably meant to say it's easy to land because it's instant.

However Vlad has a lot nuance to his kit. The fact that you can't just roll your fingers over the keyboard to use kit is certainly different than most mages. Also, the E charge Flash R release E combo is definitely not easy to pull off without practice.

Yeah, everything you said is true. R isn't always guaranteed to land without careful timing and practice.

The combo I mentioned is also requires some very quick reflexes :/ like you said.

Play Swain. You can't go wrong. At least until the HUGE runes/masteries/items changes coming up in Nov.

I might buy him even though I might not play him. Who knows, with 10 bans coming soon I'll need a backup just in case.

No offence, but seeing as you are a Bronze player. You should play Swain instead of Vlad regardless of statistics. Vlad's kit and combos would be 2 much for you to handle. Swain is very straight forward and easy to play. He is very impactful at top as well.

I don't understand why so many players are calling Vladimir a difficult champion? I know his kit, his combo's, and his strengths and weaknesses. I've played more than 300 games with him alone and can say with absolute certaintity, he is not a difficult champion!

Here's a basic recap of his abilities

Q: Is a target click ability, you click a target and take their health to restore your own.

It's like Annie's Q: Disenegrate. All you do is hover your cursor to an opponent and press Q. Nothing difficult.

W: makes Vladimir immune to most forms of damage for 2 seconds except a few.

This spell requires some reflex and game knowledge. Pooling to early and too late can be the difference between life and death. This is the only skill that I am still trying to master.

E: Fires a nova in 10 different directions, using health as a resource in the process.

It's like a skillshot except it can't really miss. This is the second hardest spell to master because you have to judge it's distance and figure out of it will come into contact. But overall, it's not hard to use.

R: infects targets that deal damage after a certain amount of time, infected units take 10 percent additional damage from all sources.

This spell is another point and click much like Annie's R: Summon Tibbers. The only difficulty with using this spell is getting in range without dying first.
