An in-depth description of why the LeBlanc rework was a huge failure from a LeBlanc main
Riot stated, upon confirming a future LeBlanc rework, that the current LeBlanc was great in "zipping in for some fast kills", but they looked to make her more of a deciever than a burst assassin.
Well, guess what? Old LeBlanc:
a.) was way less bursty b.) was way more deceptive c.) was way more fun (not that anyone else cares, but still) d.) had way more counterplay
Before i start this, i just want to say that i am currently drifting away from LeBlanc and i dont think i can main her anymore. Shes just not at all fun and doesnt feel good to play anymore. I was absolutely in love with the old LeBlanc and now id rather play anyone else than her.
A.) New one has way more burst
Riot wanted to move her from "zipping in for fast kills" to "decieving her enemies for kills."
Guess what? This was a huge failure.
The old one would do a full rotation of all 4 abilities and kill you (if she played it smart.) The new one mindlessly spams Q>RQ>Gunblade (not even waiting for passive proc) and kills you. Or, the new one can just hit you with a chain and kill you.
Either way, she uses half the amount she needed to use before and it is in no way less bursty than the old LeBlanc.
B.) Old one was way more deceptive
Her passive was the perfect trick for decieving enemies. You could pretend to be the clone (walk towards the enemies when you're fleeing, and they'll think you're the clone and chase the actual clone instead) when you're escaping- if you were crafty enough.
Her new RR (the current form of her old passive, i guess) does nothing but frustrate the enemies by being clutter on their screen (nobody falls for it, its so obvious who's the real LeBlanc now) and actually increases her damage output (which they didnt want) by proccing Lich Bane (something the old one didnt do.)
The old LeBlanc had multiple combos she could do to kill you (which is decieving, since you never know which one she might do and never know who she could do it on.) The new one has very few combos that kill you without actually doing anything decieving at all.
Old Combos:
Q>R>W>E Q>W>R>E Q>E>W>R W>R>Q>E W>Q>R>E W>E>Q>R W>E>R>Q E>R>Q>W
New Combos:
Q>RQ>Gunblade W>E
E: Old one was way more fun.
Nobody really cares about this, because 90% of people who arent LeBlanc mains think "screw LeBlanc, she can go burn in hell."
But really, everyone. The old LeBlanc was way more fun to play, and arguably way less annoying to play against. The old one might have felt unfair, but she didnt kill you by hitting her E and nothing else back then.
D.) New LeBlanc has way less counterplay.
With the old one, her ultimate would only work off the last ability she used, so you could track her ability usage to see what her ultimate will do.
It went from:
"Okay, LeBlanc just used Q on my squishy carry, so her ultimate could potentially burst them down, i better defend them for the next few seconds."
To:
"Okay, LeBlanc just W dashed, now i should... nvm, she just oneshot my squishy carry with RQ+Q+Gunblade."
With the old one, her main combo was Q>R>W, so if you dodged the W (flash, mobility spell, juking, etc) 70% of her burst is gone.
With the new one, she spams everything she has that isnt a skillshot and then dashes the hell out of there. Very little to no counterplay.
In Summary
The LeBlanc rework achieved nothing Riot set out for, and is way more toxic and unfun to play as and against.
You dont even have to revert the rework (as much as i would love to have my one true love LeBlanc back), but we cant stay on the current one.
Give us a LeBlanc that we can all love, Riot. Both LeBlanc mains, and LeBlanc haters.
