Can we make slows reduce the range of dashes?

Highly mobile champions are already hard enough to hit with hard CC because they can dash out of the way of the skillshot, as there are very very few targeted stuns and roots. Why is it that you can apply an 80% slow on Riven and she can still manage to go the exact same distance as if she wasn't slowed?

Any changes to counter the mobility creep seem to counter immobile champions even harder, further opening the gap. However, this way you might have a slight chance at stopping Leblanc, Riven, Zed without being Taric or Ryze, while not further hurting immobile champions.

I wouldn't even mind if the slow was reduced proportionally. EX: 80% slow decreases the dash range by 40% rather than 80% or something like that. Being basically immune to all soft crowd control doesn't seem very healthy. Garen, Alistar, and Olaf are not even unique anymore because slows don't do shit to 80% of the newer champions.

Instead of lowering dash range, why not lower dash speed, it'd make it really confusing for people who are used to dashes to tell it's range if slows lower it's range, lowering dash speeds would make more sense

I thought about that but figured it would be more complicated for both the players and developers. Additionally, dashes are quite fast in general and some are almost instant or instant, like Zed's dash. I'm also not sure how it would effect champions with multiple dashes like Riven. If they could balance and design it correctly, I could see it working well. Riven could be forced to space out her dashes instead of being able to spam 3 gap closers at once.

Reducing range seems to be more universally reliable than speed. If you changed speed, Zed and Ezreal would be untouched while champions like Corki would suffer quite a lot, and he doesn't need any mobility counterplay at all in my opinion.

Instant dashes are not dashes, they are blinks.

Also, it would probably be easier, as you could reduce the dash's travel speed easily. For Zed, you could lower how fast the shadow is sent out, still making the slow effective. Multiple dashes like riven would be just as hard as a normal dash, since you could just apply the treatment to all of the dashes.

It's simply a matter of just applying what you have to movement speed to the speed of the dash, which really shouldn't be that difficult.

It isnt dificult because this is alredy a thing Slows reduce dash speed

Well Ezreal would be untouch indeed since his e is a blink, corki you're right that it'd nerf him if dash speeds were reduced. Zed's case, if he's slowed, W becomes slower, in riven's case, I don't know how they'd make it visually make her dashes slower, but you can make it so it takes longer for her to use another skill since the time it takes to reach it's destination is technically longer..... relatively. So that'd nerf her multiple dashes if she tries to use them in quick succession, giving you a bigger time frame to duel against her before she can lay out all her q's and her e

Agreed. Slows completely shutdown immobile champs, but are almost completely ignored by mobile ones.

And yet if you do that you'll hurt every champion who needs that mobility. The only way of cutting mobility would be looking into every champion separately. Otherwise Frozen Mallet would become nr1 item on ranged champs, and no one would be able to stop them. And they're already too strong.

Flash wouldn't be reduced as flash is instant and has no travel speed,

It's been said over 100 times. They don't want to make static numbers into variables. When you play a character with a dash or a blink, you know exactly how far you can go. It would be a very derivative experience if a person had to keep figuring out how far they can go if they got slowed. It makes a large difference, and one that can't really be learned.

You make a good point that should be seen by people on the post (upvoted) I think someone else mentioned changing travel speeds of dashes (which would not be done as easily as said), but there's WAY too many issues if you affect the speed. Especially when you take into consideration just how many slows are in this game. People often don't notice how often they are under slows, because some of them are very small, it's the huge 80% reductions that hit people hard, but the 40% and less (or decay over time) slows, often just stop you catching or walking away, but not enough to actually stop you if u hit a slow back or any other cc.

Maybe if it was added to a "specific" champion, who had the ability to mess with dashes, but not as a global change. And if it was a global change, it'd need to be like only 80% + and even then it's still gonna cause issues.

Reducing CDR or increasing CD's seems more likely, and I'm surprised we haven't seen a champ or item that does this yet, but i guess that is what silence is for

It should reduce the dash speed, not dash distance

On certain amount of champions with multiple dashes/blinks is k to add this counterplay, not at everyone

Can we make tenacity affect the height (and in turn the time spent airborn) of knock ups while we're at it?

Then can we speed them up when they get ms buffs too?

and then everyone now takes boots of swiftness (which is a very good, but very niche item)

also summoner spells... good bye everything that is not exhaust, flash, and smite - though it may reintroduce clense

They alredy reduce the dash speed. Edit: Apparently this is only true for Kalista's passive

Yasuo's dash speed scales with MS as well in both directions. Buy your furor boots today!

I'm pretty sure it apply to all/most dash, just that Kalista's dash's get larger slows.

I feel this would be too punishing/awkward for:

Champs with projectile dashes. Shen Vi Aatrox (RekSai especially)

Champs with short dashes: Vayne Ekko Graves Lucian

And the majority of champs with only one dash. If there are mobile champs that are that bad, the weaknesses of these champs should be fleshed out more, rather then nuking mobility in general.

SolusInCadere1 votes

Oo...like Yasuo's dahs, I would love that. Actually thought about posting this a couple weeks ago. I think this is the best way to slow the mobility creep (see what I did there?)

About blinks: blinks are rare right now, I think that unless new champs began coming out with blinks instead of dashes because slows now affect dashes...that would be bad.

Edit: I think that slows need to alter dash speeds, not lengths. Slows should slow the speed at which champions move, not their total travel capabilities
