PSA: telling players that they are terrible and should get demoted is not toxic
Going 0/11 within 10 mins of the game is toxic.

so telling people that they are terrible is not toxic... what is it then? what does that accomplish? does you saying that suddenly makes them play better or realize the mistakes they did? how does you telling them that they are terrible and that they should be demoted even does for you other than making you feel better inside?

If I tried to play a basketball game I would be trash. If someone said "hey you suck at this game" I'm not gonna get all butt hurt and cry. Being told you're bad at something isn't a super toxic thing. Being toxic is different than saying "hey you suck at this" And honestly if you can't handle that I feel bad for you when life hits you with something harder than that

if the only thing you said is "you are bad at this" then sure, that is nothing but tell me. How many times is that the only thing that is ever said? specially when you have no other choice but to keep playing since otherwise you would get penalized? in basketball if someone annoys me i can just leave them and go play somewhere else. In league you are stuck playing the game with this person that is annoying you with constant remarks on how bad you are it gets grating and obnoxious really fast.
Yes being told you are bad at something once or twice isn't a super toxic thing but that is rarely the case since whoever is saying that if they don't know you they just want to provoke you and they will do it as often as they can just to try and provoke you. IRL you can just leave while "accidentally" throwing their ball down a hill or something. In league you don't have that luxury

Losing a game isn't "toxic". Toxic is being an ass to your team mates.
If it helps here's some specific words that post-millenials have decided to use to describe everything they experience in life.
IMO pretty weak, every generation has been able to come up with cooler words to fixate on and in a lot of cases even invented their own words. All of these are interchangeable and can be used for the same thing.
In toxic's usage though it represents an experience that makes people feel bad as if the toxic thing is poisoning those around it.
To explain further if a champion had a 10,000 range aura that killed any champion that went into it. The champion's design would be toxic but the player playing it isn't Toxic they are trying to win as best as they can.

Here we have a Yasuo/Riven main in its natural habitat. What a fascinating creature!
No that's either bad game or just trolling,
Though something tells me you got punished for what you claimed is not toxic.

Trolling isn't Toxic? The sheep getting more and more... never mind. Don't get want to get reported by the Group Think
Trolling is actions, Toxic is language. Sometimes the line gets blurred by those calling an action "toxic behavior," but that's the general distinction.

You are inventing definitions just to fit your small silly world. Feel free to come join the REAL world.
Toxic: "Very bad, unpleasant, or harmful." Sounds like trolling to me.
I'm not inventing definitions, I'm telling you how it's used. Look around the PB&M Board at how others use it if you don't believe me.

Trolling is doing or saying things to intentionally get people worked up and for no other reason.
For example:
"Is Metroid's gun attached to his hand or is it a part of his suit?"
People say stuff like that even though they know metroid's name is actually Samus and that "he" is a she. They are setting a trap and they get a rise out of it because it makes people that fall for it look like suckers. Hence the term trolling, in reference to a troll waiting under a bridge that looks safe.
People use it a lot to describe anything they don't agree with however:
In both cases it's called a troll pick however which implies that it was just picked to get a laugh at the expense of the team by making them upset.
Trolling on the internet is very similar to sarcasm in that you can't ever really decipher if the player is trolling or not. Proof of if they are actually trolling or not exists only in their thoughts unless they clearly and verbally declare that they are trolling. There are people out there that actually don't know that Samus's name isn't metroid and that Samus is female, they aren't trolls they just don't know Metroid so good.

I just quoted one of the REAL definitions, and you want to argue with facts? I don't think so. Go argue with a mirror.
You quoted a generic definition, one not fully accurate in gaming context. The definition of "champion" would not accurately fit several characters in the game, yet it's been adapted to describe all the playable characters regardless. It's the same with "toxic".

Mirror that way ----->
Definitions change with the people using them. Language is not static and no dictionary will have 100% correct definitions of the way words are used. Different communities also have different uses or words. You won't find the Leage of Legends community description of toxic in a dictionary.
It's hard to say trolling isn't toxic. Maybe not in all cases, like if the troll is a good sport, but usually trolling is toxic. If he is 0/11 and trying his best then that really isn't trolling. If he is just lol dying every 10 seconds it's hard to say that he isn't being a toxic troll.
But then there is the instance where the 0/11 player thinks he's the best ever and is blinded by the fact that he is indeed making the mistakes. That is a form of "blind trolling" but would that really be considered trolling? Of course if he is raging all the while than he is very toxic.
"Well ol chap, I do notice you're skills are not quite adequate." "I do hope that riot despite thier flaws can adjust you to a more beginner suited ranking after the closure of this match so that I may be free from your assisting the enemy team's financial success in my future ranked endeavors." -tips top hat while watching LP decline- gg moderate.
That's either playing very badly or trolling(which i don't find nearly as bad as someone who is flaming a teammate).

Really? I can ignore someone that is flaming, I can ignore spam pinging.. I can't just make a troll go away. Trolling your team members is way more toxic that some silly words.
But I know, "muh feelings".

Trolling != losing
If you feel a player is trolling then why are they close enough in ranked to be grouped with you in ranked to then need to be told they need to be demoted?
If you are vastly better by enough that you can tell them they are bad and need to be demoted shouldn't you be well out of the range of a bad player that intentionally loses games to spite their team? The chance of having a person losing very hard OR intentionally losing is actually higher for your opponents since YOU occupy one slot on your team and can prevent that from being an intentional losing player. Your account will gain more ranking then it will lose from intentional losing players so this has no bearing on your overall rank.

No, buddy...YOU are toxic
Please do not start a flame war by accusing players of being toxic.
((MOD EDIT)) - Removed offensive content. Please do not start a flame war with insults. Thank you.
I dont think you people get Op's point.
lets put it like this:
say I want to be an NFL football player, yet im horrible at the game.
Now lets say I go to a practice for the dolphins, and i do horrible. the coach tells me "you suck at this game, we cant let you play on our team, and you dont deserve this over a guy who actually is good." now lets say you bitch and moan and complain saying he discriminated against you and was being "toxic" and everyone agrees he was an asshole and that you should get drafted. now youre on the team and have zero idea what youre doing and you get tackled by 10 burly dudes and end up in a coma for the rest of your life.
congratulations thats what being PC will do to you.

When you call another player bad you aren't a professional NFL player telling that to an amateur that never played football in their life. Actually you are around the exact same rank as they are and you don't even really know if you are better then them. With your lack of experience of the game you have no business figuring out who's better than who and your effort would be much better focused on figuring out what you yourself are doing wrong to improve.
Riot is already playing Nanny so "PC" isn't exactly an issue. If someone that is a peer or equal to you tells you that you are bad the correct response is to generally tell them to "Go F themselves" but if you do that Riot will punish you.
In the battle to enable or prevent toxicity: Riot only protects mild blamers that can't take responsibility for their own poor performance and want to put it on others. They don't protect bad asses that want to tell passive aggressive blamers off and they don't protect people that are too passive / scared to stand up for themselves. The last option is to simply mute everyone which Riot endorses.
it's not the super sensitive people that are being protected by Riot, it's the people that want to blame others so they don't have to feel responsibile in a mild manner so they can't quite be punished. No one else gets chat protection from Riot but Riot is the one who decided to police it.
If you're constructive then you're most likely not being toxic.
