I don't really see what Riot could accomplish by reworking Darius.
What makes Darius Darius is essentially what players QQ about Darius.
The penta-kill pain train.
Best thing Riot could really do for Darius is have a more user-friendly resource for what different champions are strong and weak at.
Darius's problems mostly stem from operating with a different paradigm than new players develop, being extremely punishing when you don't know what his weaknesses are, because exploiting a tiny weakness and riding it for all it's worth is very much what Darius is about.
If Riot actually put out a lot more info on this site for those hungering for it, covering things like:
- Power spikes at different parts of the game
- kit build philosophies for different itemization paths, how to make a tanky-DPS a tanky DPS
- dueling power vs. team-fight power
- defense vs. mobility vs. range as relative counter-weights
- shorter ranged champions win by going ham vs. long range, longer range win by poke
They could potentially use the achievement system they made space for but never implemented to really drive home the strengths, weaknesses, and play-patterns of every champion in a memorable fashion.
Then Riot could probably just buff Darius to where he's in a solid spot.
