How the hell to counter Kat?

Its ridiculous the number of times that I pick mid, which is usually a mage lane, in blind pick or team builder and end up facing against Katarina who is a Pentakill in a can. i've tried many champions but none seem to be a good counter to her because she is just so easy and good. She doesn't have one skill shot (unless you count teleport as a skill shot), basically has flash for an ability, (actually better because is has a lower CD and does damage as well has decreases the damage she takes), knives that bounce perfectly from minion to minion...and then you (perfect laning) and then her ult that can even hit invisible champions. And yet people say "Katarina isn't THAT overpowered" yeah? well prove it too me cause i haven't seen a single game where a player that isn't new plays Kat and doesn't dominate everybody.. Ive tried TF, Viktor, Talon, Xerath, Azir, Yasuo (that wasnt so bad, but Yasou is OP as hell too). Suggestions?

stun her in her ult and she's done she'll have to run or die...tf's stun xerath's stun azir's knockup and yasuo has a shield that can block her ult.....

Xerath does stun but Kat usually ults behind minons. TF however plays a little different. You can try to prep a gold card ahead of time, but then Kat see your gold card and just backs off. You can wait until she ults to activate pick a card, but by then you might be dead, you can try to activate pick a card but then not pick one and let it cycle until she does something, but then she just backs off until you've picked a card, and used it. Yasou is easy to counter kats ult (thats why i said that he wasnt bad, but he is OP too), viktor you have to throw down gravity well when she ults. But besides her ult, she still has a ton of power and she'll out lane you anyways. Last game, although neither one of us had backed and I was ahead of her on CS she still managed to out level me, then use that extra ability to kill me, thus gaining another level.

You're clearly low elo. That's fine, but there are plenty of counters. The key is not letting Kat combo after yours.

Annie - stun with Q, NEVER go for a skillshot stun. Try and bait her into you first.

Twisted Fate - Poke and wave clear with Q if you're sucking a donker. NEVER set up your Gold card, use it defensively, or when in very close range. Back off if you use your combo aggressively.

Pantheon - This should be an easy matchup.

I don't want to use more examples. Just remember to bait her into a better situation. (like all assassins)

Also try being more patient than her in teamfights. gg

If neither of you backed and she was higher level than you that means one of a few things: You weren't in range of exp for all you minions She may of taken extra jungle creeps your jungle could of leeched exp in lane during a pass or gank You aren't watching the minion wave and she simply pushed for 6 (if you are close and you plan on killing someone that is what you do)

But again, Kat is bad in lane, bad in 1v1s.

Kat is terrible in lane lol. The ONLY lane Kat should ever win is like vs Karthus. She has no early game damage, she can only poke with her Q, she can easily be killed or CC'd after she E's (and you know where she will appear when she Es), her ult is the only thing dangerous about her. Ward bot side of your river, call MIA, follow her bot even if u think she is gonna kill your bot lane. There is no reason Kat should be getting fed in a 1v1.

Diana (which is good against non ranged mid's and even ADs) you just pull her out of the ult with her E and kill her. Annie (stun her) Syndra Mid (stun her, outpoke her, out burst her) Oriana mid (ult her, out poke, burst her, shield her poke) Karma (shield poke, heal her ult, out poke her) Liss (ult her during her ult, out poke her) Fizz (just kill her, E her ult if u have too) Kennen (stun her, match poke or outpoke) Jayce (outpoke and knock out of ult) Xerath (outpoke and kill before 6, save stun till she jumps to you or behind you, you shouldn't be in range of the minions such that she could hit u from her ult from behind them) LB (W away from her ult, come back in 15 seconds and kill her) Zrya (outpoke and outdamage, straight up can kill her at anytime) Viktor (can out poke before 6, don't fight her if you can't survive her burst long enough to CC her) Brand (stun her in ult using E->q if you are worried she'll E your W. Don't Q unless u know you'll hit. Save it for her to ult, poke with it before 6) Ahri (outpoke and charm out of ult) Malzahar (ult once she ults, then she dies) Fiddle (fear her when she ults) Galio (ult her when she ults) Heim (just throw down your big turret and buy an hourglass) Kass (literally u can just stand next to her and kill her after you Q)

You have to realize many things first.

Katarina's basic abilities have abysmal scalings. She's not gonna kill anyone with a Q E W.

Katarina is squish. Kill her in teamfights.

Her laning is garbage. She does little to no damage Pre6.

You're picking shit champs vs her. Pick people like Annie or Ahri who can interrupt her ult and kill her easily.

Her Q is not "perfect laning". It deals little damage to secondary targets.

Her E is a flash, sure. So is Ezreals E, and nobody complains about him.

Interrupt her ult. She wont get kills, she'll die. Trust me.

(plenty of people complain about Ez, he is the cuntiest of ADCs. But no one brings him up anymore because of how bad he is otherwise compared to current Meta ADCs. I agree with everything else tho. )

To be fair, his E doesn't give him damage reduction, but it also doesn't need a target, so...there's that.

Ez is also mostly skill shots. So you can dodge an Ezrael and live. You can't dodge Kats point and click abilities. The real problem is her passive. nerf the passive a bit, and then you eliminate the point and click spammers (I've done it) and give her a bit more skill/ ability management. She is definitely able to be countered, but she is also op in comparison to most champs.

Azir has two knockups, Yasuo has one plus I think Wind Wall blocks her ult, Veigar has an instant stun (and the burst to disintegrate her on sight), Malzahar has his ult which hard counters hers, Xerath E is perfect for stopping her ult if she jumps on you, etc... And that's just post-six. Pre-six, Azir, Xerath, and Malzahar have a heyday with her by poking her with impunity.

If you're having so much trouble, it's probably because you're opening yourself up too much. If I'm Veigar and miss my stun post-6 in lane, I run away like there's no tomorrow because I know her ult is coming if I stick around. Just be more careful about when you use your abilities so you don't leave large periods of weakness that she can exploit. Don't use hard CC to poke after 6; use it defensively.

I'd recommend Veig only if you can land the stuns perfectly. He counters her hard, what with his crazy ult and his stun, but if you miss the stun while she's ulting, you're boned.

Mid Cho'gath. Two ways to stop her ult, can push lane all day every day, forcing her to roam or get CS. She also builds squishy so she's prone to getting eaten very easily.

I am in low elo, and admit that kat is hard to counter because of the low skill, sometimes my team and I throw all my CC in the beginning of fight, sometimes the war full of messiness and we can't see kat, sometimes no one bother buy MR, etc etc

but I learn from that, I even have to flash backward and CC her when she ult, because no one will. And her damage fall off greatly in 1v1 condition, even if she's more fed than me, I can outdamage her as riven with instant W after she ult.

katarina has easy counters and yet they are still nerfing her stop complaining about her already the community has already whined enough that they're gimping her ult too much x.x
