Remember when the community begged for shorter games?

Anyone else remember what I like to call 'League of Waveclear'? It was that time where turrets were super strong and the tier 2 ones actually gave shields to allies near it. Games consisted of Ziggs and Xerath on opposing teams just waveclearing at each other until 50 minutes into the game when everyone was full build.

Common complaints:

  1. Games are just too long!

  2. Super boring hyper-scalers in every lane made the game dull

  3. Impossible to do anything with a lead

  4. Way too easy to stall the game out if behind

I just think its funny that at one point we were begging for games to be short and now that they are its a complete 180. The exact things that we wanted are the exact same things we complain about now.

“For it is said that humans are never satisfied, that you give them one thing and they want something more. And this is said in disparagement, whereas it is one of the greatest talents the species has and one that has made it superior to animals that are satisfied with what they have.” - John Steinbeck.

I mean, people complain about most things and then want them immediately reverted, mainly because there's one side that likes the game state, and another who doesn't (then there's the ones who don't care too much), and once the side that was unhappy gets what they want, then usually the other side complains about the change because they felt the game was fine. As a whole, we're a little bipolar tbh.

In the end, it's whatever Riot wants.

Truth, but the devs try to keep it close to the players for the most part, obviously not everyone will ever be happy, but I think they try to keep it as close to the middle as possible.

I'd say multiple personality disorder, given the disputes on some topics.

not really.

Different people want different things. Some people prefer shorter games, some prefer longer games. The ones who are happy are silent, and the ones who are not happy are flooding Boards.

Sounds like Assassins vs AD Hypercarries lol

Can confirm. Am an ADC main. I prefer longer games where I can actually influence the game for once instead of my team feeding the enemy Kat/LB/whatever.

I'm actually ok with league as it is now (minus a few broken champs). Unfortunately it won't last (probably).

I never liked playing adc, why would I play it at the worst possible time LOL

how can it be ok if an entire role is in the worst place it has ever been in?

I mean, we can have game times average somewhere between 26 and 48 minutes instead of making the argument that these are the only options.

35 min game average is what should happen

not 50 min

not 15

so complaining about long and short games at the same time ACTUALLY MAKES SENS, because the reason i'm not playing dota 3 right now is 50 min games

The problem was Athene's providing endless Mana resulting in many mages like Ziggs able to stop all efforts to push on to a turret for 10+ minutes at a time.

Mana is suppose to be a limitation even in late game.
