So I won four games to get into promos, and then this happens

I seriously think Riot purposely throws people in that are more likely to tilt or feed.

In my Cass game, I had a duo top and jungle that had Kayle running support build, which lost inhib before 17 minutes, then my bot lane lost inhib from a rotation, while I'm 1v2ing the jungle and mid lane the entire game in my lane. Both top and bot inhibs are down before my mid tier 1 tower is gone, mind you when I say 1v2 in the mid lane, I mean, he was actively trying to tower dive me, I couldn't roam, I roamed when I could earlier, I was 250th Cass in the world a month ago, I know what I could of done and couldn't, don't throw that shit at me.

In my Ahri game, my top lanes deaths (18, 12 of which were before 16 minutes) speaks for itself, he intentionally fed off of one gank that didn't go right.

Yeah promos are basically free losses if you arent lucky or way better than your elo, its cancer af xd

For me when I get to play in promo for example Plat 1 the game for some reason gives me Plat 1 players but the problem are these players are the ones that are about to be demoted to Plat 2.

Skorch1 votes

That is a bit nitpicky in my opinion. I can see Plat 5 and Plat 1 being very different, however if we get into higher and lowers LPs of the same Rank that is just too much.

Its a difference of like 5-10 games.

Yes. I have redone my silver II promos 7 times last season... and 7 times this season for those very similar situations.

Oh? I have an afk. Oh? Team is already 0-10 before I've died. Oh? Someone is tilted and won't play with the team.

Elo hell is real, unless you have the time and luck to get out of it. But for a good 10-100 games, good luck.

Moosh1 votes

stop blaming your team and git gud. If you are good enough you can easily get a +85% winrate at that elo

Zakrani5 votes

Ah yes, typical Diamond attitude.

Silver Singed1 votes

Yes, how dare someone who's actually climbed out of your Elo give input on what it's like to climb out of your Elo. The only people whose opinions count are the ones who can't.

Zakrani2 votes

Because saying, "stop blaming your team and git gud" is input on how to climb out of your elo. There's only so much one person can do to carry their team.

I am good, obviously better than the current elo I'm in since i'm climbing out of it.

I guess it's too bad you're hardstuck Gold 4. Obviously you need some input from someone of higher elo to, "git gud."

Either that or stop maining a champion that can't do anything but run around.

Silver Singed1 votes

yes, but you're basically implying two things with this way of thinking:

  1. that your team actually feeds every game and you're never at fault. (They aren't, and you are occasionally.)
  2. That you can't continue to improve and learn from games you lose.

You're going to lose approximately 45% of your games and there isn't really anything you can do about it. True. You're also probably going to win approximately 45% of your games without having to carry them.

What determines whether or not you climb is that 10% of games that are left.

You need to stop thinking in terms of individual games and more about trends you can affect. If you've played hundreds of games, YOU are the only consistent factor. If you aren't climbing it is YOUR fault. As soon as you realize that and start focusing on getting better and less on the MANY mistakes your team makes, you can start improving and carry yourself out.

Also, you're right that i'm currently in gold 4, but I wouldn't really consider myself hard stuck. I reached gold 4 and took a break to play PBE for a while. I haven't played ranked on my main in a long while. Once the PBE changes come out this patch i'll be back to climbing. :^)

That said? I AM shit at the game. I recognize that. Hell, I celebrate it.

Honestly, I probably can with a fresh account and good luck. If you didn't know, Dopa had a 100% win rate in 35 games from unranked to Plat 5. Is he a skilled player? Yes, did he have pretty damn good luck to get competent teammates that didn't throw the game with poor decision making? Yes he did.

The best part is even when you climb a full tier, you see people doing the same stupid selfish crap that held you back from climbing. And if you point any of this out or offer simple helpful advice that they should have learned to have climbed as high as you did, they either ignore you or convince your whole team you are toxic. Toxic shit shotcaller for asking a losing team to ward, group, hug tower and defend 4v4 or pressure if they are 4v3? Wow, guess most lcs shotcallers deserve bans for toxicity. And you lose fight after fight. Then finally you see an opening, you get off a great engage that let's team follow up and pop an enemy carry and win fight. And you get 0 thanks. Team goes back to ignoring your calls even though the one time they listened is the one time you won a fight. And... you make 1 mediocre or bad call - no worse than ALL the calls and plays your team has made literally the entire game and it becomes YOUR bad play that costs team the whole game - according to team anyways. Hmmm... which teammate should I honor this game?... Maybe next game.

Lothàrs Edge1 votes

Yep. It's all the same. I mean, base mechanics, ability to cs, knowledge around specific champions, etc are all better when you climb up a full division. But the player environment is pretty consistent. Rank doesn't suddenly change or improve player attitudes.

@thread How do people not know this still? If youre on a hot streak then matchmaking purposefully matches you with weaker team mates so that you retain that generally ~50% win rate. ~~Ideally you want to win two and lose the third, because any loss resets that bit of matchmaking. ~~

So no, this isnt your fault. Its riots.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

pretty sure it's all the smurf accounts faults. think about it.

woodvsmurph2 votes

Both play a factor. If you start winning a ton, then you will have inflated elo and get matched against someone of sufficiently higher elo. Meanwhile your teammates will likely be people who are on losing streaks or of lower elo and skill than their opponents. Such that if your opponent gets a 1-trick counterpick or tons of help to hold you in check or shut you down, your team is highly unlikely to carry you - even if you hold your own 1v2. Either you carry, or you are liable to lose; something hard to do if 1v2 or vs a highly skilled opponent with a counter-pick and/or laning summoner vs your tp. But yeah, smurfs play a big factor too. If they are say a plat or diamond and try-harding in silver for instance, even if their opponent is a gold quality player who is on a comfort pick, the smurf probably wins; especially if given a minor advantage early via ganks and/or vision denial. Put this in 2 positions on map (ex: jg and mid) and the smurfs can screw over the other team even if one member of that team manages to put themselves into position to carry. I get people smurfing to learn new champs and stuff, but I also hate when it is obvious they have decent skill with the champ already and are try-harding and getting tons of early help so they can screw over someone who deserves to win and would be carrying their team if not for 1 or more smurfs and camping to shut them down on top of that. It screws over people who deserve to climb and makes them have to play way more games and work way harder to get to their proper elo while also boosting teammates who really didn't play well enough to deserve to win - putting them at a higher rank than they deserve and screwing over said players' future teammates because those people will feed when they don't have a smurf or 2 on their team to carry them and shotcall for them.

I wouldn't mind if they remove promos all together.

Just did my Gold promo series. Had one free win. I won one game, and the other 3 were losses due to my top laner AFKing every game.

Yep. Those 4 games totally prove I don't belong a division higher cause I can't 2v1 a top laner and jungler as a support Karma with Eye and tier 1 boots. Sure.

Firethorn1 votes

Lol I've done my plat promos 4 times, currently on my 5th one... Keep on grinding you'll get there <3

DemainaNyx2 votes

Thanks. I actually managed to win my Gold promo 5 games later.

I would think a winstreak signifies that youre playing well in your division and climbing.

Every time I start doing well, after a few games I notice I get people who play really badly and refuse to communicate and work as a team. It's like im the only one who is trying to get us to focus on objectives and do what needs to be done to win.

If youre climbing then youre getting to where youre supposed to be, its extremely annoying how the game seems to purposely try to crap on you and stop you from climbing when youve been doing well.

I had a player in my promos int feed for the last 7ish minutes of a winnable game (only mobis and running it straight down mid) but it's ok because according to him "I won't ever get banned and I have a bunch of accounts so I don't care if one gets banned"

Kairoptra2 votes

Look, I really don't mean to add insult to injury, but double Doran's doesn't work anymore. The passive is unique now, meaning that it can't stack. That aside, yeah, it sucks; everyone has bad games.

woodvsmurph2 votes

I empathize with you. Had this happen plenty of times; usually when you are in promos or close to reaching promo games. Spent half a split a full tier below my elo because of this and had everyone telling me I was s5 trash who was exactly where I deserved to be. It happens to a lot of people and it always sucks. Hang tough and you will eventually get there though.

When I post exact same thing I get flamed, downvoted and "git gut" comments. When high elo post this: upvotes!!!!

What you do not talk about is that 1/14/2 Irelia game that you had. That was absolutely terrible on your part but you got carried by your team and won the game - lucky you. Similiar things happened in other games of yours - but you can't always be lucky so you did well in your promos but lost due to your teammates - unlucky you.

You can't win every game so just win most of them and you will climb. Also, Riot couldn't have predicted Ekko to feed like this as he has a 72% winrate on Ekko (in plat 2!).

Noblewind2 votes

This is why you should get into the next division simply by reaching a certain # of LP. In this case you are essentially denied climbing for having a 66% win streak. Sure, win 4 out of every 6 games on average and you certainly will climb in the current system, but this system literally flags some games as more important than others. Your win % basically only matters during promo games, how you got there is whatever. Really dumb IMO.

Hey man...that's just the usual stuff. I totally agree with you. I got plat+diamond MMR, so I feel your pain. I don't know if it's fixed, but I have been pretty damn unlucky in my promos game(s) with int feeders and leavers. Best of luck though.

awdaf2 votes

I was Diamond 5 89 LP about a month ago, I lost a lot of games from unfortunate events, some my fault, a bunch out of my control, so I tilted my way down to Plat 5 20 LP, then started to play a bunch of Riven to learn and be better at her, got back up to Plat 2 learning, and now I'm back to playing my mids, I'll be back to Diamond soon, but it's just frustrating losing two straight promos to this stuff, this elo is actually really easy if you try, it's just teammate decisions that you can't control.

Bladerunner77771 votes

If you really deserve to rank up, you should be able to get to your promos again until you win

awdaf2 votes

Oh I will, it just takes more time the way the system is set up.

Bladerunner77771 votes

Promos reminds me of when the test is nothing like the review

Sometimes you see your teammates and are like "what elo is this"?

Junkο2 votes

That doesn't make it a good system. I shouldn't have to redo my promos 5 times to win because it purposely matches me with people on losing streaks just so I can stomp the next 5-6 games after I eventually get lucky and win promos with 0 problems because it doesn't stack the odds in my favor, just to repeat the process.
