The real question surrounding the future of the game

Imagine we could keep every single champion in the game (new ones etc...)

would you prefer to play before rune reforged gameplay or the current one ?

if most of the people will prefer before it will say that the runes reforge + current gameplay changes have been a failure despite it being a succes for e-sports.

Now the real question will be about Riot benefits from 2019-2020. We will really see what is hapenning to the game.

last year lol went from 2.4 to 1.7 billions in terms of benefits if it decreases even more it would prove that the changes of gameplay made since season 7 weren't the good option at all and that riot should care less for the e-sports scene and care more about the curent player base which are not pros.

There is way, way more going on beneath the surface of that profit loss.

You can't accredit it just to gameplay changes when the Battle Royale trend was in full force and the fact that many different games lost profit, it wasn't limited to just League.

Fortnite alone made over 2 billion dollars and peaked as one of the highest grossing games of the year, every single service took a hit like Netflix, League, HBO, etc.

But the runes reforged are more friendly to newer players and will encourage them to stick around and spend more money while the old players that quit are less likely to return.

You definitely cant pin the loss on runes reforged alone and simply saying "revert it" wont do much good

When you talk monetary, it's a lot more complicated than "runes" Do I like the current rune system? No. Did I prefer the old system? Yes.

Do I think they can turn back the clock? Not really since they recently started actually moving towards bringing defense back. Maybe add more to those little 3 runes at the bottom right, similar to the old ones.

As far as money, that's an entirely different subject. You can't just pin it on "runes". Personally, I stopped paying because of their rampant sexism to women within their company, and towards men outside their company, but everyone has their own reasons.

Runes Reforged was what kept me playing League, i was rather on the verge of quitting. The old rune system was trash and there's a REASON RIOT REFORGED IT.

Do you like spending 990 BE every week to get 1.2 AD on your champions and then you decide you want to play a mage but you don't have the same runepages as the Diamonds or your friends? Tough shit, guess you'll just lose games you should have won because youre missing vital base stats.

You want that new champion thats coming out? Better play 30 games a week because you won't have any BE, you need to finish your AD assassin rune page you havent used in 7 months.

Playing ARAM and get a champion you rarely use? Guess you get to play ZAC with ADC runes. I'm sure you'll be fine with 12% attack speed, 9 armor, 3% movespeed and some armor pen

The fact that the game has been out for 10 years or so has a lot to do with what you are saying. It has absolutely nothing to do with changes in gameplay. I have been gaming for my whole life and online gaming for 20 years. In those 20 years I have played Everquest, World of Warcraft, Rift, Guild Wars 2, Wildstar (could have been a great game with better development) and League of Legends.

That is all I played and the only thing that made me move on in each one with the exception of Everquest (best game ever but got dated) was the horseshit casual gamer base in which most of them suck at everything they download and ruin games. In turn, the developers cater to them because even though they are a cancer to the game they play, they make developers tons of money. So the developers do everything in their power to keep them playing and ruining the game or games(PVP) by not holding any of the trash personally responsible for being bad at any game they download.

I am looking for the next best thing because LOL is losing it's appeal now because the same old stupid crap is now happening here. Most casual gamers, like Capitalism, are cancer, PERIOD. We have both in our games because of greedy developers who could give a shit about their game or the community playing it as long as it brings in the green.

We need developers who take pride in what they do and never lose sight of that vision and do everything they can to make a fun playing environment for everyone, casuals included.
