New AP+CDR Item [For Item Diversity]

I feel like the game could use another Fiendish Codex item or two for more Ability Power and Cooldown Reduction combination alternatives and options.

Moonlight Staff: Recipe: Needlessly Large Rod (1600g) + Fiendish Codex (820g) + 180g = 2600g

Statistics: +UNIQUE Passive: 120 Ability Power +10% Cooldown Reduction +UNIQUE Passive: Grant an additional 50(+10%AP) to your shields and heals.

Aqua Gem: Recipe: Mana Crystal (400g) + Faerie Charm (180g) + 20g = 600g

Statistics: +200 Mana +50% Mana Regen

Aquatic Orb: Recipe: Blasting Wand (860g) + Fiendish Codex (820g) + Aqua Gem (600g) + Aqua Gem (600g) + 120g = 3000g

Statistics: +100 Ability Power +20% Cooldown Reduction +500 Mana +150% Mana Regen +UNIQUE Passive: Spells cost 20 additional Mana to deal 150 to 50 bonus magic damage based on your missing Mana, one-third of this bonus damage against champions (3 seconds cooldown).

The Dark Mage's Forbidden Tome: Recipe: Fiendish Codex (820g) + Amplifying Tome (435g) + Amplifying Tome (435g) + Amplifying Tome (435g) + Amplifying Tome (435g) + 740g = 3300g

Statistics: +110 Ability Power +25% Cooldown Reduction +UNIQUE Passive: Your Cooldown Reduction cap is increased to 50% instead of 40%.

Life Stone: Recipe: Hextech Revolver (1200g) + Fiendish Codex (820g) + Crystalline Bracer (600g) + 480g = 3100g

Statistics: +80 Ability Power +10% Cooldown Reduction +250 Health +100% Health Regen +UNIQUE Passive: 12% Spell Vamp +UNIQUE Passive: Spell damage restores 17(+1 per level)(+5%AP) health on hit.

Hope you guys appreciate the effort and ideas! ~ Stacona

I like the idea of more CDR options, though I don't feel AP itemization needs to get much stronger.

Currently, the best CDR options for AP's are all on mana regen items, which limits build diversity quite a bit.

None of these items should be stronger than the current items; but a big thing about my ideas are mainly for customization and options

But basically the items are to be paired with, for example, your mana sustain item--- The health sustain and mana sustain item, respectively, are meant to be (equals by the way) to items like will of the ancients, grail, archangels, and morellos, etc - and the mana sustain option caters to utility mages really well to help them clear minion waves with the extra base damage passive while giving them their mana item [i just thought of an abuse scenario - i will make a change so damage is slightly more to minions/monsters and less against champion to avoid assassins getting this]--- the increased AP ratio to shields and heals should be obvious what this is for - but the item is cheap (stats are gold equal, item is only efficient if you can use the passive) to at least allow supports access to the item - it is for primarily utility mages who get farm and gold and boost their utility aspect increased CDR cap i think would be cool and create another deathcap type of item where one item hits hard and another increases a mage's DPS- a grail or something with this item creates the new CDR cap - this item definitely helps mages kill tanks and not make squishies die faster (which was a massive problem with DFG, DFG was meant to kill tanks faster but all it did was make squishies die faster and abused by assassins)

I don't like giving free cdr to mages. They generaly get 20% with one of their mana regen item. If they want 40%, they have to sacrifice a bit of damage for it. CDR on a 80+ AP item seem a bad idea.

Moonlight Staff: Recipe: Needlessly Large Rod (1600g) + Fiendish Codex (820g) + 180g = 2600g Statistics: +UNIQUE Passive: 120 Ability Power +10% Cooldown Reduction +UNIQUE Passive: Grant an additional 10% Ability Power to your shields and heals.

Pretty generic. it's basically a ball of stat. Also will probably never picked, there are better options for mages. The passive is more like suited for a support item. But support won't get enough AP to make it worth.

Aquatic Orb: Recipe: Blasting Wand (860g) + Fiendish Codex (820g) + Aqua Gem (600g) + Aqua Gem (600g) + 120g = 3000g Statistics: +100 Ability Power +20% Cooldown Reduction +500 Mana +150% Mana Regen +UNIQUE Passive: Spells cost 20 additional Mana to deal 120 to 40 bonus magic damage based on your missing Mana (3 seconds cooldown).

Without the passive, it's 4888 gold worth of stat on a 3000 gold item. Also, you will never have any mana problem with that item. Pretty OP.

The Dark Mage's Forbidden Tome: Recipe: Fiendish Codex (820g) + Amplifying Tome (435g) + Amplifying Tome (435g) + Amplifying Tome (435g) + Amplifying Tome (435g) + 940g = 3500g Statistics: +110 Ability Power +30% Cooldown Reduction +UNIQUE Passive: Your Cooldown Reduction cap is increased to 50% instead of 40%.

Pretty generic. it's basically a ball of stat. Also will probably never picked, there are better options for mages. The passive is a cool idea.

Life Stone: Recipe: Hextech Revolver (1200g) + Fiendish Codex (820g) + Crystalline Bracer (600g) + 480g = 3100g Statistics: +70 Ability Power +10% Cooldown Reduction +250 Health +100% Health Regen +UNIQUE Passive: 12% Spell Vamp +UNIQUE Passive: Spell damage restores 22(+1 per level)(+5%AP) health on hit.

Would be totaly broken on mages with low cd (karthus, cassio, ...) and totaly useless on everyone else.

  1. This is primarily for utility mages (and a few others) which is cheap to allow supports access to the item - the item is only considered gold efficient if you can use the passive

  2. mana values need to be considered very efficient; but the item is 3000 gold with the stats being 3500 gold --- this is just another option to a weaker version for mana compared to grail and archangels, but to help utility mages clear minion waves since they are low damage - if you dont use the passive while it is up for your AoE spells or you dont have AoE spells then the passive is not very useful at all

  3. again either every item is a ball of stats or none of them are because the primary reason to get items are for stats - but AP and CDR is hardly an insane amount of stats - this is a higher DPS for mages item and deathcap will be a harder hitting for mages item, very unique roles respectively ---- compared to DFG (the problem item) a high tier AP and CDR item for damage mages was bad for the game because the burst was meant to help mages kill tanks but instead it just killed squishies faster - where as a higher DPS item will help mages kill tanks but does not affect mages killing squishies faster so we do not need to worry about assassins and burst mages abusing this item since they want items like deathcap to amplify their burst.... again AP and CDR is only two stats, there is nothing wrong with this

  4. hardly broken on anyone - it is a will of the ancients that is more expensive and gives health; but the spell vamp not upgrading but instead getting a different health sustain passive does give incentive for more sustain damage orientated mages getting the item rather than hard hitting mages - but honestly spell vamp and spell vamp like effects have always been better for sustain damage types

1- You will lose one of the "CORE AP" item (Zoniah, rabadon, luden, manaregen item, void staff and boots) for a pretty meh buff on shield. Even Karma who seem the best candidate wouldn't sacrifice one of those "core ap item" for 70HP on her shield. Make it 20%, but reduced on AoE shields.

2- It's a straight upgrade from the item 3165 if you don't need the anti-heal passive. There is way to much stat on this item, either remove the mana regen, or the flat mana. I suggest removing the regen, so it couldbe a nice alternative to the luden.

3- I really don't like that item, i think it's somehow strong and bad at the same time. Mostly because you won't have to sacrifice damage to get max cdr, and because 10% cdr is nothing.

4- Just imagine that sustain on top of ryze's or cassio's. Cassio would sustain ~150 to 200HP per spell (she can cast two E in 1 second). She would need 50% spellvamp to get the same amouth of sutain on her E. And for ryze ? Well you guessed, he is already pretty hard to take down with his shield and sustain. All other mage won't take it, because it wouldn't be worth on them.

i like the ideas, esp the 50% cdr one. i run scaling cdr blues to always cap my cdr on ap ezreal using just morello. more cdr options would be nice im thinking of trying to go nashor tooth to.

It is a good tank busting item for mages because of the higher DPS without the exploit of assassins to kill squishies faster like how DFG was; DFG was intended to help mages kill tanks but instead it got exploited for assassins kill squishies faster which lead to its removal

but basically i am trying to create another high threat mage item here for either higher mage DPS or higher mage damage (deathcap)

What's up with these 120 AP power items? Even the current ones are too strong, because they give too much utility (honestly Zhonya's AP should be nerfed ).

Stacona1 votes

if anything 120 AP is too low for high tier AP items - Hourglass is OP because of the active though, not the stats

my utility mage item, Moonlight Staff, is exactly gold equal in stats, it becomes gold efficient if you can use the passive - intended for utility mages and i made it cheap so supports can potentially buy the item, a few others like Diana can buy the item too since she has a shield but she has a lot of utility like vision, a vacuum, and a shield--- i did UNIQUE passive the 120 AP just to avoid abuse scenarios so the item can be cheap for supports can potentially access the item outside of mages with shields/heals that actually get gold

The game just needs a CDR item for AP manaless champions. Thats it. While I dont want to buff Kat, others would appreciate it like Vladimir and Mordekaiser.

Stacona1 votes

i think more AP and CDR items in general is nice - which i did make items that did not contain mana or mana regen - i tried to avoid items from giving just straight damage

Or the item could be made in a way Katarina would love it, but Katarina would be nerfed as compensation.

So if she screws up laning, her base damages aren't so forgiving.

lower ap on the dark mage item to 100 110 with 50% cdr now is really strong like zhonya's ring strong

Stacona1 votes

110 AP is the lowest it can be--- the ring was strong because of hourglass' overpowered active with deathcap passive as one item--- ap, cdr, and cdr increased cap with a high gold cost will be on equal footing to deathcap- just dps instead of hard hitting power

Rebonack1 votes

Riot has apparently decided that high-end AP items will be, for the most part, 80-100 AP. They're knocking down the AP on some of the higher ones and upping the AP on some of the lower ones.

I wouldn't mind seeing an AP item that builds out of Kindlegem and Codex. Dominion used to have one and it was pretty handy to have, just as another option.

Stacona1 votes

That is basically Banner of Command- sure it doesnt build from kindle gem , but you get the same stats --- but a high cdr, health and ap item will just be awkward i feel and either a mediocre item [never bought] or a must buy every game--- because giving too many good stats on one item that a mage wants will result in the item always bought or never bought because the stats need to be weak for giving everything - old Aegis was bought all the time since it gave everything and was always a safe item to be bought

grail is 60 AP - but honestly AP values paired with CDR can be anything, there is not and will not be any rules for this
