My opinion on Riot and 5.1

So I watched the patch run down and they seemed like they know what they were talking about for the most part. But they said that you almost need baron for inhib towers. I almost laughed myself to death (towers don't mean much of anything anymore once it hits mid game). But that was about the only thing I truly disagreed with. So I moved onto the patch notes expecting them to do some decent follow up.

I saw the baron taking buffs which in all honesty were needed for early game as baron has been acting like a snowball buff although this does amp this factor but he is an objective.

They kind of brushed off dragon with some very good key points on it, which in all honesty make sense after the nerfs to it.

On the patch notes there has been a lot of complaining about Zed being healthy. He is healthy its just there are certain items in the game that really hit him hard. item 3157 's and item 3140 /item 3139 . The problem is with his kit that they want to nerf his turret damage but the only way to do that is to give him better base damages and scaling with level rather than AD. But this poses the problem of letting Zed build more durable. Which would make the "problem" worse.

In all honestly Zed 's problem is the same with a lot of assassin's. item 3142 is just too damn effective. It syncs too well with assassin's. They build damage because they are meant to pop a single target. But who needs AS when you can build an item to keep the chasing going and amping the main damage stats. item 3142 is a fairly unbalanced item to begin with being near barely gold efficient without an active but the active synergies so well with its stats and the stats that assassins build or need that it is way too powerful for how cheap it is. It has CDR, crit, armor pen, AS on active, and MS on active. All of them have huge synergy together and make people like Zed , Talon , MasterYi , etc. really powerful.

Now here are the weirder things. Removing item 3128 (not yet implemented)? Just why? Can mages not be assassins too? Maybe just make the window smaller so its more of for burst than for amped damage.

Still no buffs to the blue trinket because you know it is somehow equal to wards. Finally a nerf on chilling smite (less team utility and less 1v1 as well). And they fixed the goddamned turret aggro but that pissed me off that didn't count as bug abuse.

Nautilus changes. Just WTF are you doing with him. You nerfed his worst part of his game to give him a better late game. He already struggles what is your logic. Same goes with Hecarim except Hecarim barely got touched at all but ended out ahead overall. Gnar did need some toning down, but not much and he got it.

And one of the bigger things they did this patch: RekSai nerfs. Because somehow that ult that only works while being somewhat ahead is so OP she isn't allowed to be a duelist, I mean she needs at least 3-4 items to be effective as a duelist. She is struggling and Riot is too blind to see the problems. And the Janna nerf where they said she had the chance to be a "dominant support".

And then there's the Evelynn "buffs". I don't even want to tell Riot just how oblivious they are to her actual problems while they actually nerfed her slightly too (Rylia's doesn't synergize with her as well gutting AP Evelynn ).

Alistar ... They still won't acknowledge that abusing a broken mechanic to remain viable is a very bad design flaw. He needs a real rework not a make shift one. His kit is so toxic its not even funny. He literally gives a middle finger to game mechanics kind of like Poppy but she at least has the flaw of being very item dependent.

Overall they talked a lot but the execution was terrible once again. Riot its sad how the people writing your articles and doing commentary know more than you do about your own game. I mean the Developers means well but they obviously aren't understanding how to fix the problems.

Sorry about the wall. I tried to liven it up with pictures ;p

Naut wasn't nerfed at all. I did the math and his shield actually comes out giving you a slightly bigger shield at lv 1. And at endgame it will be approximately 28% stronger than it was before. What the naut changes did was buff his late game while not removing a key part of counter play against him.

I don't know what you think is so bad about alistair. All they did to him was update his visuals and his kit seems perfectly fine to me. I can play with it, I can play against it. I don't see an issue so i'm moving on.

Hecarim's changes are pure buffs so I don't even know why you are complaining. His q costs less mana and his w gives him more health. This boosts his sustain in the jungle in a way that doesn't cause any issues when brought into laning or ganking. The changes to chilling smite even act as an indirect buff as the movespeed steal has synergy with your passive. I believe someone calculated the additional ad to come out to around an extra 20 or so. I may be wrong on that.

In reference to the comment about almost needing baron for taking inhib towers I can agree with this early on. If you trying to siege an inhib tower before the 30 min mark it can be very hard to do without baron. If you have already killed their team you can do it no problem. This one could easily come down to a difference in opinion or a slight misunderstanding on when this applies so there isn't much to say about it.

Gnar's nerf wasn't too huge and just cuts away a little bit at his lane power which is probably for the best as it was still a tiny bit higher than it needed to be.

Janna's only nerf was to the size of her Q and she is arguably one of the top supports right now so I don't have any complaints about trimming her down a bit to keep her from getting to big.

Rek Sai definitely needed a few nerfs. Her ult is useful way more than just when you ahead unless the enemy is spending half the game stomping through the map searching for tunnels. Also, Rek Sai does not need 4 items to be a strong duelist. I have played quite a bit of rek sai after her release and she is not struggling at all. She can duel right from the start and I have had games where I clear almost straight to level 6 without backing if you do it right.

I don't have to much to say about evelyn because I haven't tried her out with the changes so I can't be certain about them so all I can say is unless you have put in at least a couple of games experimenting with her you can't really say anything either.

I can understand the dfg removal. I didn't expect it, but I don't have any major complaints as I can see riots reasoning behind it.

Youmuus isn't the only thing that makes Zed a great splitpusher. Its the combination of good attackspeed, high ad, great mobility, easy escape, strong dueling, and great waveclear all piled up on top of his strong laning and solid teamfighting which causes the unhealthyness to grow. Otherwise zed would have no real issues.

I totally think the developers know how to fix problems in their game. It just takes small changes an experimentation first. Just look at sion. He used to be just flat out broken (broken as in he doesn't work as a champion, not broken as in op) now he is great and fun to play. Just because your ideas don't match up with what the devs are doing doesn't mean they are wrong. They spend a lot of time trying to make the game better for everyone and its a bit unfair to say they don't know what they are doing just because it isn't the same as what you would do, especially if there hasn't even been enough time for you to thoroughly test the changes and back p your statements.
