The new Black cleaver is a nerf to garen and pantheon!!

People say that the new BC is good for garen!!

No is not!! Atm you build a brutalizer and then you go for tanky items and then you finish BC (Unless you need more damage and you build MAW or FM or you are 20/0 at 10 minutes and you go I.E) but the standard build is that

Now garen lost an early damage item because if you build bruttalizer and then you go for BC you would have 2 slots with offensive items that provide no Armor no MR (Yeah BC AND MAW are 2 offensive items too but MAW give shield and MR so its not the same)

So the new BC is an early nerf for garen because if you try to go for BC path early you lose a lot of damage....

And pantheon...yeah..poor guy he just lost one of his core items at least for me (for almost 3 seasons now)

Yommus/L.W/BC/boots/Randuims/MAW or BV! for top lane pantheon! and for JG Warrior/L.W/BC/etc!

But now i dont think its worth to build BC on pantheon any more...and its sad and even if you build it for the 30% armor pene the phage build path is useless for pantheon...

Sad day for panth...i guess the BC would be replaced for hydra or something....why riot why...

BC will still be good on Panth. He's tied for the highest base MS in the game, so the Phage will help him outrun anyone, and he can easily apply the shred with Heartseeker strike. The increased CDR means more Spear Shot, and more HP means more tankiness.

If you jungle with him, you can still build the Warrior enchant for the armor pen.

Phage isn't bad on either of them. The only reason you wouldn't build phage currently is because it only builds into triforce which neither of them use effectively. If you wanted to hold on to an early brutalizer on garen there's still the option of building youmuus, which he makes good use of because of the active speed boost and crit for his E.

The reason for the change was to buff an AD bruiser's ability to deal with tanks which I think it will do well because of the additional shred along with more health and cooldown reduction. The utility and raw stats you can get just from having this single item is pretty high.

i can believe that its not quite as good on panth, as he cant move while casting his spells. so he might not profit from the movement speed as much.

though im taking the 10 ad loss on the item with a grain of salt, the 10 flat armor pen are compensated by an extra 5% shred. other than that, the item gains 100 hp, 10% cdr (which is actually huge for garen), and most important movement speed upon dealing spelldamage.

really, let that go through your head. this is gigantic. garen will now move faster, when he spins on an opponent.
