If I'm being honest, this game is just not even a little fun anymore

slippykitten··123 votes·5,724 views

Every single game (after it takes 40 min to get in, and you'll always get your secondary role) you get relentless trolls/afks/ragers. If you arent losing because some spoiled child made it their mission to ruin the game, or someone went afk, then you're getting yelled at for 40 min. Winning is no better, because its the same situation. You just snowball and win by a landslide because the enemy got trolled or had an afk, and there was no challenge.

I haven't played a single game this season that was a fun, close game that was challenging and engaging without making me want to boil my face in hot sauce afterwards.

I'm not even mentioning the slew of critical ban champs that rape face and ruin games, or the horrible balance, or the multitude of issues with dynamic queue, or any of the other torturous things this season, because at the end of the day all that matters is whether its fun or not, and now, it just is not even a little fun.

I miss S5 and S3.

S3 best season they've had, they will never reach that pinnacle again.

3TWarrior3 votes

season 3 even still had dual-top as a regular strategy...then season 4 came around with the crazy jungle nonsense

Downfall13 votes

Nope, it did not. That was just being a new player and people not knowing how to or wanting to jungle.

LankPants9 votes

Very early in S3 there was a legit duo top strategy abusing Targons. It only lasted one to two patches so I wouldn't exactly call it a regular strategy.

Edit: I've also been playing this game so long it's all a blur now, it was late S3/early S4.

Vistha Kai5 votes

Targon's was added in the first patch of pre-season 4.

Early season 3 was the League of Black Cleavers.

Problem is the set in stone meta. LoL will only be fun again if riot actually allows different plausible strategies. Right now, every game is exactly the same.

Unstoppable Monk2 votes

Well IMO you can off-meta support in low bronze. However, the bronzodia culture is strong enough to get flamed for something that entirely works because anything works if you play it right.

I have seen multi-marksman meta comps get rekt completely hard and it brings a smile to my face.

Maybe if people focus on playing their own game instead of feeding hard when someone picks _____ support or decides to roam.

43161549_DEL2 votes

thing is its not riot. its the community. If you are not doing exactly as the LCS players are doing with the meta, or the Koreans are. You are gonna get raged at.

Zeurth2 votes

That's so far from the truth, wtf.

MohawkBird1 votes

That's exactly what a meta is though.

If it's not fun anymore than stop playing. Taking a break is one of the best things you can do instead of forcing yourself to sit through annoying games. Trolls, ragers, and afkers have always been there. There has always been people who flame in games. It's not the fact that the game is getting worse, it's just that you need a break. The best thing I've done was take a break for about 1.5 months at the start of preseason to refuel my interest back in league.

Take that break, and your interest in the game will come back. Until then, stop wasting your time in games you seem to be having no fun in.

Jacknife26 votes

Pretty much this. Although at the start of every month I come back it seems like there's a new reason not to play. Riot's making my break longer and longer...

It's worse now than it has ever been; and not just the toxicity, but the game play has been going backwards. Balance is atrocious at the moment, and if you can actually get a game which doesn't have "1st time Syndra ranked k" or just whacked meta picks like Ashe jungle then count yourself lucky. I honestly haven't seen this much crap ever in League.

And I have felt the urge myself as well to be a dick. After bad games with trolls, you want nothing more than to say FUCK THIS GAME and queue up and just troll yourself. The game has become a mecca for trolling and flaming to the point that it's basically accepted. In what game should you just accept being told you're a piece of shit and I wish you had cancer and you should die? I honestly NEVER experienced that shit until the start of Season 5 ( been playing since season 3). The solution of " report and move on " doesn't even do anything. 99% of the time you never hear about them being banned, and since you honestly have a troll in 4/5 games, your reports carry no merit since you are reporting all the time. Also, what's the point of reporting anyway? Your games done, you lost, there is a good chance you may NEVER interact with that player again; the damage has already been done.

I took a 2 month break from League from September to November because I was away on work; when I came back I was actually looking forward to play again; just to realize the game has only gotten worse. At the moment, I might play 2 games a week; I read and watch League now more than I play.

MohawkBird1 votes

Give me a time in League when balance was not a problem? I think you'd have a hard time finding it. The thing about a game like this is that it constantly has to be balanced. Champion, game, and item changes have effects that are unpredictable. It's a butterfly effect.

Trolls and AFKers have always been in this game as well. I honestly don't know what makes people think that this season magically has 10x as many trolls as the previous. It's all in the head. It's the same reason we constantly see threads come out like "This season is BY FAR the worst," when it simply is not true. People love to think every other season in league has been happy go lucky and 100% balanced and fun and somehow it's worse now than it ever was. News flash: trolls, balance issues, AFKers, assholes never never go away, and they are no worse than any previous season.

Xela Syab9 votes

like many people, i play video games as a compulsion, but I'm poor and don't want to have financial problems from video games, so I play free games like League. League is the best and the worst game I've ever played simply from seemingly random events out of my control. The issue I've had with this game since season 5 is the constant meta shifts based one single patches. The whole ban phase gets whacked just from 1 or 2 champs getting ridiculous buffs and the 6 champs you were banning last week still didn't get balanced. I seriously feel like I have to relearn the whole damn game relearn a new champ or team comp based on design choices by the balance team more than just learning a champ and getting good with them.

WLighthall1 votes

you are wrong its not a matter of adaptations, its matter of the product getting worse and worse. Reporting teammates has become the new goal.Trolls feeders and afks have taken over ranked games. waiting 30-40 minutes for a 20 minutes loss is a step backward

MohawkBird1 votes

Give me a time in league for trolls and afkers weren't here.

Eevee In A Jar15 votes

Also the same fucking champs every damn game. Serious, Riot claims they're doing something to increase variety and get rid of META. It's never been more meta oriented and less variety than ever.

Sintama6 votes

I agree. There are maybe 15 champions that are absolutely amazing, and then some are okay, and the rest are trash. The latter two categories also get completely stomped by the former category. The question my friends always face is: Why play X when you can play Y? Y is dominant in every way.

Knoyle1 votes

Cuz that champ is not a multiplayer console game. I'm not gonna play it just because all my friends are.

38PingAndADream2 votes

I don't think you get it.

You basically just said instead of playing a CLEARLY better game you are gonna play this shit game. Because that other game is popular and you don't wanna be mainstream.

Eevee In A Jar1 votes

But League is the most popular video game in the world when it comes to online play. So I'm not sure what he's referring to. Console games suck too now. I'm playing Fallout 4 on the PC and much better than on the xbox.

Eevee In A Jar1 votes

Also why it's worse now than before; you could usually ban the fotm broken champs but now there's just too many. I've never been one to say increase ban since bannign is still based around banning the counter-play of your team comp in champ select.

But at least you don't always get your secondary role lol.

FantasySniper8 votes

I'm basically doing it out of habit now.

Not that I don't enjoy playing certain champs, but it's like I'm forced to go at least 99% try-hard to even participate in fun games anymore.

Penta Penguin7 votes

So right from the get-go you're talking about '40 minute queues' which i only see happening at very high elo. What rank/name is your main account?

Apart from that this is a lot of exaggeration and nonconstructive whining that is typical of these forums

Take a break dude

Vistha Kai2 votes

Being at the verge of Gold, I had a 30 minutes long queue two days ago.

It's not as uncommon as you think it is.

Penta Penguin1 votes

How often does that happen? OP did say every game

Vistha Kai1 votes

OP's main point was getting AFK/troll/rager every game.

Which is true that happens.

As for queue times, I logged in some time ago and currently sitting at 15 minutes, still waiting for a game.

Penta Penguin2 votes

No it is not true there are trolls/ragers every game

WLighthall1 votes

obviously you havent played lately.ive seen 60-70 minute ques.

GenghisEmo4 votes

There is no increase in trolls. Balance is still broken. So much, High Skill champs r weaker it seems. Choose lower skill cap. This isnt just spam Yi, this is more than usual.

I use to see Azir, now i dont. Anivia is strong, but why use her when there is somethinf more boring and weirdly rewarding? (Anivia is fun, but this meta wont allow her to shine).

Xin, feed, but who cares mash right click to victory, the way my cousin proves time and time (funny too). Did same thing Jax, Yi, Fizz, Fiora Guisoo's or Jaugernaut build.

AP items on not so AP champs? Why? Item OP. Udyr Hec.

Guinsoo's

APs getting nerfed, while Kog as is? And soon Vik nerfs? Why? I can clear way faster as Cait, Jinx, Graves, MF. In so lost here XD. It is called Banner!

It has been weird. Very weird. I dont like less higher skill cap champs (Zed is interesting, though high skill cap technically, i still went positive. yet i struggle with Azir even in S5).

The most seemingly Random stuff. Yes it is funny at first, bur gets old fast. At least early S5 offered more diversity. Now it is not as often you see something new or different.

I dont hate it, but it isnt as ... interesting. Its very, very predictable. So much so, if ur allies feed, or foes feed, then they r not bothering to notice it.

Galgus4 votes

In my opinion a high margin for error makes a champion easier to play.

In this sense, Anivia is high skill since she needs to position carefully while, say, Ahri is low skill because she can escape just about anything.

Through that lens, I'd say mobility creep has played a role in punishing high skill champions and making low skill ones the norm.

GenghisEmo1 votes

Actially, im pretty close to thay. But if u can punish a bad Ahri, then ur BAD.

Yes, she may live a lot. But can become very, very irrelavent. Same with Ez, Lux, Yas, and few others.

Low skill imo also means too rewarding for too little required. Garen, Xin, Talon, Fizz, and the like.

And trust me. You see a lot of bad players feed other bad players. I literally get fed off of Ahri even countered, only for someone worse to feed. She does require some skill.

Anivia however, requires MORE. And i love her for it.

Now i wish Azir were still relavent. I suck with him, but when u do get it right, it is so freaking rewarding. Love him for it. I miss seeing him.

Galgus1 votes

Mostly it feels like an Ahri/ Fizz player has to make a big mistake for you to kill them, while champs like Anivia can die from a minor slip-up.

GenghisEmo1 votes

Ahri early game needs a minor slip. Trust me.

Relatively mana heavy abilities. 2 skill shots. Delay/cast time on R. Weird R.

So learn to read foes.

Fizz is a bit harder. Mostly due to Q and E. But let em waste E. Then pounce on em.

Super easy.

Annoying, but easy. Be patient. Take initiative.

Lux, another strong mid champ, same way.

Galgus1 votes

She can easily farm from safety if she needs to early, and at 6 she is almost unkillable unless she really screws up.

Like Kassadin she has to think about positioning pre 6 as an immobile mid, and throw those thoughts to the wind afterwards.

That is a huge problem with Fizz's design: you have to wait for him to blow a skill for no reason to have a chance of killing him.

It makes him absolute hell to gank even if he is overextended without a ward.

Lux simply operates from so far away that she is mostly safe from retaliation, but it is far easier to kill her if she positions poorly.

GenghisEmo1 votes

Ahri has safety pre six with proper positioning. But range from aas isnt great. It is normal. So i u have a spammable Q about same range, or aas, u can dmg her while taking no minion aggro.

It isnt bad as ppl say pre six. You can freeze lane to aid you. Most players shove lane for Lv advantage. Just last hit, hit a bit back to punish for her cs if possible. Then keep lane closer to ur tower, see if jg can gank. Burn her flash. Now u have Lv advantage and cs.

Usually works the same with Fizz, Ahri, Kass, abd several other mages. At least Gold and under. Even when countered.

Noam Braumsky3 votes

I'm going to be honest, toxicity at least for me has been realllllly low for a while now (besides the op champs just destroying your will to live), save for when I play ranked from, say, 8:00-11:00. The game does seem at less fun, and I think it's partially because you don't go even in lane anymore. You either win or lose, and you have to hope your other member who won their lanes are capable of carrying you. Winning or losing doesn't matter as much anymore. It's about how close your games are.

The Great Divide3 votes

Yeah, there are a lot of matches that aren't fun to play. But there always those few games where you absolutely destroy someone like a fizz, or a zed (be it in lane or in general). It is those times I can say, yes, yes I did have lots of fun

Bear Gauntlets2 votes

Guys, what are we now? the goddamn CSGO community crying about every update and reminiscing about 1.6 the "Best" of CSGO. Many people complain because their favorite play style was nerfed or their champions were destroyed with the nerf hammer. The style of the game changes, we need to accept that and move forward. Yes our community is toxic, Yes the game balances isn't amazing. Simply walk into the future instead of dying on the past

Best of luck in the Rift.

I'm sorry if this isn't the answer your looking for, but the only advice I can think of is just decide not to play. There are tons of video games :/

If your queue is >10 mins, you're in low-priority queue which is a form of a ban.

Fix your behaviors before complaining other people being a jerk.

Low priority queue is a timer for before you enter queue, and you get a notification that you are in low prio. This is blatantly untrue. Queue times just suck for people who want mid. I'd rather leave it to luck in old draft.
