Tahm Kench & General Champion Feedback

So I'm going to run down my concerns and disappointment with Tahm Kench as concisely as I can (not very...), and then open it up to comments from other people and hopefully a red-post from Riot to answer some questions.

  1. Look at everything you can't do - I understand some of these things, like TPing with an enemy champ devoured, would be broken as hell; but reading the Surrender @ 20 page with all these red-posts on hidden restrictions with Devour was really disheartening and frustrating.

I have no idea why you can't be allowed to Flash or grab a lantern (more on Skarner later). Not eating channeling allies seems like a pointless "anti-trolling" measure in an environment where Riot is already letting go of their concerns with trolling via mechanics. So now if my Kat goes in and ults but gets in trouble, I can't do anything about it... why? I was THOROUGHLY aggravated to learn that I can't Devour a Red or Blue buff...

It seems like Riot is pushing Devour a little too hard and just patching up the mess rather with restrictions, rather than taking the time to find a really good design. I was very excited at the reveal, but now much less so with this laundry list of limits on his Devour.

  1. Rehashing - So many champion traits are bleeding into one another between releases. Starting with Yasuo and Braum. At that point it was interesting to see the variations in similar mechanics. But now I have to question what is going on here.

We just had Kalista who can Invuln allies. We already have Thresh who used to be THE Life-Saver. Now Tahm brings yet another very powerful ally-catch into the Rift, at least it's marginally better than REQUIRING an ally. Tahm will also have BOTH a 3-hit auto/ability stack, and % damage on auto-hit... which the very last Champion had. It hasn't been that long since Rek'sai and a semi-kinda-global-teleport Ulti.

And y et... Riot seemed concerned about Devour leaving too little room for Skarner's "kidnap" identity? What are the nuances and specifics of these identity concerns, and why do they not come into play with all of Tahm's other blatant overlaps? And in terms of the kit as a whole... Shen, anyone?

Every time a champion is released, it's a hype time. But it's getting harder and harder to keep that feeling when I see things like this, and champions that just seem like a "different" idea of a previous champion. Devour is... questionably unique and interesting, and I can't wait to go Kirby-style on some minions... BUT Tahm's power-budget includes things like % scaling damage on autos, and are probably stopping Tahm from reaching a deeper and more interesting place mechanically.

  1. My Suggestions - Tahm is on the PBE for a reason, lighten up on those Devour restrictions and just see how it pans out before finalizing anything. At the VERY LEAST, please let us use it on Red and Blue. That Tough Skin looks like a dreamy ability for Jungling, but not being able to eat the buffs is a real kill-joy and a huge disappointment as I said earlier

Abyssal Journey... deals extra % damage on attacks and abilities? What was the thought-process on that thematically? And why does Tahm get this and not something that will make him more unique? Could he maybe lose that passive damage on his ulti but gain more use out of Devour?
