E Gives AOE damage (flat+40% AD) , armor shred, Number of Spins scales (5-10) with CHAMPION Lvl (not ability) and does +33% More damage if on one target (so 53% AD), CAN Crit, can pass through unites

While

W Gives a mild Shield, Targets one target foes 48% AD at max rank and is SLOWED -125 movement, Can not Crit, can pass through unites, gives 40% slow resist (so usefull when you slow yourself by 25%), on hits are only 33% effective.

Riots "Math" to spend power points on abilities is messed up.

Garen is meele. Garen doesnt have a real gapcloser, no dash or blink. Garen has no cc. Urgot is ranged. Urgot has a dash. Urgot has cc. Urgot has a ranged true damage execute that is not relying on any passive.

Q is a Gap closer and a CC

Garen has a Ranged True damage execute that does not rely on the target being below a threshold.

Silence ain’t CC at all, people can still run away from you. a silence doesn’t impaire the enemy’s movements (that is what CC does). And Q is a MS boost that can easily be countered by using your own slows after he uses Q.

As a garen main I can easily tell you that Garen is bad as fuck and that Urgot is infinity better.

You also have to remember that Urgot can execute the target even if he is a mile away while Garen has to be right next to the target.

Speedup aint gapclose Nor is silence hard CC. His ult is only true damage on one enemy. It aint ranged its meele.

Stop looking at abilities in a vacuum, balance is about entire champion kits.

Comparing single abilities is the best way to make a top tier pick look weak and lesser picks look strong.

This thread is kind of ironic since Urgot is currently top tier.
Meanwhile, Garen is having one of his better season, but he's still sitting at zero competitive presence and he's still significantly worse at higher Elo.

That's because you're in an Elo where people have issues not getting runover by zero mobility tanks.

As hard as he is stomping Silver/Gold. Garen falls off hard at Plat+ and is non-existent at Diamond+. And stats reflect that. Meanwhile, Urgot is a monster at higher Elo and falls horribly at low Elo.

The game is balanced around Plat+.

I feel influence is a better metric than raw winrate when talking about champion balance and impact.

He's in no way weak at the moment (especially in Gold). But he has a much lower pick/ban rate (for a similar win rate) than the top tier champions at Plat+.
