Any plans on making DFT not suck?
Not even worth getting in full AP champs.
Not even worth getting in full AP champs.
Works just fine and better with
at least.
I don't know about the other champs, but clearly you've never laned against a
running DFT. On Brand its brutal.
Wrong question. You need to ask if there are any plans to make the mastery better on non-DoT champs and feel more rewarding to take
I use it on jhin, since he mostly does single target spell damage..
DoT Champs are too busy abusing it to buff it Though it's absolutely ridiculous on Jhin with the amount of AD he can get

All Riot has to do is buff the duration on AoE abilities to match single target abilities. This would benefit exactly zero champions who currently use DFT and really only get it up to par with Thunderlord's on the champions that would consider it while also making it actually fit well on champions that should support its damage pattern.

And make Thunderlord's single target while we're at it.
That would make a pretty clear reason why you would want one over the other.
@OP Its fine as it is for the champions its designed for.
The better question is if riot will make something thats more mage orientated and better for mages that don't take advantage of it well or thunderlords (I'm looking at you ziggs.)
Maybe a Keystone that allows mages to restore mana while dealing dmg equal to a % of mana? Something like "After 5 seconds of being out of combat your next spell deals an additional xxx dmg equal to % of ap/ad if this spell kills a target, refunds the amount of dmg done as mana." (Will only proc if one target is killed with it, aka dmg increased ziggs bomb kills 3 minions, only refunds for one minion that died.)
Would add an amount of survivability and dmg to champions that are weak in this assasin meta, Ziggs/Xerath for instance both have to spam skills to farm verus say, a zed.
Zed throws shadows out and throws Q's, pushes the lane while trying to poke a zigs whose sitting far back. Ziggs has to use Q to farm - Auto range puts him in Danger range of Zed. (I've never actually 'lost' a lane versus a zed as ziggs - I just turtle it and ult bot/top when they need help then go back to farming.)
This spell would be great on alot of midlaners, and would -ONLY- work on castable spells, not onhit improvers. (aka Ez Q would not proc it, but W/E/Ult would.) And this should also be a sort of "Deals dmg to first unit hit." Type deal, aka if a spell hits 3 targets at once, deals the dmg to all of them. But if Caitlyn Q/Ez ult, hits a target first before continue, the dmg goes off on the first target - not the rest.
Lets be honest here, Ziggs does not need DFt or TL - TL makes ziggs usually have to go up and auto attack - Which he shouldn't be doing. Auto range is a no-sho unless farming while safe. DFT is fine.. ish? Except his Q is considered a Aoe and Isn't its dmg reduced for aoe and dot spells? (Not sure.) I've gotten the oddball kills with it on ziggs, but I can say I always am in a more dangerous position when I play ziggs with thunderlords than DFT - and Even then DFT isn't 'GOOD' on him. Xerath felt the same boat Lux is godlike with Thunderlords (Q - Auto - E - Ult - Auto just is dangerous if you can do it all instantly.) Vel'koz is good with thunderlords. TL works on most mages that don't use DFT. Although someone stated cass with DFT? Cass right now works better with thunderlords in my opinion. Q - 3 E's. Daaayuum Daniel.
And teemo is in a bad spot as well, DFT only procs off of spells - it works with his ult. But lil teemo auto's (empowered E) doesn't work with it, Q does - but oml its not exactly worth it to spam Q in lane.
So thunderlords/Fervor is better for lane teemo. (I've even seen some taking that movement speed increase mastery for kiting purposes.)
although here are some champions who are god like with DFT when played correctly. "Correctly" being the keyword.
Ashe. (Ashe as an adc is more of a caster in the early game, with DFT's AD scaling and her W's spammability, along with her reliance on her ultimate - its a strangely powerful combo.) Jhin. (Insane AD scaling - do not underestimate the DFT.) Malzahar (Aids.) Gangplank (Barrel spam has never felt more viscious before, along with your ultimate - DFT makes for some pain.) Cassiopeia (I stated earlier that TL is better, but honestly the two skills are both even on her. ) Anivia (Okay, I'm partial to TL on anivia - but statistically - if we're purely looking at stats, DFT works amazing on her due to ultimate reticking the time on it every second of dmg.) Morgana (Ap morgana, + DFt = Death. Thunderlords procs instantly, but DFT burn with morg is deadly AF.) Cho'Gath. (This is a strange interaction, Cho's E actually is considered a spell that applies DFT! So if you take it to a lane, max E, and farm minions - if your E hits the enemy through the waves, it applies the burn! Easy early harassment/ and late game death for all who group.) Brand (I mean.. you know. BURNING.) Hecarim (W procs it, Q procs it, Ult/E Procs it. Enables a full Ad hecarim to do some more extra dmg.) Rammus (Ap Rammus with this + ult tends to be a bit overpowering, not going to lie.) Vladimir (Vlad's ultimate increases all damage the target takes, including DFT's dmg.)
Theres many more that can work extremely well with it, but thats just a short list spanning a few roles.
