Nerf BotRK+Devour Power Spike

I think there was a huge oversight in the balance of Devour, when it comes to champs that rush it and BotRK (100% of them).

If you're doing even somewhat well, after you bought Devour Enchantment, you will hit Sated around the same time that you can afford BoTRK.

This is basically F'ing bullshit becaues both items on their own are pretty strong spikes, especially on champions that synergize with them. But the double-combo is overwhelmingly powerful.

What results is a Jungle meta where any champion that auto-attacks is buying BoTRK + Devour. THe champion you play doesn't matter, all that matters is those two items playing off of eachother. Even champions that don't HAVE on-hit effects anywhere in their kit are doing this. They don't need their own on-hits when they have BoTRK

if you let them hit the power-spike, you deserve to be on the brunt end of it. people that build this way have an incredible window of weakness that can be exploited fairly easily

So the warwick that took half my jungle as Shyvana and even killed me a few times stopped me from hitting Dev+BOTRK and melting people anyway?

The Kindred that was behind all game 0/5, never got a marked camp, but could still duel anyone on our team while split-pushing never reached the spike?

Ok

you are telling half the story... where is the part where they got devourer stacks and farmed gold for bork? if a jungler is behind, being killed, and is flat out unable to contribute, then the opposing team should be able to easily take towers and slingshot that into deep warding which forces them to sell devourer for cinderhulk or keep dying when they try to farm. if they still go down the build path in a game like this, by the time they hit the power spike it wont even be enough to catch up to game relevance.

if you have a lead and aren't punishing them for it progressively, then that is the real problem... not devourer.

that aside, you are correct when you say any champ (well, these days... any mele champ and a select few ranged champs) can snowball like this. i do it with ekko and fizz .... but in all fairness. i could easily snowball using cinderhulk/titanic hydra on these same champs, and get a similar result on a second item finish without risking the devourer dilemma. i do just that sometimes

It is pretty welfare, unlike Feral Flare that could stack infinitely, eventually the leader caps out and Devour caps early enough that you will pretty much always hit the power-spike, and it's so strong that the spike stays relevant no matter how far behind you are

while the damage may be relevant. if you are behind you will be instagibbed by competent players. if you spend 30 minutes hitting that spike and dont have your item 3102 item 3071 or item 3143 to go with it you should just be focused in fights once it occurs to them that you are sated.
