You should rely on your team like a good little ADC.
You're playing the class that is the only mandatory class in the game, and the one that is best capable of taking objectives and killing the enemy front line (but you can kill the back line just as easily).
You shouldn't be self-sufficient.

MisterShameless2 votesAs the adc, you have to relay on your team mates to cover you. Don't expect to do everything yourself, that's why you have a support to support you in situations you can't handle by yourself.

Steraks is another option provided the zed isn't overly fed.
Narsicus1 votesZhonya's is a decent option, you get the activate, armor, and some cdr. Also if you have AP scaling it may be almost as good as it would be on mages.
GA is a more generalist option that has both resistances.
Steraks gives less defensiveness with no resistances but also gives a bit of damage, so you can take it as a half measure if you think it will be good enough.
And then of course you can always just buy Randuin's for the hp/armor, it also helps you against any other auto attackers and can slow people that jump you to make kiting easier.
There are a lot of options, but in most circumstances now if you want to survive against an assassin you are going to have to pick up at least one defensive item. Honestly that does not seem too unreasonable to me but apparently I am in the minority.

But in the end Zeds win rate didnt' change at all, because well..... People weren't buying QSS to counter Zeds ult in the first place, (if they did it was like 4-5th item)

LaserDeathBlade1 votesYou honestly could build Zhonyas, it's not the end of the world. ADCs with absolutely no AP scaling like Vayne are building Guinsoos, you could say it's even less of a deal to have some wasted AP on your defensive item.
