@Riot Are we still going to ignore Caityln?

52% winrate and the highest pick rate in the game.

She has a disgustingly overtuned kit. Despite her heavy poke and extreme safety she can close off anyone from lane with her traps and if you get close she has her caliber net. Her trap functionalities are also really messed up. They can be placed under your tower and even hidden behind terrain and structures.

Her kit isn't overloaded It's way to strong Overloaded == strong

Just give up. That's been explained to the QQ threads over and over again, but the lure of using buzzwords is too strong for mere logic and facts.

Anidan9 votes

Can confirm. A lot of the buzzwords have even lost their sting. Most champions aren't overloaded - that statistically isn't even possible given what information 'overloaded' is supposed to convey, but that won't stop people from accusing so much of the roster of being overloaded. And 'toxic,' for example, has been so overused that now if I want to describe something as terrible I have to use other words simply because that one has been used to death.

Troll for Trump2 votes

Most champs are overloaded, as, when they make a new champ, they set the bar higher for the next one.

It's all relativity.

For instance, after Riven, they make something cooler and flashy(lee sin, Zed, Yasuo). After that, they make more flashier champs.

For me, it began at Vi release.

There are some champs that are more simplified, and RIot has said on a boards post somewhere they plan to make a beginner champ with a simple kit(to replace ryze or something) in 2017.

I don't think overloaded as in more mechanics means anything. I mean, so what you have more mechanics, but the only thing you can do is kill things? I think overloaded should be in the sense of how many things you should be able to do.

What do you think of this definition?

Anidan1 votes

I'd argue that it's too vague: simple kits can be fairly versatile. Think of all the things you can do with Annie or Morgana, for instance, and they're not traditionally considered 'overloaded' even if they are strong - not by anyone sensible, anyway. In addition, in that non-expanded definition you've given, versatility by itself would mean it's inherently overloaded.

Troll for Trump1 votes

Yep. that's what I mean. While yes, Riven and co. are more mechanically intensive, that's the justification that's given to a lot of these champs. Yas, being one of the more controversial ones. Yas can do so many things, and most people justify it with "mechanics."

KorZod1 votes

I think a good example of this is actually new WW. Q goes from spin + heal to dash + heal, but if you hold it, you can leap through them. More complex. W goes from Attackspeed howl to the scaling attackspeed and movespeed (which have an execute style mechanic now, being better against low health enemies), basically combining his old E and W. E is totally new, a damage reduction shield + fear Ult is the old one, but long range skillshot scaling with movespeed and can be bodyblocked. There's just a lot more things you can do and a lot more nuance to his kit, but none of it is really that hard yet. Q is still basically just a point and click, W is a passive, E is self-buff, the only thing with any "skill" is lanidng his ult without it getting bodyblocked. He still doesn't seem to mechanically punishing, but certainly has a lot more going on than his old kit

How is Vi overloaded? She even has an ability that's purely a passive with no active or second passive.

Lee sin was made before riven. I think fizz would be better example. If i remember correctly he was released very shortly after her.

The funniest part of that is lee sin was scrapped champion, and community wanted him to be made.

Well, they are deliberately ignoring Lee Sin because pro play, so why not others too?

To those asking what I'm on about, go check the Red statement on the hesitation to change Lee Sin too much, with the reference to pro play.

Lee being nerfed mutiple times this patch

Faceroll Tactics1 votes

Love tap on ult, and removing a mechanic that barely affects gameplay and in 90% of games won't even come into play.

Some quality nerfs.

Spaceman5pff1 votes

I love how, even tho I hate Lee Sin and think he deserves huge nerfs, I can't even be realistic without getting hated by the irrational Lee haters

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Because what you said is not true. "nerfed multiple times". He received one nerf. On his ult dmg. That's it. The E change has been long due. Riot talked about it a long time ago with their planned changes to stealth mechanics. They could have just reverted the W buff AND nerf his ult. They didn't because LCS

So.... the reduction in power is not a nerf? lol OK

It's the traps. She can place so many and so frequently.

Caitlyn is overtuned, not overloaded. Two entirely different things.

LegitBacon664 votes

Thanks. I changed it! :D

I think a big part of why she's strong is honestly because most of the others ADCs feel awfully weak. There's 0 agency when they're behind since their only fall-back is damage. Caitlyn can at least still zone with her traps. It's kind of the same reason why Jhin and Ashe are still "okay" when they're behind.

Like Caitlyn, Riot just nets away from threats (in this case, the outcry from boards).

6Sfool4 votes

I have exactly 1 problem with her- the arm time on her traps. Pair her with anyone that has ranged cc and she has the opportunity to 100-0 people at level 2. Leona engages while she's charging, Cait drops a trap, headshot, q, headshot, all without any retaliation. Increase the arm time to at least 2 seconds and I will never complain about her again. I don't mind dancing around the traps all laning phase or having tanks unblock a wall of them, but it's not right when she can place them under your feet.

EinarUlfar3 votes

I'm okay with her kit, for the most part; just not the way her traps are able to be used.

The start-up delay on her traps feels nearly non-existent when laning against her, and so any support with decent CC can hold you down while she snares you (and maybe throw some traps around you for when you attempt escaping from that); then unleashing a barrage of shots that make your head spin and HP slam to 0.

rip my life against Caitlyn/Alistar.

Speeedy2 votes

she is very easy to counter, i dont get why people complain about her. Every time I face against her you do 3 simple things to beat her

  1. Dont step on traps its really not that hard
  2. Stand where you make her Q you or the minions, if she Q you ez dodge since it takes so long to go off, if she Q the minions she has very limited attack options then
  3. Abuse her before she gets item 3085 , Soon as she gets that her HS will proc very easy for dmg but any ADC with an AS spell like Jinx or Twitch or Tristana will easily out trade her before this point
LegitBacon665 votes

Try not to step on traps that you can't see behind your tower.

Spaceman5pff2 votes

To be fair, unless she did it while you were out of lane (which is a wave management problem) then you can tell she is placing them behind tower since the animation goes off, but you don't see the trap placed.

Is it bullshit? YEP Do I fucking hate caitlyn? YYYEEEPPPPPPPP Is it reasonable to assume you should know when traps are behind your tower? Also Yep, unfortunately.

MysticFlameHaze2 votes

Not the highest pick rate unless you're talking adc and yeah her traps are bs i had one hidden from me because my Dead teammate Elise's spider body covered over it.

Jeanne fan club2 votes

The reason Cait and Vayne are so powerful is because of one feture in their kit, % bonus damage. With Caits kit its her passive headshot, with vayne's kit its her q. That is also the reason why both rush an IE, it just adds more % damage to the auto attack. The only thing Riot really needs to do about cait and vayne is remove the extra tumble crit from vaynes kit, and nerf the % amp damage on caits headshot.

Mecha Incognito2 votes

A few changes I would like to see:

More auto attacks required to proc headshot (without traps/90. cal net) Traps taking slightly longer to arm Traps being much more visible (and showing when placed behind structures)

Honestly, with just those she'd still be strong without being too annoying.

ømg1 votes

so short sighted, just because they didn't touch Caitlyn directly

they're buffing other ADCs such as Draven and Lucian that were indirectly nerfed due to the Lethality changes. Lucian was meta until Lethality changes. Caitlyn has not received buffs in a while, it's that her competition got nerfed either directly or indirectly. There's also nothing wrong with Caitlyn being picked often or even the most.

Also lolalytics puts her at a ~50% win rate, which is a big difference from 52%. Jhin still takes a dump on Cait.

Lemme just slightly rephrase some of this:

Despite her heavy poke and extreme safety she can close off anyone from lane with her traps and if you get close she has her caliber net.

Despite her heavy poke and extreme safety she has two abilities to maintain her safety.

Her trap functionalities are also really messed up. They can be placed under your tower and even hidden behind terrain and structures.

Her trap functionalities are also really messed up. They can be placed cleverly like some kind of hidden trap.

Oh, forgot to say I agree that Cait is generally too strong (not abhorrently though). You just explained it in an awful way.
