Something I was thinking over when playing Sion

Now don't get me wrong, I love the new Sion to death (pun intended). But something I cant get over is the fact that when Riot revealed the new Sion, they said that most of your damage will be in your passive. Which is totally right, you can still go full tank and still do heavy damage, sure it won't be burst damage but damage none the less.

And this is where I have my only problem with Sion:

If Sion's main damage is from his passive shouldn't he get something more than getting 100% life steal, a Attack Speed Buff, % HP damage to the target, and a Move Speed increase by re-activating a spell? I mean you could argue that these buffs are really strong and I totally agree with you but I wanted to suggest buffing his uh passive spell and giving him extra Move Speed.

Now the MS (Move Speed) would be increased to a flat 400, why not make it scale? Well his passive spell gives him a pretty huge MS increase and to make it scale would be crazy. Now if your not aware of this when Sion enters his passive state he actually doesn't get a MS increase, or I may be wrong, but it sure doesn't feel that way.

Now onto his passive spells, something that always got me is the fact that once Sion gets one CC on him, hes done. Now something I want to see done is make his passive spell brake from the CC, like Alistar. Not make him immune to CC by casting it but just remove it also something that I would like to see, but might be a big stretch, is to make him get tenacity from entering his passive form. Maybe like 10% but that just might be too much to ask for.

I wonder if you too would like to see these changes? Or are there some buffs you want new Sion to get? Any feed back is better than no feed back.

NERFS incoming to sion.. and yes you see the passive MS buff big time in bot lane.. its funny trying to watch the adc kite.

They're not ridiculous but Sion seems to be in a pretty good place right now.

I think Sion's passive should be immune to CC, even if that means tuning down his damage threat to compensate. I just think it's just the stupidest thing to be given the ability to do something after death, then not do anything after death because you got CC'd. It's like not even having the passive at all.

You just tanked another CC ability for your team. Sounds like you did something to me.

Give him bonus tenacity, maybe. But CC and escapes are the only thing preventing him from killing carries in that state

so sion gets to be sion, the after dying, gets to be olaf++?

I like it right now. you don't damage him, often your best option really is to get the hell away. It feel right.

Well it's glad to know what I suggested isn't crazy. But yea, your probably right Sotere, he has this defined role of being a tank that can soak up alot of CC even after death. I'm not saying that when Sion dies he should always kill somebody, no what i'm saying is that, when he dies he should have a bigger presence when he dies. Thanks for taking the time to look at my Discussion, Sotere.

What about shen? I could give you 10+ reasonable reasons why shen should get a rework.

so he`s getting nerfed next patch? .. Lets see E allows for massive trades.

Q creates massive zoning and W stops any trade if you have the mana and dont want to sacrifice the health your stacking from 10 health every siege minion.

and lets see with that passive no reason to not tower dive the adc and tank everything

lets see other thing support sion wrecks with.. he can use items in undead form, so face of mountain while your dead on your adc, locket of the iron solari when dead

Lets not forget sion and Kalista`s interaction where if kalista ults sion in passive state his health freezes and undead sion can be thrown in.

Sounds a bit more work than the recent nerfs to sona.

I think the big problem with Sion's passive is that it will always feel undertuned when he's balanced properly, because otherwise they're just going to be sucking way too much of his power budget away from actually, you know, being able to do things when he's alive. I get the impression that the budget they gave it is closer to Koggie and Zyra than Karthus (Karthus has to die to function, and almost always does something if he dies in a teamfight - Sion gets occasional REVENGE KILLS when the timing/positioning/etc is right. He can revenge kill people that have higher percent health than Zyra or Kog, but at the cost of being less reliable than either.)

Technically, he could be balanced with a version of the passive that doesn't feel undertuned, but he'd probably become a melee Karthus if he did, and he'd be frankly boring if more useful alive than dead - he'd be focused on the high moments of being literally a right-click champion with one ability, which is an MS boost. (Not that his passive is boring at the moment - the sheer drain-tanky-ness of it combined with the constant HP loss provides some interesting decision making, especially in terms of target choice - but it would be poor as the focus of a champion compared to his normal kit.) Unfortunately, the buff to his passive I think would be most useful at making it feel good would probably push him in this direction. If the passive popped as soon as he died (ala Kog/Karthus) rather than having a brief animation (ala Zyra/Aatrox), it would be a massive reliability boost and fix the bad feeling of "oh, I died, now they're just going to run out of my range during the animation".

TL;DR - Sion's passive should probably stay like it is for game health reasons. However, it's designed poorly to always feel undertuned when healthy.

I guess, I didn't think of the health of the game play actually. I just felt that Sion passive needed extra, umph.

I do think as well that Sion's passive is no good at the moment, though some twists may improve those prospects and give his passive a more frightening look(which it should). here is a proposal: -first of, his respawn timer should freeze while in his berserker mode. -second, his health would not decrease but he will take 20% more damage from champions and turrets and will die anyway after 15 seconds inside berserker mode. -third, removing his 10% damage per hit,his 1 time skill, his fixed Attack Speed and his 100% Life Steal(1.75sec) while giving him 50% bonus Attack Speed(not fixed) 50/75/100% Life Steal, a +75ms boost that builds up for some time whenever Sion's facing or running after enemy champions, 50% Armor Penetration and slowing nearby enemies by 60% for 1 second when he roars(entering his Berserker Mode). and the last thing is to give him a skill which could be cast after 5 seconds inside berserker mode that will detonate Sion immediately, dealing 10% his maximum health as magic damage to surrounding enemies and will end his berserker mode.

that way he will get less damaging but would be able to chase and hit more while having a last resort skill.

The biggest Problem I have with his passive is that it is hard to Itemize for both his passive and his general abilities. He is a Caster while hes alive. He's an auto attacker when hes dead. AS does not actually increase his passive AS it's fixed.

I have had some success with Sion on ARAM. Building item 3074 item 3022 . Because the Frozen Mallet Gives the slow on hit, it provides the slow anyone caught by him, Forcing them to either Flash, dash, or attempt to duel you. The Hydra provides the massive LS bonus on it's passive an active giving more Opportunities to sustain.

The Problem with SR is you really are not going to have room for these Items, when the meta says that you should Focus Tank stats. Top lane Sion basically builds unkillable tank while spamming E for minion farm. Personally I prefer using him as a Jungler. His Q damage has good enough scaling. And so much of his kit, screams Jungler.
