You're entitled to your opinion, but I hate Tank meta.

You're entitled to your own opinion, but so am I.

I cant stand tank meta. I've played through two of these already since I started in season 3 and I despised it both times.

I will never ever play top in a tank Meta. Tank vs Tank is without a doubt the most boring lane of all time. Fights are legitimately just a stat check. You click your buttons on each other multiple times and whoever has the better numbers wins the trade. Until each person gets 1 item that is and then you legitimately just ignore each other and farm because there is zero point in fighting. Wet noodle fights are miserable and boring. Let alone trying to take anything else into the lane that isnt a Juggy. Lane becomes "do I have enough numbers to knock down that wall?" and the answer is almost always no. The ability to outplay your opponent and punish mistakes is significantly reduced.

I dont get this "skill expression" thing going around. Maybe if more tanks were designed like Sion instead of them all being braindead Maokai Nautilus Poppy Rammus I would concede, but they're not. Guess which ones get played more by far? They're insanely easy to use and without a doubt the most forgiving class if you mess up by far. Its not even just mechanical difficulty, its the extreme low risk that goes along with it.

"Skill expression" is NOT just fights taking longer. Three wet noodles on each team slapping each other around for 10 seconds does NOT make it "skill". Its infuriatingly boring and actually takes significantly less skill. Just point and click your abilities on each other for awhile. Yeah so much fun.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I've been through this already and know how miserable it is. This is going to end up like the last few times. The community thinks they want it, but then they get it and demand it be changed. Just wait.

there's no way tanks like Sion will actually be the norm

not in a game where carries, divers and assassins have become the spastic bunny-hopping tumors they have, these all-too-reliable tanks are a necessary evil

Every class in the game has champions that vary greatly in terms of skill expression. Some Mages are easy, others are complex. Some Assassins are easy, others are complex.

Tanks are no different, and the three new reworks bring a greater degree of skill expression than they had before.

Besides, 'Tank Meta' isn't necessarily what people are trying to bring about, they just want a meta where tanks are a viable, core part of a team composition that offer something unique and cool, just like every other class does. Say what you will, but Tanks have not been an essential part of a team comp in a long time, not like a Marksman or dedicated Support is, and it's because they've been too weak to exist alongside high-damage enemies.

A world where tanks can actually tank is better for everybody involved.

And a world where all you need to fill the tank role is a big pile of health is a world I don't want to play games in.

Well, you also need Armor, MR, effective crowd control, proper positioning (Essential for any role, really), and good knowledge of who to use your CC on and when.

I don't want a world where Juggernauts and Divers are considered our 'tanks.'

Yes. This exactly.

I'm more worried about tanks 100-0'ing squishies with only tank items, actually.

That shit is NOT fun to deal with at all. At least assassins can be killed if they ever jump on you.

Probably not gonna happen with the extra MR.

Except for Cho I guess.

As someone whose also played through season 3 I would gladly take that season over the everyone instantly dies to some random bullshit season anyday.

I don't think anyone said skill expression had anything related to making fights go longer. I'm not sure how you drew that conclusion.

if you think this tank meta or Season 3 was terrifying then you have been struck with the mercy of not being there in Season 2 when cinderhulk just came out and everyone had nightmares about the OG maokai jungle.

Furthermore Maokai's new rework now really requires you to actually fight to be useful with his passive. His ult being so slow means you either Need to ambush people now or Keep them at place with your other skills for it to hit. While i can't really say much more for the other 3 tanks other than poppy being harder than you think she is, they are not necessarily noob champs in the tank class either. Being tank as a whole is difficult because of your early gamephase, where you mentioned the wet noodle slapping. if you slap just once in the wrong time you are pretty much dead. Believe it or not, toplane has a lot more action than you think. Imagine it like two tussies from a cartoon flailing their arms at each others being like "stop it" "No you stop it" until one of them gets tired of the others shit and gives a proper punch lol.

long story short, i respect your opinion but i daresay i beg to differ.

Cinderhulk came out in Season 5. But nice try.

thats weird...i was told something entirely different. oh well, the date was missed. but still, the release of cinderhulk was the time of the most broken tank meta of all time

Scary Door1 votes

You implied that you were playing then, which you weren't.

Cinderhulk came in during Season 5, and yes, it was part of the tank meta. The item was overpowered but it also created an unfortunate side effect whereby top laners were taking it as well along with Smite.

I have a funny feeling that we may see a revisit of this strategy now with the Rift Herald being such a massive objective (too massive quite candidly). I could see the return of top laners and Cinderhulk being problematic again.

Lol I played during Cinderhulk meta. Its was not Season 2. You're like 3 years off.

I know. I researched to clarify my falsehood. I was told it came out in season 2. Well. Never trust anybody i guess xD
