@Riot Old Teemo Abilities?

Teemo Bombardment

Exhaustive Dart

Mechnobot

Sharpshooter

Tactical Strike

Eagle Eye (Innate): Teemo’s eyes can see far into the distance; his sight range is increased.

Trailblazer (Innate): Teemo leaves a trail as he moves, revealing the fog of war and increasing the movement speed of ally champions.

I would like to know if any Riot member knows the story of these discarded and/or completely unused abilities? Also, there was this thing called Scout's Bounty as well. What is that?

Hi lm Kalista22 votes

wow teemo used to be fucking awesome

I still think they should release a temporary game mode with all the original items and champions pre removal/rework

As awesome as that might be... they said this would be way too much work and they wouldn't be doing it. Sorry.

you mean you don't want a TF with a 35 second global version of his ult that's actually his E? or jax with ap and ad scaling with eachother? or no unique passives?

Twilight Drizzle1 votes

Yup, those definitely look more scout-y skills to me

teemo was a scout. bombard was his old shrooms but it had a 10 sec countdown to explode. his dart was a CC that made his opponent sleep for 2.25 seconds. and his mechnobot was like maokai sapling. and his tactical strike was a semi global mushroom thrower like ziggs ult.

Saint Latona1 votes

He could put enemies to sleep?

How does that even work? Is it like a stun until they take damage?

SouL1ess5 votes

Yes.

No wonder Merc boots included sleep as a CC effect although no champion had it as far as i know.

Scouts Bounty (Active) – Teemo tracks an enemy champion for 30 seconds, causing the target to lose armor. If the target dies while being tracked, Teemo gains extra gold.

I want to say this was removed so that Teemo could have more of a direct role in fighting rather than saying to his team, "Hey, I'll make sure we don't lose sight of this guy for a few seconds". Like a more passive and watered down Trundle ult. Replacing them with mushrooms may have shifted his identity from being a scout a bit, but definitely contributed to him being the annoying source of damage we all know him for today.

Remember when Teemo was tagged as a Support? Is this why? Because, according to Trailblazer, he provided additional vision and movement speed to his team as well AND according to his old Q, it was much more about the blind than the damage. That tag is suddenly making sense now.

By the way, thanks for finding out about this. Although these days, I bet this would be a legit ultimate considering it would give free armor reduction and bonus gold along with vision. I kinda hope when they ever look at Teemo, they change him away from being some relentless killer and more of the special intelligence guy he is supposed to be.

Don't you go changing mah Teemo on me.

No, all of those skills were from Alpha. Every new champ released probably has a host of skill icons divergent from their kit similar to that as well, Riot's just gotten better at cleaning them out before they hit the PBE.

Teemo at LoL's official release was the same Teemo we have now.

As for the support tag - Teemo doesn't fall into any of the existing champion archetypes very well, so the capacity to cover the entire map with wards is supportive enough to land him the tag. In seasons 1 and 2, "ward Bot" was basically what a support was anyways.

Also - Riot uses tags to designate the play style and archetype of a champion, not their lane position. The support tag doesn't mean bot-lane babysitter, it means the champion has supportive capabilities, which is vision control in Teemo's case.

Meep Man1 votes

Vision control both map wise and the enemy's ability to see wise.

Marthian1 votes

back then, who knows. Now, that would be so broken.

SouL1ess1 votes

Copied from DotA. Good grief, at least Bounty Hunter has damage and soft CC and almost perma-invis.

Sailor Mint6 votes

Hope you're not implying that anything in Dota is original.

SouL1ess1 votes

No, because different games copy different ideas all over the place.

I'm just saying that at least bounty hunter has hunter (damage and invis) traits for Track. I'm not sure how does Scout's Bounty (getting more $$) tie in with Teemo's scout theme.

Sailor Mint3 votes

Think about it in a survivalist kind of way. A scout out in the wild by himself, making the most out of limited available resources.

mechnobot sounds like a cool skill

exhaustive dart sounds like ashe w, proably replaced with toxic dart to not be a copy

bombardment looks like the gates of hell have been open and the world is being cracked like a egg (which makes total sense, cause teemo)

and tactical strike sounds like something for ziggs, maybe teemo was originally going to be ziggs, bombarment and mecnobot may i had something to do with ziggs or hermdinger as well

edit: what teemohunter1337 said, i know nothing

junglerboy162 votes

Mechnobot?!? That+Teemo sounds 100% terrifying.

Berry Blast1 votes

to bad teemo was never like this? lol

Baron Perenolde1 votes

If Teemo had this kit, I would be so frigging happy. It would have to be toned down considerably, of course.

Conncept1 votes

So basically, he used to be the yordle version of a special forces tactical strike unit? Pretty cool.

But at the same time, unlike most players I like teemo as he is. This would make a pretty cool new yordle champ though.
