Simple change for Wukong to hold him over until his VGU

Can we make his Q skillshot? Make it a similar hitbox to Aatrox's first Q (obviously without the knockup). Have it restore a tiny amount of HP for last hitting a minion or hitting a champ with it (not much, maybe 5/10/15/20/25? Numbers can obviously be changed around). So many problems fixed. His Q no longer applies Duskblade. His Q no longer crits with Stormrazor. It gives the enemy time to react to it. You can actually flash or dash away from it. You can actually dodge/juke it. In return, it gives him some waveclear. It gives him the ability to hit multiple targets if used correctly, adding a tiny bit of skill expression. It gives him sustain at the cost of burst so he isn't forced into being an all-or-nothing Kamikaze bomber. It helps his atrocious early jungle clear.

Just some small tweaks to a single ability to hold him over until his VGU. Rito plz

EDIT: Posted this on the main Reddit and mods removed it within 60 seconds literally 100% because I said "Rito plz" at the end. What a fucking joke

https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/KxhpANtq-may-i-suggest-a-mini-rework-in-wukong-kit Or make this change to him, i promise it will feel better rand won't need anything aside from visual update

Yours is more along the lines of a full VGU adding mechanics and stuff. All I'm asking for is to straight up copy/paste no fucks given Aatrox's first Q, remove the knockup, and add the armor pen and sustain

It not really a rework more of mini rework since all of his skill work the same except passive work different and clones attack. Infact that would be much easier than changinghis q xD

I think that is a very good idea.

You make a good point here, but I do think you underestimate the resources required to make that change. Needs art/animation/testing for base and every skin.

I do agree with you. Putting the heavy damage on a delayed skillshot actually makes him so much trickier and skill expressive than before due to how it would interact with his other spells too. Maybe they could try and tack a more impactful-feeling passive on to him too while they were at it.

Not really. His current Q animation is already good enough.

An aoe that slams as fast as his current q would just be a huge buff to him haha As an animation it doesn't carry even close to the expected power for a big slam move.

who said it would be as fast as his current Q and it obviously would deal less damage as its now AoE. The current animation is literally his staff extending and slamming down. Doesnt need to be changed at all

It is a bit of work, but wouldn't be too much work all things considered. his current Q animation does work for that ability, just need to extend his staff out and a few minor details and he doesn't have too many skins, let alone particle effects (Even this wouldn't add that many effects) so it wouldn't take long to make it work for each skin. If I had to give it a rough estimate I'd say it would be about the same amount of work it took to update XinZhaoUlt effects.

I'll do you one better turn Q into a SWIPE and THEN a slam! Rengar Sejuani XinZhao [sg-ahri-2]

no but in all seriousness just turning into a skillshot wont add much counterplay IF 1. its melee range 2. its cast time/ projectile speed remains similar . that was one of my big pain points with old Irelia R.

For actual counterplay you need to include some sort of incentive to delay or charge it.

Example: HOLD:Wukong begins spinning his staff outlining a path in front of him which extends as he charges up to 800 units( think Sion but much more linear)

RELEASE: Wukong releases his staff slamming it down dealing damage and destroying the armor of opponents caught. If charged for the max Duration this ability will also Disarm the targets (doesn't have to be a disarm but you get the idea. Add incentive to full charge it giving opponents time to react).

This would be really cool, just saying.

Although maybe it should use his animation for making the staff longer, rather than spin it.

At this point sure, gives him some kind of sustain, more poke potential, clearly has counterplay (I think skill shots are one of the skills with the most counter play too them depending on how wide they are) and could be cool to see on each skin. would rather see that then see him go through the Azir treatment of constant nerfs and buffs.

This is great, honestly I think it belongs in gameplay+ even.

I'll try posting it there

this would be a massive nerf to wukong and make playing him feel like shit, i'm down.

nice so you're fucking making him sun wukong from smite. you're telling me if you juke his q wukongs only dmg is e and r might as well make his fucking clone a skillshot too right coming from a wu main this pisses me off the most because the only real problem with him is his shitty skins excluding underworld radiant and lancer. his real in game problem? He has basically no passive
