Riot, if you can make Doom Bots, why can't you make Hard Bots?

For the record, I almost never play bots except to test a troll build or something.

However, I know many people like League, the characters, the gameplay, but don't like PvP. They tend to get bored with the game once they "outgrow" bots and are pretty much forced to play PvP or quit.

I don't think Hard Bots would have negative impact on any queues to be honest. All the bot queue normally take less than 10 seconds as it is, and not enough people who play PvP would be so much more attracted to harder bots to leave PvP queues en masse.

Doom bots weren't really smarter, they were just objectively absurdly powerful. It's a clear case of The Computer Is A Cheating Bastard.

Those bots don't actually seem that good, just people making shitty mistakes over and over. Do you have better example videos?

Doom bots were made to be blatantly challenging with the added mechanics, abilities, and conditions which separates them greatly from intro and intermediate bots who still keep true to the current state of the game.

I think it's more of a question what could be added to intermediate bots to make them more challenging (in the sense of programming) without causing them to appear too much as Robots. What I mean by this is that bots could be programmed to dodge every skill-shot you throw at them, able to locate any enemy on the map at any time, etc. and so there is only so much you can give to the bots to keep them within the boundaries of similarity to a personal player.

Overall, I'd say, because of the inconsistency of actual players, and the consistency of bots, that "Hard Bots" just might not be possible without making them too different to play against, like Doom bots.

as VeniVidiVelcro said, doombots are in no way smarter than normal bots. In order to really improve bots, the Ai needs to improve, and most likely learn to jungle. That's not impossible, but difficult and an enormous effort.

They had "hard" bots for awhile, when they tried to update intermediate. Bots would juke skillshots blind, they'd flash away for safety, flash forward for kills, and they actually knew to fight against low HP enemies. Even bought / used wards. I'm really sad they removed it, those were the first bots since lvl 1 that I lost to.
