Vayne

So, with Ryze on the board for his kit getting a skillshot, since he had that feel of "Press all of your abilities" instead of "Agh, made a mistake, need to do better" I was just wondering how the community felt about Vayne?

A majority of all her damage is with "Stay in a fight" which is what a majority of adc's do. Stay in a fight. And paired with a Sona, whose only skillshot is her ult, both of them have unavoidable damage and Sona can help Vayne shrug off any damage with heals, well benfeiting her already power AA with Q.

Buuutttt that's just my thoughts.

TL;DR: I guess what I was trying to get at is that I'm not a fan of how much damage I can't avoid. Sona's Q bolts are autotracking and Vayne's kit is built to get in those AA, so when your cc is down, its really easy for her to kite while behind ya.

(BTW wanna thank people for not being toxic, but actually quite reasonable)

Vayne has a crappy early game, tbh, if you know what you're doing. She's like Nasus, a hypercarry. You don't see many people talk about how Nasus can build tanky and one-shot people without even more people pointing out he has to farm for 40 minutes to do so.

If you care to take a relook, a support like Sona, who does it all, can poke for her, heal any poke she takes, and buffs her Passive with her MS buff. Sona seems to me just too good of a compensator for Vayne's weaknesses early game. Take care that she also buffs her AA with Q, so you're constantly taking unavoidable damage.

Yeah, it's weird, right?

It's like you take a support to try and fix or work with an ADCs lanning abilities. Like Vel/Cait or Leona/Graves.

When I pick a support, personally, I aim for a support that holds my strengths.

Like with Varus, I want a poke focused support like, Zyra, Sona, or Vel. With Vayne, supports who benefit her are harder engages like Leona or Thresh. Supps who can keep a person in the same place.

When it came with Sona, it felt that nothing we were doing was having an effect. To a point that throwing out poke was as useless as throwing a rock in a pond. Sure they're is an effect but it's gonna settle out to as the same as before. She just complete shut us out by well, being a Sona?

But yeah, people use supports differently and using Sona to balance out Vayne's early game weakness was pretty smart, if they planned it that way.

That's why supports and adc's go bot lane together, to compensate for that weakness.

Caitlin, who has the farthest range (except Jinx's Q and possibly Tristana late game(?)) can benefit from that but from a safer range, has a poking spell that can act as a waveclear (Vayne has no such thing), a snare that can grant brief vision in a bush, and an ultimate with a far range (rather than boosting movement speed and damage for a short time).

Every adc is a little different. Vayne has her strengths and weaknesses, and supports can help with that. Doesn't make Vayne any different, because Sona can do the exact same thing for any other adc.

Well said well said my friend. TBH when i read OP i had not idea what he was trying to get across

He also forgot to mention that Vayne's main skillshot is pretty short-ranged, and you have to position yourself properly to even get the stun. And the tumble's defensive use is useless if you can't do it well, and other adc's Ezreal have better mobility options. Did I mention that her ultimate can put her in harms way, instead of blasting the enemies from a safe distance? Jinx Ashe Caitlyn KogMaw

"Main Skillshot". Her knockback/stun is a point and click. And with low CD tumbles, and her passive being tripled with ult active, and lets not forget Sona, she can close that gap pretty easily.

IcyPepper1 votes

Oh whoopsies, yeah it's point and click. Short range tho for an adc.

ANd if you want to talk about an adc, you got to stop bringing up the support options. Every adc gets the same benefits from the same support, some just synergize better with others.

Like Graves/Leona will burst you down while you're stunned. I don't see people complaining about that deadly combo.

That's the nature of bottom lane, with all due respect, the way you phrase it makes it sounds like its Vayne and Sona v.s. one person in the bottom lane or that it's not possible for people to counteract a duo pair in the bottom lane.

There's two v.s. two, you work together to cover your own weaknesses and expose the enemies'.

The opposing team picked Sona and Vayne? Pick Caitlyn and Leona, proceed to destroy them over and over as Sona is too squishy to handle the stun locking and Vayne will never be able to reach Caityn without getting hit by AA.

I thought Vayne was about weaving in and out of the fight to avoid damage while selectively choosing her targets, then cleaning up stragglers using her passive.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Right you are sir, but what I care to see is that all her damage is focused directly into AA. Passives can't be silenced and with her constant buffs on her AA (Tumble, Ult, Silver Tipped) all her damage feels unavoidable. Pair that with Sona well...

IcyPepper2 votes

An adc that's aa reliant. That's... not new.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

An Adc who's abilities are directly in her AA. Tumble boosts the next AA, Ult gives her a AD steroid, Silver bullets proc on 3rd AA. You can't shy away from any damage that she has. Its all in the AA, and it doesn't leave much other then, "don't be focused" as the solution.

IcyPepper1 votes

So? It makes her unique.

Graves has high AD burst in comparison to a lot of adc's, Caitlyn excels at harass with her crit passive and long range, Jinx is a hypercarry with an AS steroid and a passive that either gives her a free escape or lets her clean up after a teamfight, Ashe has an ultimate with teamfighting utility that could make a support cry, Kalista excels with a support and her rend can be more powerful than smite when it comes to objectives (don't even bring up her mobile passive), and so on and so on.

Yes, Vayne has a lot of damage with her AA, but that's what makes her unique. That is her identity. She is the aa reliant adc... which makes her especially weak to item 3075 that nobody seems to buy.

Would be neat to see her e changed to a skill shot with a billboards cue ball geometry bounce. Think MFs double up(q) but as a skill shot.

ModAcademy Kayn1 votes

Dude, math. Woah.

I hate how just being near a wall is what gives her that insta three hits on ya, since her tumble resets her auto attack timer.
