Malzahar has more %max health damage than Vayne

Cloud273··1 votes·1,019 views

You think Vayne's %max health damage has no counterplay? Guess what. Malzahar gets just as much as much as Vayne, except his %health actually scales (unlike Vayne). Vayne gets 8% at max rank, and that's it. Malzahar also has 8% at max rank, but gets an additional 1% for every 100 AP he has. I don't know why %max health damage is allowed to exist, but if you want to complain about it, let's talk about a champ that's actually broken.

Malzahar's is Magic damage and can be itemized against. It's also a pool on the ground that you can just... not stand in. Vayne's is true damage on autos that can't be prevented unless you're Jax Teemo or Quinn . Also Vayne is essentially uncatchable due to her mobility and self-peel, while Malz is one of the most immobile anythings in the game.

Malzhar has more counter play his pool can be avoided and if he ults in it you can buy qss. Vayne % hp is auto attack based and when she builds the blade of the ruined king She does 10% per auto attack of the persons current health her auto tech range might be shorter than many adcs but you can't counter auto attacks. That's the reason why most people find her more toxic than a Malzhar

Vayne's total damage scales, however, with AD.

Malzahar's W has counterplay since you can get out of it, and is only unavoidable if he uses his ult. It also costs mana, has a cooldown, and can be walked out of to mitigate the dmage. Vayne's W, however, is tied to her attack speed with no cooldown and its damage cannot be reduced (and autoattacks generally cannot be avoided if you are within range).

You can also counterbuild Mal's damage with magic resist, unlike %hp true damage.

They're different champions. Not going to say who is broken or not, but comparing them isn't simple nor is it fair if you only talk about their strengths to support your argument while ignoring their weaknesses.

Vayne needs to hit you three times in a row to get her %max health damage. Malzahar only needs to hit you once and he gets his %max health damage. If you let Vayne hit you three times in a row, you deserve to take that %max HP damage. Literally all you need to do is walk away from her (don't let her get that third hit). Or if it's not possible to run away, throw everything you have at her. Her auto attack range is extremely short, so she's probably in range of your abilities.

And please don't bring items into this. If you want to complain about BOTRK, fine. It's the item that's the problem, not Vayne.

Not all of it. Unless his ultimate is up, you can avoid most of it since it's a five second effect. Vayne's first two autos scale with her AD, so it's not like you're taking no damage from her. Vayne can also get more guaranteed damage out of if she lands her E just like Mal using his ult, with compensation that it's not as reliable due to it being a non-ultimate ability. However, Mal is a sitting duck during his ultimate. If it's a 1v1, he can probably win, but Vayne is mobile and able to move while dealing her damage and can disengage if need be.

Does any of this matter? Not really.

They're really two different champions. Even their %hp damage is different types, different requirements,, and different ways to avoid or guarantee.

So you're saying all you need to do is point and click with his ult to get max damage? WOW! That must be so hard to do. In order for Vayne to CC anyone, they need to be near a wall. If the enemy has half a brain they won't go near the walls. All Malzahar needs to do is get close to someone (and have his ult obviously).

You said it doesn't matter, but it actually does. Vayne does not have reliable cc, so she usually isn't able to get her max damage out (unless the enemy has bad positioning). All Malzahar needs to do is point and click. He can CC someone regardless of where they are on the map. Vayne cannot. HUGE difference.

I didn't mean that one specific thing, I meant the entire thing. They are too entirely different champions with entirely different kits. Vayne can do things Mal can't do, and vice versa. You can't counterplay Mal's ult, you can't counterbuild Vayne's W.

Good day.

Malzahar, a mage that has no mobility and has an ult that makes him stand still for 2.5 seconds. Also a late game champion. Mean while Vayne just needs botrk and she has already reached the late game. Malzahar Null zone is a skill shot and does % magic damage, so magic resist is really good and you can just walk out of it. Malzahar is a late game champion, Vayne really isn't since her laning phase is strong because of the flat true damage on her w, a stun that applies her silver bolts, a short cooldown tumble that is an auto attack reset. Malzahar laning phase is just so god damn bad. His e makes him miss cs some times, his little voidlings does the same too, he can't even attempt to kill you til he gets 6, no escapes, and one of the worst auto attacks I seen.

Just because he doesn't have mobility it doesn't mean he's balanced. And yes, his suppression lasts a full 2.5 seconds. He has the best suppression in this game, and possibly the best %max health damage in this game (not counting items). Again, it's BOTRK that's broken here. Not Vayne.

Yeah, but you can avoid his damage, you can't avoid Vayne's.

And you can QSS a Vayne condemn as well (or you could just not go near the walls). Vayne punishes people with bad positioning. Malzahar has his way with you regardless of where you are.

Ratbert1 votes

If your team is like "Yeah lets just leave our adc in malz ult yep" you should lose. If malz does not blow flash to ult you, you should play a bit longer out of reach.

You can position out of malz just as much as vayne.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

You're building QSS (which is MR) into vayne (which is an AD champ) to counter %maxHP true damage? Where are the logics? How is QSS a reasonable item against vayne?

You're also comparing an ult vs a non-ult and Malz has to suppress himself in order to use his while vayne can freely attack the whole time. They really aren't comparable.

Lugg1 votes

item 3140 builds into item 3139

You would be crazy not to build that on Vayne against a Malz since it give you AD, MR, and a way out of his ult.

AMYS GRAVE1 votes

i said into vayne not on vayne. on vayne that would be an amazing choice. if Malz built that it wouldn't make sense. but then again those two laning against each other doesn't make sense either, but i digress...

Ok, I see now, I just misread what you said.

Numbers don't lie. Look at Malzahar's win rate. He's been in the top 10 in both normals and plat+ games for a long time. Vayne isn't performing nearly as well. Clearly she has much more counterplay than Malz.
