Why do you guys want new champs disabled?

What's the difference between first time picking a champion in ranked, and first time picking a NEW champion in ranked?

Not only that, but there are people who practice the new champions on the PBE so that they can play them in ranked once they come out.

There was a bug where Kindred could stack up passive faster by luring buffs towards the locations the camps they're supposed to take. So bugs are another reason.

It's not just about "herp derp this noob picking the champ he doesn't know". It's also about balance, many champions are released too weak or too strong, thus forcing a ban so your idiot teammate doesn't pick the weak-ass champ, or so the enemy doesn't first pick the newly broken champ.

Also, as Puddinglax mentionned, potential bugs.

With a champion that hasn't been newly released you have already seen how they play and have experienced their abilities and what not. PBE testing is an advantage some players have but there are always discrepancies such as bugs. PBE matchmaking is also horrendous, if you aren't Gold+ then don't play Kindred right after release, even if you've practiced her in the PBE.

Some players actually believe that because the enemy doesn't know how to play against a Kindred that she would be the winning/carrying ticket even if they haven't every played her before. That's false. The majority of players (I am assuming) already know what she can do, the enemy of the Kindred is not bothered if the Kindred performs well or not, it is up to the Kindred player to execute the champion well not the enemies.

People believe that teammates picking a new champion will more than likely not know how to play it and feed, but I've found thats just also the usual case with old champions too.

because no one wants people to just auto lock the new champions PBE does not mean you will be good at a champion when its released

The issue isn't just an ally playing it and doing bad, there's also the opposite where the opponent gets it and gets fed due to their team not knowing what to do and then winning the game. There are cases of bugs as well that are potentially game breaking. There's really no reason to allow new champions in ranked for a while.

Having a new champion disabled for the first week or two gives players time to learn the champion, learn how to play with that champion, and to learn how to play against that champion. It's unfair for EVERYONE in the game to have to face a new champion or play with a new champ in ranked the first week or two.
