My only gripe with new champ select is that if you pick support secondary you never get primary.

I am by far better at jungling than anything else. I suck at laning but I'm a half decent support and I can't screw it up as bad. That being said, I don't want to support every game just because I have it as my secondary. Every time I queue it's almost instantaneous and I end up with support. It seems it just looks for whatever role is needed and sticks you there if you have it as one of your preferences. I wouldn't mind it taking a bit more time to see if there is a jungle role available and then putting me as support later, but at this rate I'm just going to put top or mid as my secondary simply because I can't ever jungle if my secondary is support.

tl;dr I don't mind supporting, but I'm going to stop picking it as my secondary if that's all it will ever give me.

EDIT: Okay in some cases you're going to get lucky and get your primary, obviously, so the title isn't completely true. The issue I have is that it doesn't take a moment to try to get me my primary role, it just throws me into a game as support seconds after I Queue.

That's been my experience as well. I put Jungle primary and Support secondary.

I almost always support rather than jungle... fortunately so much dodging has let me get jungle eventually quite often.

It's so frustrating when my friend and I duoq, and this happens.

Me: Primary Mid, Secondary Support

Him: Primary Mid, Secondary Top.

Out of 20 games I've played with him (a mix of ranked and normal,) I've gotten Support 19.

19 GODDAMN TIMES.

ahem

I rest my case.

you guys are stupid one should login mid top and the other top mid. This way both of you will get the role you want. if u get top just swap with your mate.

Past 6 games in a row I have support even though I'm primary JG. In the past 20 games it's been like 25% primary. This is getting me to want to stop playing.

Not true

Edit: I have played several with mid as primary and support as secondary, while getting mid majority of the time. You're probably just unlucky.

Queueing and being instantly put into a game as support is not unlucky. It isn't taking into consideration my role preference at all if it just sticks me in a game as support the moment it can. If it is designed to fill a team with either of your preferences without at least attempting to give you your most prefered role, it's flawed. Like I said, I'd rather wait a minute for jungle, and then be put as support if I don't get it, than be thrown into every game instantly as support.

Well since not many people play support, they won't put it into their secondary pick. I'm not entirely sure how the system works, but here's my theory on how it works:

So you queue alone while putting mid (primary) and support (secondary). During the matchmaking process, the system finds another person with mid (primary), BUT top as secondary. Now lets say someone else in the matchmaking process has top (primary) and say... jungle (secondary). Imagine another person has adc (primary) and mid (secondary) and the final person has jungle (primary) and adc (secondary).

Using the data from this example, it will put you in your secondary (support) 100% of the time since it is the only role left open by process of elimination.

Now, I know there are a LOT of different possibilities in the matchmaking process, but it makes sense that you would get support all the time if you get stuck in situations like this one.

~Hopefully this makes sense

seems this is incorrect T_T

I queued with some friends here were the results. Me: Mid (primary) support (secondary), Friend 1: Support (primary) mid (secondary), Friend 2: top (primary) mid (secondary) Data from the other people - Person 1: support (primary) jungle (secondary), Person 2: support (primary) adc (secondary)

So it turned out as - Me: Support, Friend 1: Top, Friend 2: Mid, Person 1: jungle, Person 2: adc

The 2 random people that appeared in out champ select seemed to have gotten the roles correctly according to my theory, but what throws everything away is that Friend 2 didn't get top and Friend 1 got top while queueing for Support/Mid. Still not sure why I got support rather than mid since there were 2 others with their primary set to support. This means there must be something else to the process that determines roles that I am not aware of.

im like 5/20 on getting adc probably quitting league. Used to get it like 80% of the time

I'm having this SAME problem. I play jungle and support and this new @#$%# team select is basically going Jungle - Support - Support - Support - Support - Jungle - continued.

Its like 1 jungle game to ever 4 support games. I'm going to have to start doing something like jungle / top or jungle / mid due to the horrible skew.

I have played 21 ranked games with mid as primary preference and support as secondary preference and I have gotten mid ONCE. This is unacceptable. I understand that I'm going to have to play support and I don't mind, but this ratio is not something that I am ok with.

Put mid as your secondary lol. I put mid primary and jungle secondary. I main mid but get jungle enough.

gets thrown in jungle 5 times yesterday when my primary was top

i've queued up as jungle/support and gotten jungle every time i did that.

I commented on this thread once already but my frustration, anger, and disdain for whoever designed this grows every time I cue for ranked. 1/25, that's how many times I've gotten my primary mid preference in ranked. I only play Zyra in ranked and I like to support but this is totally, empirically, fcked up riot. Never spending another dime on this game.
