How is Everyone Feeling About Shyvana's New Passive?
Right now the more I look at her current passive on the PBE the more I come to hate this change. I know I should be grateful for the other changes we've been getting for her, but to me this is just something I will not let go of.
Before Shyvana had gotten fairly nerfed with her Q first then the removal of devourer, not olafing or sejuani her but did put her down a bit. Then came the stupid bandaid buffs to make her still feel playable: AP ratio on W for Guinsoo's (does anyone even build this on any champ anymore) and then making her fury generate ever so slightly faster at earlier levels. THEN this preseason she somewhat gets nerfed again due to SotA getting removed and Fervor getting nerfed, leaving her without any real mastery to go on except the new Colossus mastery which can be troublesome cause your ult hitbox isn't really the greatest.
But finally we here that she's going to be looked at for buffs. And soon we got to see those buffs. W no longer leaves fire trail but grows in size. I'm fine with this. E got weaker in human form and has lower AP ratio but now acts like fireball in dragon form and helps deal with immobile targets. I'm fine with this. Ult no longer doubles passive, but now grants bonus health, grows with rank and is unstoppable.** Hallelujah **! So far this is just what we wanted but with news of her new passive gaining bonus effects from dragons I got real excited.....and then they changed it to a somewhat shittier version of her current passive. To me it was like I was getting a nice huge cake with a potential cherry on top of it only to have it somewhat ruined because the cherry got replaced with a giant turd!
Just...why? I know Meddler already talked about how she was too tanky with her changes and they tried to lower power somewhere else but with the new passive they're offering I'm just offended by it. You get to do more damage to dragons, yey I guess, but what does it reward you with as well as the dragon bonuses? More bonus stats of Armor and MR. As well this is specifically tied to dragons only, and the only map with dragons is SR while in TT, ARAM, and a variety of the rotating game modes she gets nothing.
Now I'm not going to act like the previous one they had for her was any better because it was still tied to dragons as well along with the RNG element, but at least it was different than bonus stats and made it feel rewarding to you for securing dragons. Got a hold of 3 infernal drakes? Congraulations, your team does bonus damage and you're rewarded with true damage. Ocean? Health regen and CDR. Mountain? Do more damage to objectives while taking less damage from them. Cloud? Uhhh... slow resistance is nice I guess.
But now instead of that where fighting for dragon and trying to secure it would have meaningful buffs to you, now it's just "oh I get bonus stats", you know the one thing that's boring about her current passive? Hell, even if the current one is boring it still is more reliable to have since it scales with level and not how many dragons you've gotten. Everytime Riot tries to make a passive work with an objective it seems to fail most of the time. Skarner's pillars jsut give him bonus stats and turn the game into a mini dominion game, and make top skarner nearly unviable, at least from what I've seen, since he's missing out on the power of those pillars. Mordekaiser's dragon almost seems worthless now since his idea of making him a bot lane champion just failed. You can still get the dragon but not as likely or early as he's now back at top or mid or wherever he is now a days.
My point is, I'm not happy with how her passive is right now. I should be happy with all the direct buffs to her as well as indirect with BotRK getting buffed as well, but I just can't get over this new passive. It just pisses me off!
