To settle the reason, why Riot won't just use MMR as a rank like we had before
The reason why Riot removed it a long time ago, was because, I can't find the link but, they said something along the lines of
"We want to stop bullying by people looking at other peoples MMR and degrading them and/or making fun of them, or thinking they are of less skill"
