top lane tanks and juggs should definitely take it now, it feels so great. especially on juggernauts, with the new bonus HP ratio it's basically a second sterak shield but for your whole team plus it provides resists to make you beefier. can be used for yourself too, since you'll get around or over 1000 decaying shield with a heavy health build, is great for helping you facetank burst by yourself. I think this item will migrate away from supports and towards jungle/solo lane tanks

new might make a lot of champions very powerful again -- juggernauts, tanks, and a few of the high-HP divers like Renekton and Warwick will use this item very well

I came to the forum because I wanted to make sure I was understanding the new locket math correctly. You now get 20.5 health per level as the base shield after the starting 65. So, if you're level 15, that's 287 + 65 = 352 base. Then you add 30% of your health. If you're tanked out to, say, 3k hp, and at level 15 you're adding 30% of that to the shield... 30% of 3k is 900. You're going from a 500-ish shield to a 1252 hp shield?

Now let's say you're a pure mage support, and you only have 1500 hp. 30% of that is 450. 450 + 352 = 802. Going by the math I see here, that's still considerably more than what the old locket gave.

I have to be missing something, right? If that actually is how it works, how would a locket not be the first thing you build after your support item and boots, apart from champs with a specific build order (e.g. Zyra), and then only maybe? With this type of scaling, you could completely take away the base shield and it would still end up being better on tanks than it was before.

Specifically replying to the OP, I don't think this an item like this would migrate away from supports, it would just get added onto tanky champs. A thick team comp wouldn't be wrong to carry three of these. After all, even with the half-shield effect, on a tank it's still slightly bigger than the old one.
