Community backlash means nothing?
When the lee sin fanboys cry that your going to give him a power shift from early to late you back off. But when a large amount of the community says this update is complete garbage, you do nothing. Why?

Because it appeals to the larger audience, i.e. the casuals.
It sure as hell doesn't appeal to me and I decline to play ranked so much as a single time. I ARAM and the only thing I like out of this patch was the change to gold income items
. I've been pretty vocal that I hate the mastery system because it's basically a one-or-the-other-not-both system that allows little leeway for fine-tuning. Very little in this patch is redemptive in any way, it's more like RIOT squatting down and shitting on us without caring.
Because this was a huge update that will take more than 4 days to balance?

Shouldn't have released it. It was terrible in the PBE, and it's only slightly better now.
Why are people so lazy that they can't go to surrenderat20 to get a look at upcoming pbe changes. There have been threads here and videos/podcast that talk about problems they're aware of and upcoming changes.
This is PRESEASON, they're testing out the fucking environment to see how it goes. That's what this time is for, changes will come. Jesus.
