Everyone needs to calm down about this whole Dynamic Q stuff
On the boards, I've been seeing a lot of threads complaining about Dynamic Q, trying to say it creates X or Y effect that completely ruins the experience. And here are some examples: Dynamic Q allows people to be boosted (I don't even understand this one, when playing as a group you get matched with another group most of the time so it's still a normal group vs. group match where it's 50/50 for who will be better) Dynamic Q places solo players against premades ALL the time...apparently (Note: Riot has stated that at this point a 5-man will be matched against another 5-man about 97% of the time, with the other 3% including solos, 2-mans, 3-mans, and 4-mans, but apparently that 3% happens just all the time or solo players) The ladder of Dynamic Q is terrible because it no longer properly shows how good one person is COMPARED to another person.
And one thing to remember is...this happened in Solo Q as well, or at least something similar. Boosting still occurred in Solo Q. While it wasn't complaining about a 5-man premade, people still complained that they were matched against godly duos or with a toxic duo all the time, or that they simply just always got the shit teammates while enemies were all god-tier fakers smurfing. And for the ladder...it was still just as bad at comparisons for all the same reasons. Boosting made it so people misrepresented their division, bouts of good or bad luck made people drastically raise or lower in divisions, etc. But now people try to say there are two ranked MMRs which should be separated, Team and Solo MMR.
Now the biggest thing I want to get across: The point of a ranked ladder should not be about comparing yourself to others, but just see whether or not you are climbing that ladder. When making a comparison of your skill to measure it, don't compare yourself to another person, but rather yourself from a point in the past. Example "Cool! During this season, I've gone from Gold 3 to Platinum 2! I've climbed a far way!" This still shows you have grown as a player, because you are comparing the improvement of your own skills. Think about this, why compare yourself to someone else who has a completely different set of skills, playstyle, champion pool, and method of playing the game? It's completely invalid to make that type of comparison. But comparing to your past self, who will have a similar playstyle, champ pool, and skills will make sense.
It would be like saying "Paper has really improved and become better quality, but it doesn't matter because it still loses to scissors, which is really weak and unimportant." Well no, the paper still improved, so it has become better. It doesn't matter if it seems personally worse than scissors, because scissors is so drastically different it isn't a good measure of how well paper has become.
Note: I am not personally for or against Dynamic Q. I am in general a Solo player who has noticed no real changes in my ranked experience aside from higher Q times, so I am not bothered much by Dynamic Q.
TL;DR - The problems of Dynamic Q were there in Solo Q as well. The only big difference is people have this fixation on comparing their rank to other people's, when instead they should only care about whether they are actually climbing the ladder themselves, and are self-improving.
