Tormented Soil - Grievous Wounds?

I know players are going to be against buffing Morgana; then she can receive compensation nerf somewhere. But I kinda feel like her W should be like Varus E, inflicting grievous wounds, at least for the duration enemy champions are standing in it.

Then why does a support need grievous wounds? Besides, she can be played as a midlane mage.

But is she played as a mid? Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Rengar Support.

I have faced several Morgana mids, as well as had Janna tops, Tryndamere and Ahri supports, and one crit item Tristanas. At this point, anything goes.

Nope. As someone with 120k points with morg, I don't like that idea at all.

It gives her too much unnecessary power and all you need to do is buy a morellonomicon and you have that effect anyway.

what like a dual rework?

SSmotzer1 votes

Yeah, new kits, new lore, new models, new voices, both at the same time.

It's also heavily implied by Varus that they may come with a mechanic that the weapons they have, Kayle's sword and Morgana's chains, come from a single Darkin, and it could mash Kayle and Morgana together into a single champion.

What would be morganas weapon?

Well the next Darkin is a scale. https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/lostpedia/images/f/f0/Scales_of_justice.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20060606184531 So Morgana would get one dish of the scale as a shield and the chains, and Kayle would get the balancing rod as a sword and a dish as a shield.

So their respective shields would be physical, and like with Varus, they may come with a mechanic that fuses them into a single Darkin.

that sounds like a terrible idea in my mind as far as art goes. I cant imagine it looking anything remotely close to the current versions. think i'd rather have leona and diana be darkin than morgana and kayle with a scale.

imagine if morgana and kayle became a single champion where you pressed R to swap between them. like hel from smite. im sor of worried about their rework now. i might have to start spamming games with morgana and kayle to keep the memories alive.

SSmotzer1 votes

Kalye's current art already has her surrounded by her shield, it wouldn't be too much to give her a little glowing shield on her model, like with Poppy's shield. Morgana would need some more updating though.

Or maybe half way through the game they fuse into a champion like Cho'Gall from HotS. I mean, neither of their current kits are all that complex, they could work as a single unit.

SSmotzer1 votes

I know that, but turning 2 champions into a single champion that way isn't all that exciting, and would probably just piss everyone who plays them off. Balancing a single champion with the kit of 2 champions who needs enough power across their 6 abilities to compensate for the lack of an ultimate ability leaves the basic abilities a bit too powerful, while also not being able to put in an ability with real oomph behind it.

Imagine their kits now, but instead of the immortality and giant aoe tether stun, they just switched between their abilities. Sure it would be arguably more powerful, but it takes away their big show offy abilities.

Besides, LoL already has plenty of transforming champions. We still don't have anything like Cho'Gall.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

i'd be okay with an artistic approach similar to the costumes for hel, but i wouldnt want the champions combined at all. my point i guess is that i hope they make a new champion for the 4th darkin instead of combining them into a darkin. even just making morgana a darkin would be weird. especially since morgana doesnt carry a weapon.

SSmotzer1 votes

No weapon? The girl has chains and a shield. The only thing they would need to do to make her a Darkin is put an eyeball on her blackshield.

Kayle and Morgana have no place in the lore unless they are Darkin. There are no angels anymore, the gods are just super powerful aliens, the afterlife is an unknown, and other than the Vastaya, Darkin are the only winged humanoids.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

i'd be fine with them being whatever race varus was before turning darkin. plus they can always add a new race if they so choose.

kayle has a sword. morgana has nothing and all of her attacks are spells she casts. where did you see the shield and chains?

edit this is the only version i know about.

https://cdn.polscygracze.pl/uploads/2017/02/morgana_vs_kayle_by_mowblack-d92f8io.jpg

read varus's lore.

Soon after Aatrox’s fall, Varus was cornered by vastayan moon-stalkers and human mages in service of a** golden-armored warrior queen**. They bound him within his crystalline bow, leaving him to howl with impotent rage. By now, the corrupting influence of the darkin was known, and the warrior queen alone wielded the deadly bow in the final battle of the war, loosing the last bolt that broke the bridge to the darkin world forever.

golden armor warrior queen... well kayle isnt necessarily a warrior queen, but unless they're talking about jarvan's ancestors or leona or someone from one of those clans... it sounds like kayle's armor.

what do you think? i found it while looking up information on varus.

SSmotzer1 votes

He was a Darkin.... He looked like Rhaast and Aatrox... But the love of the two lovers's bodies he stole was strong enough to remain human... well, as human as 2 people mashed together could be.

What do you mean you don't see her chains or shield? Her entire gameplay gimmick revolves around chains and shields. Her core identity is the evil shield and giant ass chains. Have you never played Morgana?

...you do know a queen doesn't necessarily run a kingdom. I mean Sivir is a mercenary queen, MF is a pirate queen. If Kayle was a warrior, which, yeah she was, and she lead people into battle... you could come to the conclusion that she is a golden armored warrior queen.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

those arent physical weapons. the "chains" or "shackles" part of morganas R was meant to make the move sound edgy. the actual move is a soul tether that drains life force. her E is a magic veil and not a physical shield like a buckler or targe. in other words it's magic based spells that are made into physical forms that at best resemble a chain and a shield - which neither do. one's a bubble dome and the other is a beam of energy.

im pretty sure the darkin are stored inside of physical weapons as a result of losing the war and not because it's their natural state. so the fourth darkin doesnt necessarily need to be in a weapon. they're just creatures from another realm.

one important side note. morgana and kayle have wings. kayle flies. if they give morgana and kayle wings and make them vestyan or however it's spelled then they'll lose their identities as angel and fallen angel and instead become raven and eagle. which are honestly pretty lame.

then there's the fact that since angels and fallen angels are no longer a thing... the whole thematic of kayle being able to fly because she's righteous and morgana having to walk because she's corrupt basically goes out the door.

my solution? remove their wings and make kayle walk. i think it would be very interesting. most players enjoyed the two because of their personalities anyway and the good and evil aspect. then they could become rival sisters lording over the two factions involved in the darkin war (mages and warriors). plus it'd be nice to see morgana walking without that god awful slumped back that is used to show her wings. plus fixing her dress up to be elegant would be rather interesting as well. kayle would need a walk animation and it'd be great if she didnt have a helmet or had slightly more detailed armor. then they could fix her wonky on hit gameplay that upsets everyone because op or up due to fighter supports.

SSmotzer1 votes

Yes, when she was first conceived as a champion, her chains were magical and held her too the ground... but that isn't Morgana anymore. It doesn't take a genius to imagine Morgana with chains around her that are alive. Who knows, maybe the dishes of the scale are ethereal, and Morgana can summon the "shield" with her Darkin chains.

I know, but the 4th Darkin is going to be a scale, like how the 3 we have correlate to the four horsemen of the apocalypse, the next one will represent Famine, who holds a scale, that balances all things, used by the Great Balance, lead by the golden armored warrior queen, who is Kayle, who chained the rest of the Darkin underground, with the Darkin's chains, which Morgana now has.

They don't need to be Vastaya, they could just have transformed, like Kayn, and grew wings, like Aatrox, and then, like with Varus, they can fuse together.

Yes, and Morgana will also be able to fly.

I don't think they are going to make Kayle good or Morgana evil, even now their morality is questionable. Kayle is authoritarian, and obeys the gods' every wish, while Morgana is more about freedom. Like with the renaissance's depictions of Lucifer, who was not an agent of evil, but was a champion of freedom and equality, and was cast from Heaven.

I think if they remodel Morgana, she will have a female version of Varus's demon pants and have a demon dress. Kayle will NEED too keep the helmet, otherwise, what are they going to do with the Unmasked Kayle skin?

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

having morgana fuze with kayle would be literally the dumbest thing ever.

i'd rather have them just be rival sisters that fought the darkin than to try to force some weird BS stitched together weapon onto them just because OH WE NEED x CHAMPION WITH y THEME TO COMPLETE OUR 4 APOCALYPSE HORSEMEN LETS USE THIS ONE THAT WE HAVE ALREADY. honestly if anyone was going to be the scale based darkin i'd think zed would make a great darkin for balance.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

morgana and kayle are the rival sisters of the magelords and the protectorates. that is certain

everything else is speculation.

hopefully... riot just makes them human and give them more stylized clothes. the balance scales of the four horsemen does not fit them at all. the black horse, famine, is not accurate nor is it sensible. besides there are 5 darkin. why would darkin be fighting darkin? the magelords and the protectorate fought against the darkin.

IF the 2 darkin left were trapped inside of gems instead of weapons and those gems were what gave morgana and kayle their powers to transform then maybe i could see it, but as far as a scale goes that's too much of a stretch.

SSmotzer1 votes

What do you mean stitched together? The weapon is a god damn scale. The Darkin would hold out the sword, like the Lady of Justice, and chains would hold Kayle's divine shield, and Morgana's black shield as if they were being weight on the scale, and when they cast their shields, the dish of the scale would fly out and shield their target. That sounds badass.

The Darkin's rivals are the Great Balance, lead by a female warrior in golden armor... Scale.. balance... darkin... angels... do you literally not see it?

Riot has introduced the fact that Darkin can take two people and fuse them together... why would Riot make such a big deal about that if they were not gonna use that as a mechanic? In story telling, it's called Chekhov's gun. If you introduce a gun in the first act, it's going to be shot in the second. It's story telling 101.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

...that's not how you make a game. that's how you write a book. games are not books. there are books that claim to be games, but they're just interactive books. you wouldnt call a popup book a game would you? just because you can move the character around on the page doesnt make it a game.

i'll humor you though, but a sword with two chained shield is just idiotic. so i'll be changing that part.

morgana uses dark magic. kayle uses holy magic. if you want them to be darkin so badly and want them to represent the balance carried by the 4 horsemen then give them interlocking pendants. pendants are on chains. pendants can be used in fantasy as a way to grant or amplify magical properties. have one be purple and one be gold. and there's your scale in the form of yin and yang. way more practical and way less of a stretch.

you want them to combine? okay. give them a passive that allows them to do to each other what kayn does to his opponents with the exception being that it grants buffs to their ally instead of dealing damage. after a certain amount of time they separate.

when they combine they become a 4 white winged humanoid demon that glows gold and strikes with purple lightning. in a similar fashion to swains new r. whoever enters the other player can choose to exit early, but will be unable to control the movement or actions otherwise. the aura will weaken enemy players magic resist and armor and slow while dealing hybrid AOE DOT damage.

morgana and kayles R's could require HP or mana per second and be toggle capable.

kayle's R will be her rightous flying mode, grant her wings of an eagle allowing her to fly and deal ranged magic damage to targets. morganas R will grant her wings (similar to a crows) and allow her to fly and siphon health through a tether from nearby targets slowing them while tethered and stunning them if they're under the effect for 3 seconds.

kayles E will be a shield that grants protection from physical damage morganas E will be a shield that grants protection from magical damage

kayles W will be an AOE heal and movement speed buff morganas W will be an AOE DOT slow that shreds magic resist.

kayles Q will be an attack speed buff that slows and shreds armor. morganas Q will be a skill shot snare.

SSmotzer1 votes

So sisters who are the personification of light and dark, good and evil, aren't properly represented by a scale? Do... Do you not know what a scale is? The lore has a group called the Great Balance, which is lead by a golden armored warrior queen.

Okay, let's say Kayle has 1 half of a Darkin and she dominates it, like Kayn can dominate Rhaast, and then she uses that Darkin to fight other Darkin, meanwhile Morgana has the other half of that Darkin and she is dominated by it, like when Rhaast dominates Kayn. Does that not make sense?

...but Riot doesn't want to make them gems, they want to make them the 4 weapons of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. Because in the lore, the apocalypse is literally going to happen soon. Zoe is a messenger from the gods saying the gods are going to all die.

...Have you ever played Fallout 3? In that game, when you enter the first town, the first thing they introduce is a live atomic bomb at the center of town, when that quest ends, you either disarm or detonate that bomb. When you enter the Brotherhood of Steel's stronghold, they show you into a lab with a giant robot in it, at the end of their quest, that giant robot gets up and blows it's way to the end of the game. Even in video games, if they introduce something at the beginning, by the end, you're going to be involved with that.

...but their kits already have chains, a sword, and 2 shields... Why would putting them together be more of a stretch than ignoring the obvious analogy to the black ride, in favor of a rock? Is a chain sword really too much of a stretch? Like, imagine the keyblade from Kingdom hearts, but the keychains hold 2 demonic eyeballs.

and comparing it to a scale or balance is laughable.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

i disagree. i think it looks horrendous. that's my personal opinion so we can disagree.

i feel sorry for the person that got that tattoo.

personal opinion aside, that sword would be completely useless as a weapon. those shields would be too small to protect or too large to be attached to the sword.

at best it'd be an emblem, but we're talking about having an actual weapon for the darkin to reside - right? so... have fun lugging all of that nonsense around.

check this out though. why wouldnt you be happy with this? https://imgur.com/KU5i7hh https://imgur.com/woiLQ0Q

SSmotzer1 votes

Or you know, the shields can fly... like Aatrox's sword or Kayn's scythe... Like, imagine Kayle as she is now, but a chain of light is coming off of the sword and going into a ball above her head, like a halo, which she then throws at people to shield them. Meanwhile Morgana has chains wrapped around her, which leads to what looks like a broken halo above her head, which she throws out to shield people.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

why dont you try drawing what youre envisioning because the way you're describing it to me sounds awful.

you make it sound like kayles sword is now a flail, but for some reason the ball floats above her head, but balls arent halos so now it's a disk? and morgana is apparently jacob marley now (see image below) with a cracked eye that's apparently also a disk above her? not trying to shoot down this idea, but it sounds both cluttered and unappealing.

https://adversusapologetica.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/jacob-marley.jpg

SSmotzer1 votes

I don't have a pencil, or a tablet. I could MS paint with my mouse, but no one wants too see that.

Well, it's a dish, so from an overhead perspective, it would look like a halo, like the one she has now, but when it isn't flaming it's just a little glowing half sphere. Morgana's would be broken, and glow when she ults.

Also yeah, you hit the nail on the head with Morgana. https://pre00.deviantart.net/115a/th/pre/i/2013/153/a/e/ghost_bride_morgana_riotzeronis_by_zeronis-d67lcfb.jpg

Cover that bitch in chains, bitches love chains.

SSmotzer1 votes

Of course it looks lame, you made that in MS paint.

And the chain can be longer, and doesn't necessarily have to be so tight on Morgana or lead directly to the halo.

Imagine me covering her sword in bad MS paint fire and giving her a bad MS paint fire halo, that would look stupid, but that's what happens when she pushes E.

BLACK REALM GOD1 votes

i never liked her E, but i dont think it looks stupid in ms paint or in the game. it made sense when she was an angel. if you were to tell me that kayle glows a fiery red and gains a halo when she uses her E i would be like... oh she's an angel? you wouldnt have to say anything else. giving morgana chains and a broken halo doesnt do that same thing. giving her chains makes me think she's a ghost or an escaped prisoner. giving her a broken disk above her head makes me think she's got a bug going on with her since broken disks dont signify fallen angels. horns and damaged wings do. so that's what i mean when i say that the image of morgana covered in chains with a disk over her head doesnt make sense. especially if we're trying to make their kits remotely similar to what they are currently.

not having a halo in the first place when they're not angles or demons is step 1 to making a decent rework. if there are no angels or demons it's better to not make them seem like angels or demons.

step two is to remove their elongated ears. the simple fact that morgana looks like an elf and that her ears do not even remotely resemble her character portrait is annoying to say the least. we dont want to mistake her for whatever race janna is or for a humanoid yordle hybrid or a vestayan.

for that same reason (not mistsaking her as a vastayan) we should remove OR change her wings. if you look at all of the current champions that are darkin they have a sort of melted flesh with rocky bone look to them. almost dragonic in a sense. i dont personally think her wings would be appealing if they were to become like aatroxes

aatrox for example has wings, but they dont look anything at all like normal wings. they're bent and extremely veiny. they appear to be made of rock and magma rather than bone and flesh with a red and greyish color pallete.

http://stickskills.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/league-of-legends-aatrox-model.png

varus looks very similar to his old model with a few changes to hues and such. this was likely for aesthetic purposes so that the fans would still enjoy varus's look. what varus shows us is that darkin can cause a blackish/purple color as well as the red/grey color tint. so morgana could still have her blackish/purple color except it would need to be changed a bit and made more crystalline. likely more so towards her upper body if she continues to wear her dress since the crystallization replaces flesh not clothing. you can see that with rhaast.

http://orig15.deviantart.net/867c/f/2012/161/f/d/fd1b6b424c0e037a25ddd82c6f8eead3-d52zeal.jpg

kayn and rhaast were designed specifically to be the darkin guide to follow. so Rhaast shows us what a darkin looks like and kayn shows us what happens when a darkin has been conquered as well as what it might look like when they're inbetween those forms. once again with rhaast we see those dragonic/demonic looking elements. the biggest thing to note about shadow form kayn is that shadow form kayn takes many many years of kayn's life to accomplish and is only a hypothetical. hence the long black hair as opposed to his initial shortened ponytail that's wrapped. it also signifies that he's awakened. the one major thing to note though is that rhaast is creeping in through the hand that kayn carries his weapon with. if kayle has conquered a darkin she would no longer look like a darkin at all. in fact the shadow kayn outfit has no traces of darkin involved with it. instead the weapon has become more powerful and has reverted to it's normal state. https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-c4J7MDIrLr0/WVMtKp1rCcI/AAAAAAABEQA/5omxTG3PzCoRsrYopwTp1Foyf4txnXyNQCLcBGAs/s1600/kayn3.jpg

if we think about kayles sword she has several of those blue colored gems in her sword and one very big one at both the hilt and the tip of her sword. this would be a prime place for her blue "eye" of her conquered darkin. but because she's conquered it the lack of darkin properties in her sword and appearance should be noted. if morgana has fallen victim to the darkin then her form would be more akin to rhaast and no longer human. so she couldnt be completely conquered. she'd have to be in a state of limbo like varus. Morganas current appearance is that of a woman with fairly normal lower and mid section that is very pale/white with elongated fingers, elongated ears, and unique eyes. she currently has damaged eagle wings that are purple. since she carries no weapon and the majority of her changes are on her mid to upper body i think it would make sense to either imbue her crown with a darkin gem or give her a pendant that is imbued with a darkin gem. this could become the "eye". I want to point out though that there doesnt need to be an eye. varus has no eye on his bow.

halos and horns are not present in shadow kayn or varus nor are their ears elongated. if morganas ears are to stay elongated then the crown would make the most sense as it would explain her ears.

one solution to your desire to grant morgana chains is that you COULD put some anklets on her legs, some wristcuffs on her hands and give her a broken chain coming from each that signifies she IS an escaped prisoner. that she was imprisoned due to the darkin having majority control over her mind, but since she's kayles sister she was imprisoned instead of being killed. or perhaps they were trying to cure her of the darkin.

instead of a clean and pretty dress she could get a torn dress that exposes her feet being transformed into the crystaline like darkin flesh.

her wings would need to go. or they could stay as long as they're changed from an eagle's appearance to a more crystalline and rocky form - which i dont think would be all that appealing.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there are five Darkin, three of whom are known (Aatrox Kayn Varus) However, Varus's short story that came with his lore update gives a suggestion to who the fourth or fifth maybe. If what you say is accurate, then tell me this; which one is/will be Varus's sister?

SSmotzer1 votes

Both. Kayle and Morgana would have 2 halves of a single female Darkin. Kayle has conquered her half, like when Kayn enters his shadow assassin form, and Morgana would be corrupted by the Darkin. Then, like with Varus, they could have a mechanic that fuses Kayle and Morgana into the female Darkin.

That would make these 4 Darkin representing the four horsemen of the apocalypse. The last Darkin is probably in space.. or dead, somewhere in the Shadow Isles. If you have ever heard of the Baba Yaga, it's a story of a witch who somehow has the four horsemen just hanging out in her woods. That will probably be the inspiration for the 5th and last Darkin, who will probably their mother.

Seriously? Is that what Riot is planning? What's your source; I have to see it in order to believe this.

SSmotzer1 votes

It's mostly educated guesses. The Darkin are obviously directly linked to the four horsemen, with a sword, scythe, bow, and lastly a scale.

Kayle and Morgana being winged immortals doesn't mesh with the current lore, either making them Vastaya, which isn't very likely, or they are Darkin, a race a demonic winged immortals who can be turned angelic.

Also, both of their kits fits perfectly with a scale: A sword, chains, and 2 shields. Thematically they are all about balance.

Riot has talked about how they want to make a champion based on the Baba Yaga, and she is also tied to the 4 horsemen. I mean, Riot turned Varus into 2 guys who were fused together with a bow, they could do just about anything, which could just be a set up for Darkin lore fusing people, so when 2 champions have that mechanic it isn't pulled out of thin air. Good ol' Chekhov's gun.

That's probably because they are sisters, and could be referencing that lady of justice, the blindfolded one who holds a scale and sword as well? You know? Balance of two extremes? Also, if I recall right, Riot also considered redoing their lore to make them vastayan. However, I do wonder how, if your conjecture proves accurate, the two split if they were once one.

SSmotzer1 votes

Well no, the scale was one, she was the Darkin. Morgana and Kayle just use the scale, and transformed, like with Kayn, but they grew wings?... Or maybe they were Vastaya who use the scale? Who know, maybe Targon just went pop and blinked them into existence, then was like, "yo here's a Darkin don't use it to bring about the apocalypse, lol bye."
