Where to start... Can we please build out of and those out of ?

Can we do that with the AP items as well? And can build from ?

A lot of the times a marksman or mage stays too far behind because they have to save 1550 or 1600 without spending it on anything when the opposition may already have it and proceed to bully you out of lane because of this. If you made it easier to advance into the late game by allowing a player to build up from weaker items, you can make it a lot easier to turn the tide of a game.

Riot explained this before with the change to defensive items. Defensive items build out of one another easily because, by nature, they are reactionary items. Making them available at low costs item 1029 item 1033 is necessary to maintain that reactionary element to them, and allowing these said reactionary items to reach any end result requiring Armor or Magic Resist allows the reactionary buys to never be a gold sink.

On the other hand however, they have explained that offensive items are more of an investment. Smooth buying patterns would only lower the barrier of entry for carries to reach their power spikes, which also takes away the strategic value of separating Early Game Lane Bullies from Mid Game burst carries or Late Game Hyper Carries. It forces players to consider when and how their champion is at their strongest and puts serious weight to a carry's decisions (ex. Late Game Hyper Carries need to worry about how they will achieve their late game status thanks to the quirky nature of their expensive build paths).
