Concerning Sion's upcoming buff

2hp to 3hp for kills is nice, really really nice.

Although i would rather see something else in all honesty,

Why not take this as an opportunity to solidify a niche for him, tank wise, with the new hp stacking keystone all tanks essentially become Sion .

And quite frankly just stacking hp, while nice and fun and all doesn't really give him a niche as afar as tanking goes.

Enemy team has Mages/casters you can pick Galio or Maokai They have AD or auto attackers pick Taric Malphite Rammus

this is jsut a few examples of coarse but they all have a tank niche, some are good all round tanks vs mixed damage because they can up both resists some have attackspeed slows some have healing gated through abiliy casts

Sion gets plain old health

Personally i was thinking of doing things a bit differently

Making his W passive grant additional effects, and i thought up a name for it Cold dead flesh He gains X% of his farmed health as

  • Attack speed slow on being hit ( cold dead flesh slows you down ) 1%
  • Flat reduced damage after resistances ( cold dead flesh does not bleed ) 2%
  • Additional base health regeneration ( compensates a bit for his high health values for reasonable regen time) 1%

This would give him a niche vs smaller amounts of damage like bleed effects and on hit damage, but won't really help vs harder hitting damage other tanks have high base resistances or innate abilities to help with that Sion however does not

This will give him a little of that old passive effect back making him tougher vs smaller amounts of damage like dot's and on hit effects.

That being said i will settle for the extra health

Oh and one more thing, i would love it if his Q damage reduction vs minions would scale up to dealing full damage again by level 18 i understand the necessity in the earlier stages of the game but it becomes quite a hassle when minions start leveling up

Idk. I think Sion's zoning potential on tanks is one of the best out there so that and his powerful engage make him stand out.

fully agree with that,

However i was talking more about a tanking niche.

Other tanks also have things they are great at, like poppy being a very solid warden hammering people away and stopping divers, taric is another example with his shields bonus armor heals and invulnerability ultimate. Other tanks have more reliable engage like malphite, with additional heavy attack speed slows to go in and neutralize the enemy carry for a bit.

They all have different tools but in addition to that many have a tank niche as well, although not all of them ill have to admit but that should be fixed imo.

I think with Sion it's that his engage distance is massive compared to other vanguards/tanks.

The only tanks that can really rival his distance are Galio, Shen, and Tahm. Two of them need to target an ally to make it work and two of them don't even match his range until rank 16. Those three are also Wardens, making Sion the only cross map vanguard.

The closest Vanguard we have to that engage power is Zac, though it is much shorter in comparison and can be stopped by hard CC before and after launching.

I don't even think he needs any of these buffs at all. He's already a super solid champion with an above average win rate. He has huge CC in combat, great tankyness and high general usability and flexibility. He's very hard to actually counter-pick and doesn't even have to win his lane to be more useful to the team then most opposing tops.

Also the way to take advantage of his passive is to build more flat resistances then you would on another tank, I'll usually build a base HP item like sunfire but then go for a Zzrot or the like next for example.

He actually does have to win lane though, not necessarily through champion kills, but if you fall behind and the enemy can zone you then you got yourself a problem

He has shitty base stats to make up for his W passive, but if you are not allowed to farm you are flat out weaker then any other tank, proper zoning will help a bit but that is far from a guaranteed success.

You have to be pretty behind to actually get zoned, you're a full on ranged champion with artillery level range. You just have to remember to take a Doran's ring if you need to cast more int he match-up.

Heck most of the really easy lanes are because people think they are countering me (like a Vayne top for example) failing to realize I outrange them.

He has counter picks for sure. Hell he has like a 38% winrate when facing Singed right now.

Sustain beats him. And late game he falls off pretty hard.

I don't think the buffs will be that noticeable. But we will see.

The only counterpicks are full on aggression champions like Olaf or Darius that can try and zone you at level 1. If anything else is countering you it's because you're failing to adjust you're gameplay according to the lane. Even then if you do it smart you can still avoid being bullied, you just won't win the lane outright.

A lot of problem lanes are won just by taking dorans ring and max E using Q just for keepaway. As long you can aim you'll wear down your opponent without ever needing to engage them, especially if they were foolish enough to take a squishy like Vayne.

I don't know why everyone always forgets that sion is an almost pure ranged champion.

Sustain is a problem? Not only is there now Bramble but there's always been executioners calling, one item that makes nasus/mundo and the like the easiest wins ever.
