Back in Season 1, supports got to make money for themselves, had to know how to play everything in the game (aka last hit), and as a general rule.... be self-sufficient. Shit was glorious. Being a real man who managed his own affairs and who helped his team due to his own charitable nature instead of being a dedicated bitch to the ADC literally begging for pennies. Like Oliver Twist holding out his Targons begging "Please sir may I have the cannon minions". Shit is pathetic yo.
You need to stop these bums from being welfare recipients and make them contributing members to the Lol economy. Maybe they can work a minimum wage job like the Jungler with no steady source of income (never know when that gank is gonna pay off bruh) and maybe some day they can be a high roller like that ADC chilling in his low rider in his 15k gold McMansion.
But please for the love of God, stop handing these peasants gold for just existing and breathing.

Seriously, how much free money are you going to give to these guys? How about you make them make their own money for once instead of relying upon government handouts? How about you make them have to take risks to be impactful lategame instead of 100% utility at all points in the game. Sona was used in WCG mid in S1.
Contrary to what you might think, I love supports. But it's time to stop holding their hand and set them free. No more government hand outs cause they cant last hit.
