So let's list why the new boards suck (I can use that word right?)

  1. Moderation is still retarded. "Don't be a jerk". Gee, thanks Riot I still have no idea what post you're punishing me for. Not knowing what I did wrong won't help me change my behaviour.

  2. The colour scheme is awful First off, I understand dark colours make you edgy and cool (not srs) but the Geneva convention of designing webpages basically says light backgrounds work best. Always. Bright = upbeat and lively. Dark = letdown.

  3. It's got the reddit voting system. As in, butthurt randoms downvote your posts for no reason other than that one time you spliced a comma and they have to OCD laser in upon that comma. If GD's upvote/downvote system was bad, this board is 10x worse.

  4. The traffic basically died. The same threads are on the front page..... for the last month. Smart move Riot (not really), but I really suggest you maintain chronological view as default.

  5. The boards are basically circlejerks now. Controversial opinions get downvotes faster than Master Yi with Le Highlander xD lelelelele 420 quickscope. Upvotes and downvotes create a sheep mentality. It's like a snowball. If people see upvotes they're going to upvote because of human nature. If they see downvotes, other people are going to downvote.

If you really wanted to promote intelligent discussion then there are only a few things you should do.....

  1. Merge all the boards. You don't have enough traffic Riot to actually break them up like that.
  2. Moderate better. As in, actually tell people what they did wrong and not just a generic rule statement.
  3. Get rid of upvotes/downvotes or at the very least HIDE THEM
  4. Go back to the old forums you goofs and retain your more dedicated moderation. These boards offer nothing. You are literally Presidents Choice Cola right now. No one wants to come on your boards when they can get the real thing at reddit. But then again, I doubt anyone's surprised. The LoL team hasn't innovated anything since League was released after beta. Trying to act like champions like Zyra were groundbreaking concepts cause you could play farmville with her seeds.

K. Let me preface this by saying that I agree there are a lot of...rough edges on the Boards. Anyway, on to your thread.

Yep. The moderation message is pretty unclear still from what I've gathered, especially since it's supposed to be a learning tool rather than a punishment.

Matter of opinion. I'm not sure if I agree or not, though the color scheme doesn't necessarily bother me.

It's...exactly the same as GD voting except that you can change your vote and depending on the sorting it can function differently. I'm not sure what you're going for here.

Which sorting method are you using?

This is just part of human nature. How would you propose fixing such a problem without depriving players of the ability to quickly and visually show their feelings on content?

This is one of the reasons GD failed so hard as a discussion platform. This would be one of the worst possible things Riot could do to this platform.

Agreed. Moderation is really impersonal and doesn't seem to accomplish the goals that are really desirable.

This is one of the few things that has been completely and logically explained. The old forums had distinct mechanical limitations that made change functionally impossible; I'm not saying that the transition was a good idea (pls), but realistically speaking the switch had to happen sometime.

The rest of your post kind of devolves. Look. Constructive criticism is fantastic and it's what forces improvement and innovation. Bashing Riot and/or the platform for completely arbitrary reasons like Zyra not being groundbreaking is not constructive, however; it's basically just spam.

He speaks for me. These boards are trash. I'd much rather have old GD. And yeah they said "we cant do things" with the old boards but that doesn't stop them from being mods does it? No. The only reason they wanted to switch over is so that they can say "look we made it so you have to use it! Why? Cause we think it's in EVERYONES best interest to use our new crap". Paraphrasing of course but it's basically what they said. The color is dreadful. At first I didn't mind it. Kinda liked the darkness for late night browsing. But now it's god awful. It really makes me want to get off after 1 minute. I got a thread deleted for asking how to report bots in games without sending in a support ticket if possible. Seriously. The moderation is bullshit. If they have time to go through every damned thread that pops up and delete the ones they don't like then why couldn't they have done that on old GD? Short answer: They could have.

I have to disagree with your view on the color scheme. Bright colors are harsh on the eyes, especially in a dark room, or when you're changing between pages that have dark schemes (even the blank white screen the instant before any page loads is harsh).

I don't know why you'd want votes hidden. This is a good indicator to what the community likes, and there is no reason not to let individuals know what other people think of their ideas so that they can either continue posting similar content, or avoid it because it's unwanted for w/e reason.

Finally, please stop making blanket statements like "nobody wants this". You speak for yourself, nobody else.

New boards is a clustfuck. No two ways about it. The color scheme is only part of it. There are no discussions anymore because new threads start buried.
