Dear community, a friendly reminder that examining only intended strengths does not make a champ OP.
Zed is horrible to lane against.
Why yes, yes he is.
Tryndamere's split pushing is way too strong. He doesn't die in teamfights; it's stupid.
Indeed, it is strong. You're right, he can't die if he uses his ultimate.
Leblanc can burst half your health at level 2.
That is correct. She certainly can.
I agree, these things are all true. And everybody certainly has merit to noticing that these things are true. But to some extent, complaining about these things is simply whining. These are specifically what these champions are designed to do. As a result, learning to play around them and against them is crucial. You can't go into a match and expect every matchup to go in your favour.
As a real life example, I was playing a game as Zed against a Yasuo. I usually struggle against Yasuos, so I decided that instead of being agressive, I was going to simply farm and farm and farm at my tower. Yes, you heard right, I played Zed passively. After about five minutes, Yasuo tells me in all chat, "I absolutely hate passive lanes." Two minutes later I kill him when he dives me. Later on, when he tells me Zed is absolutely horrible and broken and way too strong, my reply was simple.
"I didn't get to be strong because Zed is strong; I got this strong because you let me get this strong."
Yasuo was impatient and got frustrated with the boredom of a passive farm lane. This is one example. But too often people get into a rather poor mental state ("tilted") due to refusing to adapt to the situation. This means playing the game differently, and accepting that not every lane will go your way.
Zed is a lane bully. That is his role. His job is to push you out of lane early and try to kill you, out-farm you, and roam to kill other people early and mid game. This is intended by design. Laning phase is intended to be hell for you. This is where Zed shines. If you survive and farm as best you can, you'll probably be okay. If you don't, whether because you don't respect Zed's laning strength or because you simply hate "boring" lanes where nothing happens, you won't be okay. When you look at his teamfighting, however, you'll notice he's always on cleanup crew or pick duty, because he simply can't jump in as easily as he could during laning phase.
Leblanc is nearly identical. Even in Bjergsen's famous triple kill clip at whatever tournament that was, he walked waaaay around red buff and killed the support while she was alone, then got a double from others' mispositioning. Yeah, she's strong during lane; that's her role. Once you get past that, there's a noticeable dip in her teamfighting power.
Of course Tryndamere's split pushing is frustrating, because that's what he's designed to do. And not dying in teamfights is his ultimate ability. He gets 5 seconds to walk in, auto attack as many times as possible, and walk out. If his ultimate isn't up or expires, you won't be seeing him anymore in that fight unless it's cleanup duty.
Here's the tl;dr.
Adapt. Learn weaknesses, like Zed's 18 second cooldown on his shadow early on, and Leblanc's 18 second cooldown on Distortion at level 1 (meaning, you see these come out, you have a window of time to go ham). Counterbuild. Counter pick. Counter play.
But do not feel entitled to get your way and win every lane. You will be disappointed. Learn to strategize.
Downvote the truth all you want, but just be aware that I'm not saying these things because I'm anti-community. I want to help everyone out. :)
