Hey champion designers team, an idea for passive ability for you.

For a champion who could be some kind of jungle fighter (literally) or tracker.

Every enemy champion leaves a footprint and only your new champion can see those footprints. When he steps on those footprints, he moves faster, passive's power is enhanced in lategame

Nice suggestion. We played around with something along those lines for Kha'zix. Couldn't get it to work at the time, but there was some cool stuff there. We're currently testing a different approach to the same idea (track enemies using extra information your kit offers you passively) that I expect will make it into the game proper at some point, it's been a lot of fun in playtesting and has generated some distinct, interesting moments of gameplay.

Have you ever considered a dffierent kind of stealth passive. One made more for in combat, rather than out of combat.

Shadow Dance:

When CHAMPION breaks vision with enemy champions, CHAMPION acquires stealth for X.X seconds with in .XX seconds. During this time, CHAMPION's basic abilities becomes empowered. Activating abilities break stealth.

You mean, like Kha's ult and passive?

Yeah, something similar.

I wanted to add a little more counter play by preventing the stealth from taking affect immediately, so you could try to follow the champion/ place a ward down quickly to keep vision, to prevent the stealth from activating at all.

I think it would be really cool for a jungling like champion to be able to use the corners and the brush in the jungle to make them extremely powerful. All the while making them overall weaker in open terrain.

The other point of it is that the champion would need to prime the ability by entering vision of the intended target/targets. So it would not be like they couldn't/wouldn't be aware that the champion is in the area.

My concern is that it seems so similar to Kha's passive that they'd be competing for the role of 'champ who ducks in and out of vision'.

That... just sounds too strong, you're basically getting a free vision trail of the enemy, especially in the jungle.

To trail or not to trail Singed...

^Awesome. lol If I were to see footprints of Singed, then I would know not to follow those footprints

could be a good idea to incorporate into warwick's kit.

I love it, kinda like Terrorblade's footprints but only for everyone else :D

Terrorblade, what??

DotA hero. He leaves flaming footprints when he's running around, though you can only see them if you have vision of him so you can't actually use them to track him down.

It could be good, but would need a limit to how far he can see. Good counter jungle champ and counter counter jungle.

The prints should probably only last X seconds-- definitely less than 7, I'd say, and that's reaaallly stretching it.

this would be good on a reworked shaco id think

i think it would fit a Warwick rework far better than shaco

WW is a werewolf, werewolfs find by scent not by footprints

i agree partially, but i was thinking more of WW's current skill to be able to see low health targets, but instead of just seeing their location, he sees blood footprints trailing right behind where the enemy is going. so you can't see the enemy but you see right were they just were a second ago. seems cool to me but w/e. to each their own.

Blood footprints would actually be prety cool.

where would his current passive go then. WW's current passive is part of his identity at this point. To replace it would be detrimental to him.

Shaco however has a very awkward passive that can only best be utilized when he comes out of stealth. His passive is difficult to read and use and as such is far more open to change and could be moved to other areas of his kit if it were to stay.

okay i know WW's current passive is his identity, but this passive would make ZERO sense on shaco. like...what? shaco isn't a tracker or a hunter. he is a crazy lunatic deceiving killer. hes all trickery. i think this is a cool passive idea...just not at all for shaco.

I had an idea like that. I called it Pathfinder.

Dhanushdaredevil1 votes

Yeah Well If there is a passive like that this champ could be easily confused if the opponents all 5 decide to walk on same line and then split in the jungle if he was chasing a low hp opponent and ends up with meeting the tank hes DEAD!

This passive seems kind of cool, but what kind of theme would the champion have to warrant this kind of mechanic that would be unique from other champs in the game?

A hunter might work, but we already have that thematic with several champions like Nidalee, Rengar, and Kha'zix. A detective might work, but that theme is technically already in place with Caitlyn.

Smells like Taric to me... Huehuehuehue

Definitely a valid concern. I think though with the right kit combination, the character can be unique enough to feel different.
