Trying to play tanks or Nasus top lane is miserable

Because Conqueror.

Why are we letting a rune disenfranchise an entire class from laning?

edit: I don't mind lane being hard as Nasus when played correctly. I mind someone doing 600 true dmg to me in a trade at level 7

The best thing they can do for CC machine tanks is so simple I think:

Create an item that gives tremendous tankiness like nothing else in the game right now. A lot of Hp, big resistances, a lot of mana, 20% cdr passive. Then put in a draw back... % less damage to champions at what ever balances the item to prevent a tank from having 1v5 potential.

The game can have an amazing tank item that wont be abusable for an unkillable dmg dealer if the champion does 1/2 as much dmg to enemies for buying it no matter what they do.

P.S. Nasus is supposed to suck top lane because given enough time he turns into the strongest champion in the game.

Like Gargoyle Stoneplate active kinda item?

Yeah like gargoyle... only the active is a bit less extreme(not scaling stats) and the reduced dmg to champions is permanent if one has the item. It again would also give other things a CC machine wants like good CDR and Mana. The idea of certain tanks isn't to deal dmg, its to facilitate teammates doing dmg while being able to take on as much dmg as possible. Killing a tank also shouldn't be necessary to winning fight/taking objectives as in again they should be doing laughable dmg compared to a mage, assassin, or ADC. The dmg reduction I suggest shouldn't take away the 1v1 potential of a tank. It should ideally just cancel out the tankiness it gives offering no benefit or disadvantage to winning a 1v1... it only makes it take longer for you to kill/die in turn meaning having help gives the item its value.

I don't like Conq being in the game but they aren't doing 600 true dmg with it in one trade. That more benefit then they get from it in an all in.

I had a jax do 566 true dmg in one trade 3 games ago on alternate acct

Unless the death recap was wrong and we know how impeccable that thing is /s

Possibly, but you need to consider dmg that would have been mitigated. The rune turns a % of the dmg to true dmg. Not all of the true dmg is dmg that wouldn't have happened otherwise effectively making that portion no different from jaxs regular ap/ad dmg. What you need to do is sit down and calculate how much of the true dmg is worth while at what resistances you have. That Jax was doing as much true dmg to the rest of your team, however less of it was effective true dmg to squishy team members then it would be to you with your tank.

The issue with that kind of item is that tanks need to deal just enough damage that they're a threat if ignored. Otherwise they'll QSS or disengage and you're now an easy source of health for marksman.

Tank items in general need a buff. Made a post ages ago, but tanks have lost exactly 850 HP and 55 armor over the years in their items.

Tanks need their own super items worth 3K+gold (like old warmogs) that grant stats to match.

IMO (note this is a straight cntrl C+V from old post, so some from X may be incorrect) item 3001 Health increased to 400, cost increased to 3100 item 3194 Health increased to 400, cost increased to 2900 item 3193 Armor and magic resist increased to 50, cost increased to 2700 item 3190 No changes item 1401 item 1413 Recipe changed to: Respective smite+item 3751 +item 1029. Cost increased to 2800. Stats changed: Now grants 300 HP, 15 armor, +20% bonus health. From 300 health, +15% bonus health. item 3143 Cost increased to 3000-3100. Now grants 500 HP and 90 armor. item 3800 No changes item 3742 No changes item 3065 HP increased to 500, cost increased to 2900 item 3068 No changes item 3075 Armor increased to 100 from 80, cost increased to 3100 item 3083 Cost increased to 2900, now grants 1000 HP item 3110 No changes

Perhaps ur item idea could function like "courage of the collosus" When a tank uses hard CC, they gain a shield for X second based on their bonus HP (to prevent juggernaut abuse)

Only certain tanks need the dmg to be effective. Moakai and galio are perfectly happy spamming cc if they are being ignored.

I think a great way to balance that is to reward tanks who stay on a target consistently with dmg. Think like a demolish pop on a champion (I have no idea on values have it jncrease with level ) no one shot potential but still significant value . That way tanks aren’t bursting people down but still are a threat

Boatwhistle2 votes

That is actually pretty damn clever. To add that to my previous item for an item...

Do 50% as much dmg to enemy champions. If you stay in combat with a champion(no more then 5 seconds between attacks) for 10 seconds then proc the dmg the dmg that's been reduced on that champion with % armor/magic resist pen on that last attack.

You're not supposed to beat bruisers in lane, or be able to 1v1 them. That is not your strength. If you want a tank that can do that, play ornn or sion. They have a weaker late game so they can have a better early and mid.

As for Nasus, he's actually in a really good spot right now. You're probably, as in are, just playing him improperly.

Horse Grenades1 votes

I’m bad st this game. So there is the sincere possibility that I’m playing every champ incorrectly. I still think conqueror is overtuned and rewards players for just AAing

Horse Grenades1 votes

Nasus isn’t in a bad spot as long as he avoids some really bad matchups.

Like I said, I don’t expect to “win lane” against bruisers. I just expect to bd able TO lane without getting brainlessly true damage chunked

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

Which you can. Ornn, mao, cho still win the lane phase for free. So does sion.

I'd like to do this for item 3193 : https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/YuN4jHgE-give-these-two-dual-res-items-a-slider-to-convert-some-resistances

doesn't help with true damage much, well kind of with active.
This way it can make more sense if you notice their fed heroes deal more of a certain type of damage.

lmao what are you talking about. Even tanks in this game do significant damage. Just look at sion. Build full tank item can still chug you out. Absolutely aids class

Bijeesny3 votes

Just because one tank champ is able to do that it doesn't mean every tank champ can do it.

Horse Grenades2 votes

The majority of tanks are currently unplayable. Sion is an abomination

Champions with an excess of HP are the best-suited for dealing with conqueror, though. It's usually a function of many fighters naturally being able to outsustain whatever tanks can throw at them and easily commit to an all-in.

when you play a tank top, your jungler becomes a much more crucial component to winning lane. it really depends on the matchup, though.....some tanks are pretty decent at trading in the toplane Chogath Maokai Poppy

it's also pretty important to spread your stats out accordingly--having too mucn armor at the expense of HP can really drag you down
