so where are them fighter runes at?

Critmaster Garen··13 votes·707 views

been waiting every week to see some more fighter specific runes pop up.

so far weve seen a lot of weird new stuff from the new inspiration tree, a couple of runes from the domination and sorcery trees which are aimed at mages and assassins, a couple marksmen runes, and a single tank keystone.

the only thing we know that might make it to season 8 so far is grasp.

are divers and juggers going to get cool keystone runes with crazy effects like the other classes?

probably sending us a message that we aren't welcome

im sure resolve tree will have almost nothing we want, as usual

Thought the same. It's already gotten worse season to season to play melee champs i doubt that's going to change.

Rune idea. Inverted slow. After being slowed when the slow wears off gain half the % value of the slow as a speed boost for 1.5seconds.

I made this doc for a quick summary: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vkFZ_wVoVG4f1gOcK_v8Hbb6_I98ExtcKKonf-GEG0A You can check the indivual links below for the sources if you want more details.

which means there are probably a lot of runes still not listed.

the keystone runes will be limited to 3 at launch, but since runes are exclusive, and youre only able to chose one for a slot, they could still add many many more runes to the individual pathes.

if the resolve tree is supposed to be aimed at fighters, divers and juggernauts, they could very well offer 4 to 6 different keystone runes just in that one path. or any number really.

the system is more expandable than the old mastery system.

heck, they could probably make a couple generalist runes that you could pick into any path. the "weapon coatings" keystone they showcased there as a concept could fit into any of the pathes depending on the stats youre enchanting your items with.

To an extent, that's true. It's possible that a couple slots have more than 3 options, but it's unlikely that it becomes the norm. Not for technical reasons, you're right, there could be any number of Runes in a given slot. But for maintenance and balancing reasons, it's most probable that they will limit themselves to the minimum viable number of Runes that still gives interesting options to everyone.

if the resolve tree is supposed to be aimed at fighters, divers and juggernauts,

They VERY pointedly and explicitly explained that no Path was targeted at a specific Class, and that no Class was expected to take always the same Path as Primary. I talked with Sparkle, saying that despite their best intentions, that's still how people would perceive the system, and well... here we are, you're the living proof of what I claimed. But still, Juggernaut and Divers could totally take Domination Primary, that wouldn't be absurd, even if that's "the Assassin Path".

heck, they could probably make a couple generalist runes that you could pick into any path.

Once again, technically true, but seems very implausible to me...

the "weapon coatings" keystone they showcased there as a concept could fit into any of the pathes depending on the stats youre enchanting your items with.

Everyone else already said it, but you don't seem to believe them, so I'll add my voice to the choir, for what it's worth: really, you shouldn't pay attention to the Runes in the video, it's anything but reliable information. The video could've been shot a few weeks ago with a Rune that has been sniped since then, it could be placeholder art with no real Rune ever implemented behind, we don't know.

i know that. in this case i also used it as a placeholder for a rune that could fit into any path.

while its not explicitly stated that a certain path is aimed at specific champions, its really quite obvious.

the precision path for example seems to aim at auto attackers and gives a rune that allows you to overcap on attack speed. this basically fits almost all marksmen by default.

the same way, the resolve path will mostly focus on defense. defensive abilities and stats are mostly be valued by tanks, divers and juggernauts.

so its very obvious that certain classes will gravitate towards certain rune pathes. i dont think there is much of a point to pretend it will be any other way.

Precisely, but there is a fine yet important nuance between "they'll gravitate towards" and "this is their exclusive path, that they should all take in Primary, and that none other should take in Primary".

Especially for border-line classes like Juggernauts and Divers which can build almost anything from full Assassin to full Tank depending on match-ups/team-comps/personal styles/etc. To step back a little and return to your OP, the new Spellslinger's Surge Keystone (re-vamped Stormraider's Surge) seems to be a very good fit as a "Fighter" Keystone, and yet it's in the Sorcery Path ( the "AoE mages" Path). I could see a lot of Juggernauts go Sorcery primary already (with Resolve Secondary, probably), and we're still missing 5 Runes from that Path.

the problem i see with this, is that certain keystone runes like meteor and berserk are clearly designed for mages and marksmen and fit these classes like a glove.

however there is nothing really yet to be seen that synergize just as well with fighters in general.

it looks very much like the current keystone mastery system, where masteries like warlords and fervor fit marksmen in practically any situation and juggernauts have a bunch of second hand choices to pick from.

fervor is very powerful mastery that is useful on a couple of champions, especially marksmen, in ANY given situation.

while the keystone runes that juggernauts can pick from have much lower kit synergy (due to bonus ad scalings on masteries like thunderlord and dft) or are highly situational (many juggs pick stormraider due to the lack of generally decent choices, but stormraider is only reliable when fighting squishier targets)

DeathBurst1 votes

I understand your general feeling (as a fellow Jugg' player myself), but for now my stance is "wait and see". I'm rather optimistic with the general direction of what we've seen so far.

(Specifically about Stormraider, the re-vamped version is much more reliable, it procs the same way as the re-vamped Thunderlord, not with % of max HP damage threshold. But that's a detail.)

Did yuo see that video they released earlier yesterday? The one about leveling / IP blah blah blah. Well on one of the screens, when they're talking about the rune system, theres a rune on there talking about weapon coatings and such? I have no idea what it is, but I'm super interested to see what thats all about o.o

those runes didnt look like real runes, but just a showcase of the concept of the system and the power that would go into the different tiers of runes.

note how they had the same "runes" there for every of the 5 pathes.

in the real system, each path will have its own individual runes to chose from. thats not to say its impossible that there will be a couple of generalistic runes that you can pick into any path.

however i hope that the weapon coatings are a real thing, and that they are dynamic stat bonuses that we can apply to our items.

it would be awesome, if we could enchant out items with any stat we want.

Just asked Meddler on twitter about it, yeah I find it a bit worrisome that we ain't gotten a preview yet.

Berserk and Ruined King's Tribute both look fairly in line with what I'd expect a fighter to generally want.

Berserk's probably going to be pretty solid on guys like Jax and Irelia who scale up off attack speed pretty well but often can't afford to itemise it. You could go Tri>Titanic>generic tank shit and between the Triforce and Beserk keystone you'd have 100% bonus AS, probably around 110-115% with whatever other random AS you'll be able to slot in with the new runes.

Ruined King's Tribute just seems like the default "good enough on anyone tankier than Riven" rune to me, I'd suspect you'll see a lot of this on many tanks and bruisers.

The only other Keystone worth watching for tanks and bruisers IMO is Spellslingers, the use of the keystone probably rides on how good the rest of the tree is for bruisers, it could just be complete shit and make the thing unusable for them, but assuming it's not it seems like it'd be great on someone like Darius. You could hook someone, AA>W reset and in theory that should proc spellslingers either with AA>W>Bleed or just E>AA>W, I'm not 100% on what the ability considers an ability and if a 0 damage ability would count, it doesn't currently for Thunderlord's though. Regardless assuming you get the MS before your Q that would make it a lot easier to hit your Q.

I'd still certainly be interested in seeing some runes more aimed at bruisers, fighters and non-support tanks too though.
