Diana may be underloaded (explained)

This isnt a buff Diana thread as she is pretty balenced in her current state but after many many games with diana and dedicating her as my main I have come to the conclusion that she is underloaded. Heres why....

Dianas kit is very telegraphed and liniar. All of her abilities are used at once in a concentrated effort to kill her target giving her an awkward play style. She acts as an assassin and does a ton of burst damage but she is not an assassin... shes a diver. The traditional diver is generally pretty tanky which diana is (because of her shield) and they also excell at 1v1 fights to which she does but they also have penetration built in which diana does not. Diana is also gated to her ults cooldown which can be pretty high at early stages of the game. Without her ult she is esentially useless which is extreamly awkward as a DIVER. Fiora xin vi ect they all have a pretty low cooldown on their dives (around 8 seconds without cdr). Diana is in the 20s (without cdr) And around 12 at max level. Not trying to compare champions here but diana is lacking some serious tools. Take her e for example. This has around a 20 second cooldown for an ability that does nothing but pull them closer and slow them. Meanwhile Darius has the same exact thing on a much lower cooldown and it has armor pen tacked onto it. Again you cant compare champions but ... well im comparing champions. If diana did not have such a high ap ratio on her q she would be essentially useless because her ult and w dont actually do that much damage in comparison which again gives her an awkward playstyle of having to poke before she can dive. I would never want this to be taken away from diana because this is her healthy counterplay but I think that the diana player should be rewarded more by landing her q OR diana could use a rework to make her less of a burst melee mage and more of a diver who excells in melee combat because as of now diana sucks in melee combat and its ruining the concept of diana.

one idea i have is a playstyle like this

Passive: Diana gains movement speed for 3 seconds when an enemy champion is effected by moonlight

q: same with less damage

w: same

e: passive: dianas basic attacks deal x magic damage in addition to her base damage active: also effects enemies with moonlight when hit (OR) Diana gains armor/ magic resist for each enemy hit

r: deals shitty damage BUT when she hits a target with moonlight her next 3 attacks gain attack speed attack range and deal true damage (similar to leonas inncondecence) (or) just deals true damage when hitting an enemy with moonlight

bottom line is that diana has very little plays she can actually make because her kit doesnt actually offer any plays she can make

After 300 games with her in platnum the only play i came up with is a way to escape diving onto an enemy then flashing or qing jungle monsters and ulting them I love diana but she is so easy to play and easy to play against because her counterplay is so simple... just dodge the q

Ps: seriously though compare Darius to Diana Pss: my spelling is horrible i know (sorry)

diana's ult at rank 1 with no cdr is 25 seconds, much shorter than almost every ultimate. assuming you have three points into Q, it will do more damage than her ult does. this creates a very healthy decision-making process for the player, which gives you options on using it for the dash or for the damage and you have to make the smart choice on when to use it. even if you make the wrong choice, it'll be back soon anyway.

also, do you want her to be overloaded? that wouldn't be fun. especially since her kit is pretty balanced. free attack speed and a cleave on passive vision on q resetting shield on w nothing extra on e but that's fine and an ult that could basically be used every five seconds or so

She's not underloaded at all. She's what every champion should be. She has:

  • Poke (with an interesting hitbox).
  • Mobility to go in, but no ridiculous escapes.
  • Can burst if she landed her Q.
  • Can sustain-damage.
  • Has a shield to help her duel.
  • Has one CC ability for general CC needs.

Overloaded champions seem to be becoming the norm. Just look at Kled coming up, or at many of their recent releases, or hell, at some of the reworks. They took Malzahar, a perfectly fine champion, and literally gave him a new ability and a new passive for free while taking almost nothing away. They seem to like overloading champions. Diana is fine.

she is underloaded though. Play her as much as i play her and see. she unloads her whole arsenal of abilities in less time than any other champion in the game. w first land q then r and then e. this alone is not the problem. the problem is that this combo does wayy too much damage too fast and she is then useless after the combo. she doesnt need ridiculous escape or fancy dash moves she needs her burst lowered and her sustained damage raised. acoording to riot she is no longer an assassin but she still plays like one if you ask me or apparently anyone else. If shes not an assassin shes a burst mage? no she isnt so shes just a broken ap fighter.

probably about half of the champ roster unloads all of their abilities at once so are they underloaded? it seems like you want her to have twice as many abilites, so that it doesn't feel like you dump them all. even after using her abilities she has pretty strong auto attacks to use, considering you should be up close and personal after unloading your whole kit.
