Reasons that you're stuck in your ELO.

It's season 7 now and I've started in season 3. There have been many champions that have been released and champions that have been reworked. Why I think you're still stuck in your ELO? It's quite simple really. I'll go into a normal game(Yes I know it's not ranked, but please hear me out), and I'll still see veigar,Lux,swain, vladimir, and annie mains. The reason why I'd say they're mains, is because they spam their mastery level 7 taunts after a kill. Anyway having said that you guys need really need to experience new champions and and improve your skills with those champions. A common one is Yasuo. A lot of people will say something like "Yasuo takes no skill". Which I will then reply "if he takes no skill, than why do most people feed with him?". I've seen quite a few good Yasuo players and those players will be in silver/gold ELO.

I understand that there are going to be champions that you will know and play better than others of course. I know that this game is for people with all skill levels from basic mechanics to advanced mechanics. I know that there is more than just skill such as farming, map awareness, MIAs and roaming and knowing when to split push. That's all great, but when I still see annie, veigar and lux still being commonly played, my thoughts are more along the lines of "why are you still playing the boring season 1 champs still?"

So that's my basic observation. Branch out and experience the different champions and learn new things. Riot releases a lot of champions, which are all fun to learn how to play. For me, I like to look for a few things. 1. The champions kit. 2. How good people usually are with that champion. Like for example, I see a lot of people feed with kindred jungle vs helping the team. I've only seen a handful of good ones. 3. How fun the champion looks, like the utility of the champion and how much peel the champion has for the team etc.

Another thing too is I'll ask someone like "hey malphite can you secure vayne for me?" and he'll respond along the lines of "don't have".

I stopped reading after I read this.

I've been diverse, I've learned to get the hang of multiple champions, their kits, and their roles. The only role I'm well aware of as my weakest role, would be jungler.

The problem is though, I feel like there's a little too much over generalizing in terms of "Why we're in our elo". I see this threads a little too often, and none seem to ever, ever, EVER, touch the community side of things. Get a garen that intentionally builds adc and int's for the opposing top laner? Must be my lack of skills as a mid laner that caused it.

Don't get me wrong, I fully agree with what you're saying in terms of how we should be diverse, willing to learn, and willing to progress beyond just the 1-2 champion wall that many seem to think will somehow carry them through the ranks. But when you're dealing with a 20 sided dice, just mentioning a couple of sides won't be enough.

I also always find it weird when someone excludes starting champions. It's never so much of "Why play Annie?", but more of a "Does this compliment my team's comp?". The problem is that while it is good to be diverse (turning my argument against myself to make a point), if it doesn't compliment your team's comp, you will feel and eventually see the slack that it may cause.

There was a player one time that just smashed us so hard with Ekko that I thought he was scripting. I looked more into his profile and found out that he pretty much only played ekko in ranked. He sucked with yasuo, with riven and with many champions other than ekko.

There's the problem that this reply is a reaction that makes no sense towards what I'd just posted, as well the small fact that making this point spits in the face of what you the took time to post. "Branch out!" is being followed by "This person is doing well with just this one champion". You figuratively spit in the face of your own point.

But he was only silver 5.

"Reason you are stuck in your elo" is just you dont improve faster than people at your elo.

That's all.

Honestly, the main reason im stuck is because i keep trying to climb in top lane. Im not a bad top laner by far - but if i dont jungle, nobody else will, so to speak. In the jungle role i can carry games. Meanwhile in top lane... I think it might just be the most jungle-dependent role in the game right now. If the enemy jungler is better than yours that decides the lane. Its that simple.

I find this in every lane. Jungle pressure is insane this season. Getting ganked when you're still level 1 or 2 can completely mess up your lane. Even if you don't die or even burn flash, having a large HP disadvantage that early in the lane really completely screws you. If your jungler doesn't apply similar pressure elsewhere / invade his other buff, you're already losing that game it feels like.

Well, this is some terrible advice.

  1. You said this was in normals, which is absolutely not the same as ranked

  2. Some people do main "those boring season 1 champs" and only those champs, and make it to diamond and higher with them. They're called one tricks, and it's widely regarded as the smarter way to climb... not the dumber way.

  3. Just because someone one tricks a champ, here in season 7, doesn't mean they've never played any other champs and learn/mastered them. I myself have 14 rank 7 champs, only one of which I actually "main". Or are you honestly going to try and tell me you can "tell" that I main all 14 of them because I flash my mastery?

  4. The rest of your logic makes my brain bleed just as much as the above. People can't get out of their ELO because they lack consistency and the ability to carry, due to many reasons that very much so doesn't necessarily include what champ they main.

  5. You don't really get to tell people what they're doing wrong when you have a 35% winrate, and a 1.69 kda in bronze elo... and since according to you it doesn't matter if it's normals or not, I guess we're going by that.

I have never actually played what the league client considers to be my 4th and 5th most played champs in ranked. Ryze for life friends

You guys are not getting it. If I only want to play veigar in ranked, than guess what? I'm going to be dealing with my counter pretty much every game. If you know how to play a variety of champions, you can pick the enemies counter.
