When everyone uses Teleport is a problem, but what when everyone uses Ignite?

As you can see on this match, 7 of the 10 players are using Ignite. On one side, the top, mid, support, and even the jungler took Ignite (the jungler took it instead of Flash). On the other side, the ADC was using Ignite instead of Heal.

Wasn't the original idea to have summoner spell variety? Because when everyone takes Ignite, I don't really feel that there is variety. I get that Teleport has been nerfed, and top lane is now a more independent lane due to the addition of the Rift Herald. However, on my opinion Teleport should be used more. It is really good for map presence, and it seems like everyone forgot of that. In addition, there are many other summoner spells, such as Exhaust, which could be took against champs like Riven, or Ghost for more mobility. Hell, those days I've even seen a Nasus taking Ignite, and everyone knows that Nasus is much better off using Teleport.

League of Teleports is not okay, but League of Ignites is?

In all honesty though you actually get reported in some elo's for not having flash. Thats how mandatory it is to take that summoner spell.

Yet spells like Clarity, Revive and various others are so troublesome they have to be removed from the game. - Riot

And lets not forget nerfing Teleport because "It was being used to much." - Riot

Meanwhile.

I don't understand why they don't just make flash a free summoner spell. Let us choose two more.

Flash is also a problem of being mandatory, but just because Flash is a problem, does not mean that Ignite is not.

They could just move flash to be an activatable item like how homeguards was moved to just happen at 20 mins

I count 4 Ignites that make no sense, and 5 depending on what GP is planning to do with it. I don't know, honestly it just seems like players being sheep/stupid more than Ignite being overbearing.

I remember back in my noob days that I would always ALWAYS bring ignite as an ADC because I wanted to win trades.

That I would never win.

Hmm.

I think that people have the mentality that Ignite will help them win the lane and win trades (even though this is not necessarily true) - and, at least on my server, most people are extremely "kill hungry".

I choose Ignite over Exhaust as a Support if I pick something really aggressive; Bard, Blitz, Brand...wait, maybe I just pick Ignite on champs that start with "B"?

When choosing between Exhaust or Ignite on supports, I ask those questions:

Does the enemy team have super mobile, bursty, and dangerous assassins, like Talon or LeBlanc or Akali?

Does the enemy team have any champion that actually relies on sustain?

Are my teammates going to pick Ignite instead of other summoner spells?

Am I going to win my lane?

Depending of the answers, I may go with Ignite over Exhaust.

The jungler is fine using ignite, considering it's Shaco and has a free blink.

They clearly were using it because Bard's heal is OP as fuck. (kappa)

Shaco does that(doesn't need flash with Q), ADC taking ignite isn't really a good idea, malzahar normally uses it, supports take it situationaly, it's not really that great on gangplank.

It got to the point that I've even seen Lux and Xerath taking Ignite. Doesn't them have too much range to use Ignite effectively?

Vesarixx1 votes

Yeah ignite isn't great on those champions, if you're in range to use it you're doing it wrong.

Honestly, that feels more like people following meta for the sake of meta.

I'd say that exhaust and barrier are better choices, one for dealing with diving assassins and the other for other burst mages.
