Udyr?

To preface this, I have 130k mastery points on Udyr.

Is there any reason why his playrate skyrocketed, and his winrate is 57% in the Jungle as of patch 6.2? I haven't noticed anything different playing him. There also hasn't been any big itemization change, and with how popular Ezreal is, it doesn't make sense that his winrate would be so high. Am I missing something?

swifties and runic echoes tbh

Why Runic Echoes? I understand swifties, been building them for a while, but what does Runic offer that Devourer or Warrior doesn't?

EDIT: movement speed. Oh. But is that movement speed going to be worth the damage you miss from devourer?

movespeed and great synergy with phoenix stance, increases his clear speed even more and makes his split pushing more potent

also while devourer is probably a stronger item, its strength only shines after it's become sated. runic echoes gives a very similar power spike much much sooner, which lets him gank more and clear faster for more gold and more items.

Trick2g uses it and an estimated of 95% Udyr players are Trick2g fanboys. Remaining 5% are actually Trick's smurf accounts.

And yeah, it's probably good. Fast bear scary bear.

Sated Devourer is definitely stronger. However, runic echoes gives a giant power spike a lot earlier than you can hit sated. The mana regen, movespeed, and extra aoe clear speed make it better than warrior.

This is a very good meta for Udyr. He has a lot of synergy with the current jungle items, good split pushing, tankiness, and high chase potential with cc mixed into his chase tool (This is mostly because deadmans + swifties negate his old weakness to kiting for the most part).

It doesn't help that a lot of the harder matchups for Udyr aren't really being used. I mean it was a different story during that long period where every game had Sejuani, Maokai, Malphite, Skarner, Sion, and cc heavy juggernaut / tank comps. His weakness is team comps that don't let him anywhere near something squishy. Chain cc, snares, disengage, and tanks are all annoying for Udyr. Not to mention he's rather lackluster in teamfights when even or behind. (Hard to do generally Udyr will be 1 - 4 levels ahead of the enemy)

Runic echoes gives Udyr everything he needs. Movementspeed, a lot of damage (since phoenix scales with ap), it solves his mana problems and he gets even more waveclear. He has with swiftees, zz portal, dmp and runic echoes about 550 movementspeed. Also most of his items are cheap and they are solving all of his main problems. He is a MONSTER right now.

If games arn't ended in 20-25 minutes, given Udyr's built in wave clear on R and insane MS on E + items, he's able to stall out games and probably get his team some turret gold. Aside from that, he still holds good early game pressure with his tower pressure and fair ganking potential.

I think the biggest thing though is there is a LOT of emphasis on tower objectives and thats literally what this champion plays around. He doesn't like to team fight, doesn't care about kills, just pushing down turrets.
