Nevermind, figured out how to get other champs into botlane/how to allow supports more freedom

So I just made a long post on how ADC's are the primary units able to go bot with supports and how they will always be necessary.

Basically: 4 total lanes (one being jungle), 5 people, that leaves one odd man out that has to take experience away from another lane. The best candidates are ADC's since they are A) not as reliant upon leveling their abilities and so are not stifled from being behind in level and B) much of their scaling comes from gold flow, which sharing experience does not in any way detract from gold flow.

All other units rely upon ability levels to get cooldowns lowered, more damage in their kits, and completing their full combination of abilities and utility to be useful. As this is the case, ADC's will always be the primary candidate for this spot.

#Now, how to fix that:

Mordekaiser is currently the only bruiser who can go bot. This is basically made almost entirely possible by the passive on his W: 50% of experience lost from the presence of allied champions is refunded when killing minions.

Why I didn't think of this before I don't know, but logically the best way to do this would be in two steps:

  1. Remove Morde's W passive. He no longer needs it.

  2. We're adding this onto the core support items.

#They would read as such:

  • Unique Passive: When an allied champion kills an enemy unit near you, the allied champion is refunded 50% (the amount can be increased if needed) of the experience they would have otherwise lost from your presence.

Alternatively, this can be a rune.

#What this does:

  • A support can now freely go to any lane they want without being an immense burden. While experience gain between two champions is normally 65% (approximately) which leads to the common occurrence where bot-lane is two levels behind mid and top, this would make the experience burden halved to 82% for the primary laner. This also prevents supports from abusing jungle experience/catch-up experience because jungle experience only goes to the killer, so this would do nothing in the jungle.

  • Since the experience burden is halved, this allows units far more reliant upon their abilities than ADC's to still stay competitive in terms of ability levels while still keeping them from becoming overbearing while getting supported. Basically, while there is a trade-off to being in a solo lane versus a duo lane, this makes it more manageable and more tactically appealing.

  • This keeps bruiser duos or double carries from abusing these kinds of items as, even were they to split the creep in their lane, only one champion gets the bonus experience as they must be the one killing the units. Factoring it out, they'd sit at about 73-ish% experience gain if they last hit perfectly every single minion and manage to perfectly share the farm. I mean, it'd be quite the feat, but being realistic... not really going to happen reliably.

  • A support now has more skill expression in terms of decision making while being less detrimental. While they now have the freedom to roam more effectively without worrying about crippling their lanes with failed gank attempts, a support will still lose out on a lot of experience from roaming too much. However, they will find themselves able to also go for more opportunities more often or put pressure in a different lane for longer periods of time.

  • Mordekaiser doesn't lose out. He gets the same effects from having a support, it's just on their item versus his kit. ######Please don't be mad, Morde mains.

#With this addition to support core items, supports and who they team up with would be more flexible.

#The downsides to this:

  • Support items would basically become absolute necessity for supports. They kind of are already right now, though, so... meh.

  • Supports would become basically the one really necessary role to fill now. Is this bad? ... I 'unno. Seems fine. Supports at least have more variety and counterplay to them most of the time (not to speak on the current meta) versus point-and-click targeted auto-attacks.

  • Would probably take some time to balance out. Considering the clusterfuck we're in now, though, I don't think I would mind the roller-coaster of variety I'd see from this.

  • Now when you're an asshole as an ADC, your support isn't still forced to have to stay with you. Ain't that lame? Well, guess you better improve that attitude, huh.

#Thoughts, concerns, criticisms below. Let's figure this shit out.

I think it is generally a bad idea because it would force the support to go with that item. Because any item that could be giving your ADC an advantage as big as a level lead would make it so people could reasonably argue that the support not taking the 50% exp item as intentionally throwing.

It would also greatly change out the balance for roaming supports, which is one of the primary ways for supports to actually have a greater influence on the outcome of the match.

And honestly I don't really see the point of this, as all its really doing is buffing adc's which... well I think they're in a pretty strong state atm.

The idea that this will get other champ types into botlane is unlikely. The adc being bot with the support is not only because of exp, its also because for most adc's their kit is not great at solo lane and they're more likely to end up feeding, also for objective control having adc bot leaves them closer to dragon. I get trying to change the adc/supp bot meta. However at this point Riot has embraced it and pretty well enforces it. And if you want more variety in bot lane I think making marksmen a less mandatory class is what is necessary first.

This item idea I think would generally reduce supports freedom, however I think if you made one simple change it'd solve all the problems. Put out starting items that would be: reduce 50% of experience lost from the presence of an allied champion when a minion is killed.

That way support would not have to constantly be behind on level compared to the rest of the team.

Well no, you've missed the entire point.

This isn't one item. This is an effect being put on the core support items - coin, spellthief's, and relic. The point isn't to add a new item but give the change to the current item set.

Again, this isn't for ADC's. This lets supports hang out in other lanes that aren't just the ADC lane or - and the primary point - allows you to viably run a non-ADC bot. It works on the same system that Morde works - reduced XP loss when killing minions while more than one champ is present. The difference here being instead of being a self buff, it's more of an aura-type buff. While this puts more emphasis on killing minions than usual in order to maintain a decent XP flow, it's not so punishing as it currently is. The reason Morde has this buff in the first place is because, as a bruiser, he's very reliant upon his abilities, meaning if they're not leveled up and he's not keeping pace, then he's not very strong. This is basically the same for all bruisers and otherwise.

The point isn't to necessarily strengthen supports or buff ADC's. The point is to allow flexibility in bot-lane and flexibility on a support's location instead of always having to hug bot. While, again, other balance changes would most certainly be introduced with this, this is just a very straightforward change to allow for a more varied botlane than just marksman/support. I do lay all of the information out in all the points I made, so give it another glance over, it should be a bit clearer on a second read.
