10/4 PBE Update

After years of Nasus being one of the most binary and skillshot-less champion, Riot decided to do something about it on PBE. Now they are changing the way bonuses from R (Fury of the Sands) work. Currently (live) it grants 6.375% bonus ad of damage dealt by AOE tick. Having acquired 500k+ Nasus mastery, I'd like to suggest something about it. What I think would be a good choice is to:

Make ticks refresh each 0.5 seconds instead of full second (live), but halve the damage of course. That way it gets more reliable and transparent? Make ulti grant BASE AD as a temporary bonus (15 sec) instead of anything else. That way he gets synergy with Tri Force. Make ultimate taunt up to 3 units in Nasus' auto-attack range. That way he finally gets some hard cc, yet so little range, conditional and not as crippling, granted that most champs top are not casters (auto-attack reliant). If done without having 2. implemented, gain BASE armor and magic resistance. This is all I got from top of my head, having 1. suggestion in addition to any other. Riot talk to me about my Cane Nasus , please.

No Don't even dare suggest they give him a bloody AoE taunt

Meep Man2 votes

Dang MM, while I agree ya got something against Susan?

Ralanr3 votes

Idk, that seems like an appropriate response to giving a juggernaut a form of hard CC that forces people to fight them.

Meep Man2 votes

True enough

Malicious Metal4 votes

Nope but some mains are just telling riot to give HUUUGE buffs to champions, often buffs that would rid them of their weaknesses.

Nasus is a Juggernaut, he needs to be kitable and hard cc AoE on someone with already a 80% point and click slow would be overkill.

It's as if I'd suggest giving Morde a stun on his E or something

Umm nasus is pretty much not in the meta right now

Malicious Metal4 votes

So? An AoE Taunt is way too much for someone with the weakness profile of a Juggernaut

Sure, buff Nasus but don't expect anything that would make him lose his intended weakness

The Cane Master2 votes

This champion hasn't been used competitively more than twice in the last 3-4 years, eversince the season 3 nerfs, let alone being meta.

So don't act as if he's strong as Frozen Mallet Gnar or the release Ekko. Funny thing we are not getting Victorious Ekko to remember how broken he was in both top, mid and jungle role all at the same time.

Ralanr2 votes

That doesn't mean he should get a buff that completely invalidates his intended weakness.

The Cane Master1 votes

You certainly didn't get that I have 500k Nasus mastery, and that having a 175 range taunt wouldn't make him much stronger. He wouldn't even become a top solo queue pick, let alone a competitive meta pick.

Meep Man1 votes

Yes he would. Imagine Flashing on top of an enemy ADC and then using R. If the Taunt is ANY duration longer than 0.5 seconds, then it basically invalidates Nasus' weakness.

Malicious Metal4 votes

You don't seem to get the memo buddy.

Your Pimp doge is a Juggernaut who's actually supposed to be kited due to him having high damage and decent survivability. Juggernauts usually lack strong CC as if they do get close you're usually done for.

He can get buffs to bring him up to snuff but an AoE taunt is simply too frigging much.

Hell, the only AoE taunt there is is on Galio's R and that's like THE thing about him as a champion

Malicious Metal3 votes

I got 650k mastery points with Mordekaiser, Diamond four currently.

I think an Aoe Ground effect on Morde's W would really help him get back into the meta

/s

Seriously though, he'll get hard cc to keep people on top of him as well as having a really strong peel tool if assassins were to dive his back line, which is a tank's job and NOT a juggernaut's.

in before rito says good idea.

Malicious Metal1 votes

Why can I totally see that happening?

Ah yes, because Bot lane Morde used to be what they 100% believed in.

Good thing that was just a phase

Angry Monster2 votes

sad part is the lack of juggernauts at worlds, i predict buffs due to lack of presence.

And they wont be healthy ones, even if needed.

The Cane Master1 votes

Definition of a Juggernaut is also to run (fast) towards enemies, and Nasus doesn't have a single movement speed boost unlike other of his class. My proposition actually allows him to keep enemies into his damage range, only and if he ever gets close to a non front line opponent tank.

Malicious Metal2 votes

Darius, Illaoi, Morde

These three Juggernauts lack speed boosts too.

Juggernauts are not supposed to be THAT mobile. They're low utility, low mobility Melee threats with high damage output and good defensive capabilities.

Just stop trying to justify it, it's a bad proposition, there are other ways to buff him. Hell, give him a MS boost through his E and call it a day

The Cane Master1 votes

Darius has an AOE pull? Not to mention that he gets a non ultimate movement speed off of Black Cleaver, even when spinning with Q. If you compare Nasus and Darius, Darius does everything better. The only thing that Nasus has is tankiness, but it's a damage oriented meta, so 1000+ true damage with a reset is a much better skill than 300-600 health HP boost, that also impairs Nasus' movement speed during the cast time.

You certainly didn't get that I have 500k Nasus mastery,

It means that you play the champion a lot, not that you're good at game design.

I know that having a 175 range taunt wouldn't make him much stronger.

I wonder if maining a champion without hard crowd control has made you forget just how strong it is.

It would be massive for him. He'd immediately become the strongest champion in the game. It would be huge. More importantly, it negates an intended weakness. Nasus gets a ton of defensive and offensive potential, at the cost of being unable to keep enemies near him to apply it. That's his design. Giving him a mechanism that potent for keeping enemies nearby is absolutely not the best solution to what ails him.

The Cane Master1 votes

I don't know if never playing Nasus made you not think about how many (easily exploitable) weaknesses he has. Probably the same thing made you think that you are good as a game designer so much that:

It would be massive for him. He'd immediately become the strongest champion in the game. It would be huge.

If only, LMAO.

I don't know if never playing Nasus made you not think about how many (easily exploitable) weaknesses he has.

I know he has weaknesses. That's why I specifically said " it negates an intended weakness". Seriously man, respond to what I actually wrote.

He's meant to have certain weaknesses. Removing them by adding a mechanic this potent is a terrible idea. Adding power that doesn't negate those weaknesses is a way better option than just throwing them out.

Probably the same thing made you think that you are good as a game designer so much that:

Again, respond to what I actually wrote. I didn't say I was a good game designer. I said you were a poor one. There's a significant difference there. A good game designer would have a good solution to Nasus's problems, and I don't. A bad game designer would take a solution that majorly negates a champion's intended weaknesses, and throw it on without worrying about how much power it would add. That's what you're doing.

Of course, it doesn't take any game design skill to recognize that AoE hard CC is extremely powerful, and can be a strong enough mechanic to carry entire kits. One wonders then why you'd feel comfortable just adding it to a kit willy-nilly.

If only, LMAO.

You majorly underestimate the value of AoE hard CC, and you're too willing to try to get rid of necessary weaknesses. It's a bad proposal. There's nothing more to this.

Druce1 votes

Just because he is not used competitively does not mean that he deserves a huge buff like that. Just because Darius isn't in competitive right now doesn't mean he needs a AoE stun on Q

The Cane Master1 votes

Darius is being in a way better shape than Nasus, hell he was even a meta pick on 2015 Worlds.

Ravenous Howls1 votes

Morde with Rylai's is far more abusive and toxic than Nasus with Wither...

AoE taunt on his ult, definitely no, not to mention you want to give him a hard CC and he has the best slow in the whole game with the shortest cooldown as well, nasus doesn't need AoE CC and much less hard CC.

I think they are going for defenses on his ult so the difference between his and Renekton's starts showing, Nasus is more about tanking while Renekton is more about crazy damage, thematically of course.

RexSaur2 votes

Aoe taunt rofl.

Meep Man1 votes

Wait, if this makes it grant bonus armor and magic resist does this mean you can build some AD on Nasus instead of almost pure defenses?

The Cane Master1 votes

Yes, but he still is better off building defense first off (Frozen Heart in ad matchups and Spirit Visage in ap ones). Then the additional resistances are having diminishing returns, or at least making his conditional damage (based on stacks) even lower, by having removed the bonus ad. Maybe the resistances could be added to the already existing %damage dealt bonus ad?
