@Riot.. Why isn't disabling the mouse wheel an option?

I've read over a few posts today where players have broken scroll wheels and can't afford a new mouse at the moment.. I've found myself in that very same boat.. Why can't we just remap the zoom function to keyboard keys? Can you guys make it so that we can reach the scroll wheel function through an in-game option? I've tried quite a few things and nothing seems to work. Honestly maybe even an optional onscreen slider so that we're also able to see how far in/out we're zoomed in. Is there any reason for this to not be a thing?

It is a setting but you need to edit the PersistedSettings.json configuration file and make it read only. Sadly, it's what you have to do if you want to bind left click to attack move too.

Here's what you need to add:

            {
                "name": "MouseSettings",
                "settings": [
                    {
                        "name": "RollerButtonSpeed",
                        "value": "0"
                    }
                ]
            },

(the spacing isn't preserved when posting on this forum but it's like the other stuff in the file)

I just add this to the bottom?

There should be a section called Input and I added it at the end of the Settings part of it. I'm not sure if it's necessary to add it there but it does make it more logical. You should probably back it up to test changes so that you can easily revert to your normal settings. Although, deleting it will just create a new default one anyway.

However, there is a down-side. You can no longer scroll with the mouse wheel for chat or the shop if you do this. It would have been nice to allow scroll only for those situations.

using control+F yielded no results for settings or input in the persistant file..

Some of the categories don't appear until you edit in-game settings. It's basically a check-list of options from the server.

You could add what I gave you anywhere in the body and it should work after you save it and make it read only. Just make sure it is consistent with the file. After you see }, from another option, create a new line and place it there.

okay, so I got all that.. but how do i save something as read only? when i look at the properties via right click.. it already says that it's read only o.o

Mine wasn't read only at first and I made it read only after making those changes by right clicking and checking the option at properties. I'm not sure how you'd even have made those changes if it was red only to start with.

Okay mate I think i got it! Scrolling still works for the shop though but no scrolling in game which is amazing. Having a broken scroll wheel is so annoying so thank you so much! :D*[slayer-jinx-catface]* [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Try disabling scroll wheel in registry

(Taken from superuser.com)

I am going on the assumption that you want to disable scrolling.

For some reason, Windows wont let you set the vertical or horizontal scrolling to zero for the mouse wheel in the Control Panel. However, you can manually set them to 0 in the registry.

Open the Registry Editor by clicking Start and typing regedit and hit enter.

Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and set WheelScrollChars and WheelScrollLines to 0.

A reboot is necessary for this to take affect.

This will disable scrolling, not the button itself.

PS: If you open the Mouse setting in the Control Panel, it will reset those settings back to 3. Just FYI.
