Why there are so few support mains

  1. The least potential to carry a game. (Don't even try to argue otherwise)
  2. Very little fun things to do (Soraka/Janna stay behind and protect for the first 15 mins, thresh/blitz try to hook once in a while. There's nothing that requires constant attention, it's a laid-back laning phase for supports most of the time)

These two core problems with the role make it the least played. They've been around since the game began but now they're prominent because of autofill in higher elo.

I'd like Riot to address these issues to make the role for appealing to players.

Most ADCs unless they can go an armor pen build

Need more engaging mechanics. Tahm's a walking W, Taric's a single skillshot with a bunch of delays that make the player feel bad half the time in a world of burst and mobility... Last time there was a support I was genuinely satisfied with was Braum back in 2014. Only support with a genuine "dash" really.

Support can't carry 2 hard. Many people love assassins or high damage champion like LeeSin Zed Leblanc etc...

Many solo players doesn't trust there teammates for carrying them (Like me in normal games) I just go whoever i Feel in whatever role Teemo item 2301 KappaPride.

Several things that will make support more fun:

More kill pressure of support on mid lane. Less need to protect ADC. maybe ADC not in every game.

As support, you carry your adc until 20 minutes. The landing phase is not slow and laid back, since the smallest mistake can lose you the lane. The only reason people don't play it is because you don't get to shine.
